I think he's cool. He's obviously gifted, and he's very precise with his language and because of that he's less typical that other kids, especially most teenage boys. But good grief, that doesn't make him gay, and being gay doesn't have any bearing on anything else to do with the movie etc. Why is it so hard for people to accept a more sensitive young male? Would you rather be dealing with some yahoo redneck who can't string a proper sentence together without swearing? Go Thomas!

@Princessportent - additionally. He's YOUNG and brand new to the world of acting and all the exposure that comes with that. He's probably not comfortable enough being more goofy, or POSSIBLY that's just not his natural personality. I was very slow to warm up and insanely serious as a kid. I've sort of mellowed a BIT, but I'm still on the intense side.

Thomas did a brilliant job in this movie. The ability for him to pull off the emotions and expressions is beyond description. Sandra Bullock has praised his ability at every chance, as well as how proper and humble he was in production. I want to also point out that I think the genius behind Thomas is the director Stephen Dauldry. Stephen has a very unique ability to bring the best out in young actors as he has done so with Billy Elliot on Broadway and the movie.

If you are offended that people are calling this kid gay, you're implying that there is something wrong with being gay...as if he's being insulted. The fact is he is gay, he probably knows it already, and I hope that he can accept himself and not live with any shame or guilt. Its fascinating to see how people peg him as gay because he speaks so proper and has effeminate facial expressions. he does come across as gay or transgendered. but some straight kids & adults also have mannerisms that people consider to be stereotypically gay. so you never really can tell. only he knows who he is.

It's not like he's going to apply for an internship with Rick Santorum. The most impressive thing about this kid is how he talks and the vocabulary he uses. He seems really smart.
