  • glad I didn't buy a ticket to see this!

  • Chuck Negron was the sound of The Dogs! That's what is missing here.

  • You bet! they need Chuck AND Floyd!

  • and they didn't sing Eli's Coming tonight either.

  • Just saw them tonight in Lancaster, PA and it was great but almost verbatim to this show. The rap version of Mama Told Me, Cory speaking to the crowd, it was exactly word for word as tonight.

  • Someone PLEASE put Eli's Coming video back up. The music video from 1969....If anyone from the group ever reads these....You need to start the show with an explosive song like Eli's coming to get their hearts pumping right off the bat. Went to see them a couple days ago(GREAT SHOW) but they didnt even play Eli's Coming :( A real bummer there. Plus that song gets everyone in the band involved and rocking. PLEASE ADD IT TO YOUR SHOW!!!!! Wanna see you guys again..my wife LOVES YOU GUYS.

  • This is really impressive. I had thought of 3DN as a former (sort of) hard rock band who sold out to pop and then did the oldies circuit. But they still rock pretty hard. and they're tight. Now if only they did "Fire Eater," one of the coolest rock instrumentals of all time. . . I hear they still have the original guitarist, so it could be done.

  • I saw them live last night and they were aswesome

  • I have developed a new appreciation for this band as the result of YouTube! They are awesome!

  • Anyone that thinks Cory wasn't singing is nuts!! He has a far more ditinctive voice than any of them, and you would know that voice anywhere. I loved the group as a whole and remember them from 1970. I saw them in Concert and the whole audience went crazy. Great performers!!

  • Anyone who believes that crap about Floyd Sneed singing Cory's parts is an idiot.

  • Floyd did not have a voice like Cory's...could not happen. Also there are far too many videos/clips of Cory singing out there...

  • Actually, it's a rarely acknowledged fact that Floyd Sneed sang a lot of Cory's parts in the studio. I know this because my sister's husband used to date one of their roadies, and he said that Cory could hardly sing a lick without Floyd there. In fact, when they went on tour, Cory's voice was ALWAYS supplemented with a tape of Floyd singing. Totally unbelievable, but TRUE! Champ Molandes, Austin, Texas

  • Please don't take this wrong my friend, but that's total BULLSHIT! First of all, your sister's HUSBAND dated a 3DN roadie? Didn't know they had female roadies. Second, Cory was the only clean one of the bunch, never did drugs, he was a real outdoors type (fishing, camping etc). He was always in fine voice. And finally, Floyd Sneed can't sing!!!!

  • nduffle, this is not true, you need to listen to Cory sing!!!

  • Chuck has trouble hitting the high notes now as well..

  • i have many 3dn lps enjoy there music..

  • Cory is the voice of TDN We have seen them many times in concert. And no they did not come out using walkers

  • My band was the opening act for 3DN at a concert a few years ago. And you're right, they did not come out using walkers. They sounded much better than the 4 times I saw them in their prime. Might have had something to do with the fact they weren't on heroin. It was great to see Jimmy clean and sober, he wasn't too far behind Chuck you know.

  • was chuck the vocal on pieces of april

  • Yes. Out of the 22 top 40 hits for 3DN, Chuck sang lead on: One, Easy to be hard, Joy to the world, Old fashioned love song, Pieces of April, and The Show must go on, their last #1 record in 1974.

  • Chuck was 3DN...he really was..

  • Well, I love Corys voice too. I just don't think he should do a Chuck song, and visa versa. I mean, they've got plenty of song to pick from, but Chuck did sing on the more popular ones.

  • The cool thing is they only had 3 number 1's. One each.

    Chuck-Joy to the World

Cory-Mamma told me not to come

    Danny-Black and White.

  • According to a VH-1 special a few years back, Three Dog Night was actually the most successful rock band of the 1970's, more so than the Bee Gees, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc. While only 3 #1's, they had several albums and singles stay in the charts elsewhere.

  • Actually every vocal part that you hear on the original cut of "Pieces of April" was Chuck. He did the lead vocal and then they overdubbed and layered the harmonies, still his voice though. My understanding is that they were trying to finish the album and Danny and Cory were gone and not available, so chuck finished it by himself.

  • Brenda, Yes Chuck is great and he is missed, however, Cory was THE Voice and heart of TDN. A great singer in his own right. Very underappreciated.

  • Sorry guys but you are LOST on this first song without those beautiful vocals of Chuck Negron. He sang the lead on "ONE" and NO ONE can duplicate his voice. Why can't you put your differences aside and re-unite? Danny, after reading the book 'Three Dog Nightmare', I realize there was a LOT of jealousy going on between you because you were the weaker singer of the three. I just find it sad that one of the BEST bands of all times is no longer Three Dog Night..Two Dog Night just doesn't cut it.

  • It comes down to money Brenda. The bass player sings Chucks high harmonies, so they've got two for one. He is paid as a side man, not making anything close to Danny and Cory. If they get Chuck back, they would have to pay him a full cut, but the band could not make enough to offset the difference. The price of these "erectile dysfunction bands" is pretty well set.

  • Chuck can't hit the high notes now either. Do a search on Chuck Negron and listen to his recent concerts. It happens when you get older...

  • I got news for you... from a professional musician and singer, there are very, very few who can hit the same notes that they could reach 30 years ago. Plus, the hard living that most (not all) did in those days doesn't help your voice to stay strong over the long haul. Take it from someone who knows!

  • moshchopper1,its not age,its how you took care of your voice and body, someone said,on one of these video's Chuck is only using one lung? Mel Carter can reach all the high notes, and low ones, his voice only gets better.
