Great, professional job on the video ! I'm new to CCW and have tried several holsters and guns. I guess I'm just paranoid but I tried the Glock 19 ,Ruger Speed Six, Kel Tec P-11 and Smith& Wesson J frame 642. With even the smallest I feel like I have a 4 slice toaster bulging out. Looking in the mirror I can see the print as I move. Did you ever have this feeling ? You're so tiny and yet you can pack a 1911. I just think people will see it and freak out. I have a permit to carry, just worried !
Waistband holster is definitely the way to go for me. I enjoy your videos and wanted to thank-you for being so generous with your time and information. My grandfather had me shooting a .22 when I was 8 and have been around firearms all my life. I think most women don't 'like' guns simply because they are unfamiliar with them. In this day and time, I don't leave the house without my Ruger. I got a Sig three years ago, but I guess old habits are hard to break. :D
id def like to be concealed inside ur pants ., great vids though for real., someones gotta show young girls that this is something to be proud of n profficent in
I think women can conceal carry easier due to their hourglass figure. I'm a guy and my back is fairly flat so the gun sticks out easier. Thanks for making these videos on your holsters's experience.
is the ctac holster comfortable? I would think having kydex right next to your skin would get uncomfortable after a while, especially against your hip bones since it has no give.
I have two of Milt Sparks' IWB holsters. Both are Versamax II for my Sig 229. Milt really hit on a great design. Its good to see other people like them as much too. I almost bought the first one you had but opted vor the full leather Versamax. Either way, they conceal great! Great video!
im only 15 and i have never shot a pistol or even held one but i have shot lots of rifles and shotguns and i am very interested in 1911's. so a question i would like to ask is how comfortable is an inside the waistband holster?
@mastersniper13 ....At 15 you'll have a while to wait, but the first question would be are you male or female? (Different body sizes.) I carry a full size Colt .45 every day. But I'm six foot, 190 lbs. with an athletic build. Once you get used to it, I tend to forget it's there. It becomes a "part" of you, if you know what I mean. If I'm not carrying, for whatever reason, I tend to feel naked. LOL. You have to find out what's good for you. Could be a .380 or a .44 Shop around.
I am thoroughly impressed. It seems like having a 5" waistband holster would be super uncomfortable though, does it often become an issue when you sit down?
Looks like a Kimber CDP Ultra with different grips. Very nice. I've got a CDP Pro that shoots as good as any Wilson Combat I've tried. But I'm more interested in your Ultra for the sake of CCW since I have a Springfield EMP that I would carry. Roughly the same size as your Ultra.
Looks like you're ready to go baby girl nice K-Bar. What model 1911 is that you're cc? Looks like a Kimber but I can't place it. FYI to those looking for holsters, Blade-Tech makes a great IWB. I use one everyday to carry my 1911 in very comfortably and it disappears with just a t-shirt. Model of 1911 i carry is a LW Champion Operator (Springfield). That's a full size frame with a 4' bbl.
My husband and I just love your videos^_^ Very educational! I too am getting a shoulder holster for the same reason but I have one question: where did you get that awesome knitted jacket thingy?!
you make exelent points thanks to your advise im going to get a good holster and save my self money on buying some crappy ones Ive checked out your videos and I like that you dont knock other manufactors or complain about weight good luck with your new boy on the way God Bless
You should have put your shirt over the gun when it was in the "in the waste band" holster to show that you don't even need a jacket. Also shoulder holsters are better with concealment when the gun is straight up and down. With these new ones, the barres sticks right out of the back of your armpit.
You are right. It is still easy to conceal IWB without a jacket.
While it is true that firearms can be easier to conceal when in the vertical position you compromise speed and natural grip on your draw. Some may be okay with that, I am not. If I am in a "to the triggers" situation I probably needed by gun 3 seconds ago and any time spent getting it out may be time I don't have.
I don't always carry just compacts. I have and do carry full-size firearms. I have never concealed a full-size in a shoulder holster though and don't want to as I won't carry in a shoulder holster vertically. I won't spare the natural angle of draw.
But you carry the 1911 which is the slimmest .45 out there (good choice going with a .45); I like to have a good ammount of ammo in the clip (10-12 rounds) so I like the USP .45. With that pistol, I have to live with it being concealed only part of the time. I just don't want people to feel uncomfortable when thay see I am carrying.
Still easy to conceal. My old boss, who was a skinny, tall guy concealed a USP .45 in nothing but shorts and a t-shirt all the time. I've concealed plenty of other full-size guns including Sig, Springfield, Glock... you can conceal anything with the right set up.
Great video series Limalife! Thank you very much and please keep them coming. Please forgive the Newbie question here... But what would you recommend for a man standing 5' 8" with a "Pot belly" that needs to carry while wearing a tucked in dress shirt and slacks and Jeans with Polos or Bowling shirts on the weekends?
I'm a man with a bit (ok, quite a bit) of a gut, and I do well with a tuckable IWB. My favorite presently is the Crossbreed Supertuck. Conceals my full-sized Springfield XD quite nicely.
Thanks for the suggestion FosteriumJ! I'll look into the Supertuck for my XDM. I like the fact that I can tuck in my shirts too and still draw my gun if necessary. Thanks again.
It can. Pretty much no matter what kind of holster you get, over time, if you carry with any regularity, you are going to get holster wear. It's a fact of the carrying life.
If you're worried about scratching... by all means don't buy a nickel or any kind of reflective finish... you'll go crazy trying to keep it mirror clean... trust me... go with a blued finish or something that won't show the scratches as much...
my 1911's got a parkerized(SP?!) finish, shouldnt be too much of a problem, right? i'm just really intrigued by the IWB kydex holster, think i might try one...
Depends on how well the holster is made, how big it is, and how well it fits you. They are sorta like shoes, both in that respect and in the accumulation patterns. There's a reason people usually have a "holster drawer", even if they are guys. :)
I'd probably cut my own arms off if I had one. Though it would be fun to learn I'm sure I'd have lots of scars to tell the story of my learning journey.
Nah. Bruises more than scars. You train with a wooden one before you pick up a sharp one. Harmless training weapons have been around a long time, although they didn't become orange until recently.
Lima, my wife used to have a 38 special tucked away on her person when we lived in CT. Unfortunately, work took us to CA and Feinstein and Co. make it a lot harder to carry out here.
Glad to see you're putting up these great videos. More women (and men) need to be able to carry concealed.
It might be enough for one or two opponents. But what if a gang decides to jump you? Even if you had one round for each, your magazine could malfunction, you could miss...
Extra ammunition and magazines quickly seem to look more practical. Not every self-defense scenario is one person trying to mug you.
Even cops usually carry only a loaded firearm off duty. A 9mm w/ 10 rds. Not everyone is Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon. If you come across a gang of bad guys who aren't afraid of a firearm, your best bet is to shoot off a few rounds and run to call 911 because you are out of your league.
I'm not saying more isn't better. However, I'm not patrolling a border in Kosovo or anything. I'm just walking around. If I find myself in a shootout, I have much bigger issues. No one wants to run out of ammo but come on. Self defense is rarely like the movies.
carrying a concealed firearm is not a bad idea mr canadian. oh and guns arent what cause mureders it is people who use guns as a bad tool for something that it is not meant for.
Yes please excuse mr Canadian - Remember there are 3 types of people - Sheep - Sheep Dogs and Wolves - Who do you think he falls what catagory. Look up LUBYS Cafeteria Shooting - And then you might understand why you need to be a sheepdog... God bless the 2nd amendment. Good fences make good neighbors dudeman... watch the video and learn to be understand SHEEPDOG mentality - This video demonstrates prepardness - Most situations involve quick reaction time.
Okay, this is a video about holsters, not the ins and outs of concealed carry.
Mr Canadianmaple, I'm not sure why you are so concerned about our carry laws as a) you don't live in the U.S. and b) you don't understand the responsibility of carrying for self defense.
That's fine. No one is forcing anyone to carry here.
We, law-abiding Americans, have a right and a responsibility to self defense. If you don't like that, sorry, but who cares? You aren't American.
Under our law, a person may use deadly physical force if he reasonably believes it to be necessary to defend himself [or someone else] from death or serious injury.
You ought to put a little more mental effort into understanding the pro-gun position rather than assuming we are all "crazy nuts".
Concealed Handgun License holders are necessarily law-abiding citizens with clean backgrounds and here in my home state of Oregon, not one CHL holder has *EVER* had their license revoked for gun crime.
The fact is that this american system would never work in somewhere like the UK, my home, because it is not been part of our history since its start. What people have to remember is that america was built on weapons. The nation started with a war, and haha if its gonna go out anytime, its gonna be because of one.
This is not to say that i agree with everyone owning weapons, just that people need to understand both points of view. There are pros and cons for either point of view.
I am pointing out that being armed has indeed been part of UK history. Neither Holmes nor Watson were policemen, and yet none of the Scotland Yard types they rubbed elbows with ever gave them grief about being armed fairly routinely. Watson had his service revolver. Holmes shot for fun. That something in Lestrade's pocket wasn't a stapler, either. Granted, literature is not history, but it is not without truth. :)
I understand self defense. But what you were talking about earlier was "preventing crimes". To me that sounds like renegade justice. I work in law enforcement, and I deal with our counterparts across the border, so I do know about the pro-gun position and I'm not calling all Americans crazy nuts... just the people who feel they need to carry a firearm at all times. I'm pro gun (for regulated hunting, target practice, law enforcement officers), anti concealed weapon.
By preventing crimes, what I meant was protecting myself from becoming the victim of a crime.
Suppose I am approached in parking garage by a knife-wielding man a that is angry because I accidentally cut him off in traffic, what are my options? Run and hope I am faster than him? Take my chances in hand-to-hand combat? Beg for mercy? How do I defend myself against a determined attacker when I have no weapon? I'd really like to know so I can save myself if the situation ever comes up.
I'm a runner, so I know what my response would be! I figure either you can be tough or run fast. But say you're not a runner. Your best option would be to talk him out of it. Any reasonable person, no matter how angry they get, will realize that doing life in prison for murder is not worth revenge for a traffic infraction. What if you are carrying a gun, but he charges you before you can get it fully out? It could easily wind up in his hands and be used against you. You're really not much safer.
I agree with you in principle that it is better to apply calm reason to a conflict wherever possible, however not every person you encounter is guaranteed to be reasonable. There is such a thing as road rage, criminals, and sociopaths. Also, everyone does not have the physical capability to fend off a much larger and stronger attacker which is why women get raped.
As for weapon retention, that's something that can be addressed with training and preparation, just as you do in law enforcement.
What I'm trying to say is, adding more weapons to the situation doesn't make it any safer. Each new weapon you introduce just gives the person carrying them more options to do harm.
Renegade justice is when you take care of the problem yourself. Calling the police and having them take care of the situation does not make you a renegade.
Read my last comment. I explained it. Here it is again in different words: Renegade justice is when a citizen (non military, non law enforcement officer) enforces justice.
Exactly. That's what I'm saying... why do citizens need to carry concealed weapons? Studies show that states that allow concealed weapons have very similar crime rates to those that don't. Allowing concealed weapons doesn't deter criminals. Neither does the death penalty. So why allow either?
Actually, you're an outright liar. The level of gun control in an area varies jointly with the amount of crime. That's an inarguable fact -- just look at major liberal cities.
If you think allowing concealed carry doesn't deter criminals, you're either retarded or ignorant. If you're a criminal, and you know your mark might be armed, you won't care? Right. That makes total sense.
Disarming law-abiding citizens doesn't do any good for anyone, besides criminals. Not to mention the second amendment
No it is not incorrect at all, it is entirely unfesable, but not incorrect. But you know what, killing is a crime and you are simply renaming it by calling it self defence. You don't reduce crime you just rename it, and so the figures look favourable towards you.
That is a fact you cannot denie, figures can be made to look favourable towards anyone.
Pah, your insults only show that you do not have a solid arguement, and of course, your gonna be a little girl about it. Frankly, not got time for your moany bullshit.
Grow up and learn to form an arguement without throwing insults, honestly you only prove my point more by saying that.
Oh, btw, the "self defense isn't a crime" is not gonna float because "self defence" is an EXCEPTIONALY grey area, people get quite loose when there are no consiquences.
I don't have a solid argument? You're telling me it makes more sense to let yourself die. Kinda hard to insult the amount of sense anyone else is making with that kind of ideology.
Self defense is not a grey area. If someone is attacking you, you have the right to defend yourself, period. That's extremely simple.
Yh in a perfect wolrd you mug, in reality you cannot say what happened because you were not there, it makes prosicution of the "actual" criminal exceptionally difficult, which is the point. If i killed someone, illegally, and claimed it was self defence i could get away with it if there was sufficient envidence, yet i sitll murdered someone.
Im not saying you should allow yourself to die, but don't turn inocents into killers, which is, in actual fact, what you are proposing.
Are you an idiot? You'd have to make it look like they were trying to kill you, if you intended to murder them and claim it was self defense. It'd also have to be in a situation where you'd be there anyway, for another reason. Those two things make your argument extremely thin and non-realistic.
I'm proposing that each person adequately defend themselves, not to 'turn innocents into killers' at all.
Pah then you live in a fairy land mate, because the world does not work like that. Whether you like it or not it is a grey area. People are stupid, stupid as fucking apes alot of them, and they will kill if you give them a means to. It is human nature.
First of all, it's spelled defense. Second, There is nothing wrong with fighting for your survival. Avoiding that situation is up to you. The gun grabbing sissies usually go after the legal guys, because it's easier to take them from law abiding citizens than it is the gangbangers that might hurt you.
It's similar to vigilante justice, except vigilante justice is a response by an individual or group to the perception of an insufficient response by the authorities.
I deliver pizza for a living in the inner city ,some areas are nice and some are bad, Should I not carry, and hope they dont shoot me before I have time to call the police to write out there report, Or do you think I maybe have the right to defend myself and give myself the chance to help raise my children with my wife. I sorry ,but if someone try's to strong-arm me, there will be a even fight, Just like the police, they carry weapons because they know the criminals have them too.
Hell yeah you should be carrying a gun pizza delivery is top 10 most dangerous job in united states. Look it up. You should always exercise all your rights or lose them.
I don't see why anyone would need to conceal a firearm on themselves. I know you can get concealed weapons permits over the border in Michigan (I live in Windsor, Ontario) but I think that just makes walking around on the streets more dangerous. I work as a border officer and I'll warn all Americans that carry concealed weapons, carrying a concealed firearm into Canada will now get you a mandatory 3 year prison sentence.
That doesn't make any sense at all. Shooting a person, even if they are about to commit a crime, is a crime in itself. And if you've shot the person before they commit the crime in order to "prevent" it, then you've shot an innocent person. So by trying to prevent the crime, you've caused another, quite possibly more serious crime (murder). I feel much safer on this side of the border knowing that crazy nuts like you aren't walking around with concealed guns looking to be a hero.
Gotta say candian, i agree with you on this one. It is almost a slightly sick irony but its a very real one. But it would be impossilbe to disarm america, there would be another damn revelotion, it would be like taking away the NHS in britian, to even try would be foolish, americans love there guns that won't change.
Unfortunatly :P i am a brit haha i just see that they can be both good and bad things. More americans and brits alike should get to understand that. You clearly already do.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make these vids... they're some of the best I've seen on YouTube. I've replayed your second video now and still didn't pick up the maker of the black IWB holster with the steel insert for keeping the mouth of the holster open. What is the maker and model of that holster ? Thanks for the time you've taken and best of luck with the new "little one" !
You haven't squeezed that kid out yet? LOL! Like I said earlier, I won't get my VM II until December/January, but got a very nice DeSantis double-mag holder in the meantime along with some CMC "Power Mags" in stainless. Still looking for a decent 1.5 inch belt to carry it all around comfortably.
Sometimes. Usually if I've just gotten up and haven't gotten ready for the day I won't be armed, but if I leave and am armed and come home I'll often just stay armed.
My husband has a pretty funny picture of me mopping the kitchen floor with a gun, spare magazine and knife still on my hip.
If I'm comfortable (which usually I am) I see no reason to disarm when I get home.
i need your expert advice on some really good holsters for a Glock 26 and Glock 19. Currently I have a generic Uncle Mike's inside the pants holster for my G26. It's pretty obvious i'm packin' when i bend over or kneel down. Plus the crap keeps slipping out. So i need a good highly concealable for my g26. And a good shoulder holster for my G19. thank you
No, actually, it's quite comfortable (provided your clothes fit comfortably). I you are wearing clothes that are too loose the gun and holster can move around and be a little uncomfortable and if the clothes are too tight it can be hard to fit all of you and gun comfortably into your clothes (such is the case with my pregnant self) but in general, with well fit clothes, it is very comfortable.
what is that 3rd item, the not the gun or the spare magazine, but the thing sitting behind the spare magazine. I thought i heard you call it a ka-bar. Is that what it is, a knife?
Lima (and her Hubby) have been very helpful and informative to me. Just ordered a Milt Sparks VM II the other day for my 1911 Model. (Beware, it's a 20-24 week wait) But it should mail in around Christmas Time. I do love her taking the time to make these vids. You can never have enough information about concealed carry, in my humble opinion.
great vid and info! For a iwb holster i use a galco sky ops, which is very comfortable and conceals great! i sometimes even forget its there..i recommend it to anyone
Very nice videos. I love to see that you've expanded into the vblog world. Due to my workplace environment, I'm pretty much regulated to tuckable IWB holsters or pocket carry. I have a video demonstrating Crossbreed's SuperTuck and I've been halfway maintaining my own blog to share how I conceal carry (hiddendefender.blogspot). Let me know what you think.
My WRB holster doesn't have a re-infoced mouth and it scratched the slide on my Beretta Px4 Storm. Do you think I was mad? You betcha. So, I understand the need for one. I even emailed WRB with that exact suggestion and they sent me a free holster.
It's suprising how comfortable an IWB holster can be. I just got The Answer from Tucker Leather. I havent got my gun yet but they had one in stock that would fit so I jumped at. Mine has the leather lined option as well. I've been wearing it to find the proper location for me and break it in and it's great.
It's actually pretty darned comfy if you have a LITTLE more room in your pants than I had in that video. Those pants used to be nice and loose, now I can BARELY button them but that's the price of growing babies I guess..lol.
And no, it never rode up while walking and sitting or even running. It's a very secure holster. One of my favorites, really... when I wasn't pregnant, of course.
I think I'm going to have to make a "Holster Talk Part 5" because as I reviewed these videos I realized there are so many things I missed, including paddle holsters.
I don't own any and personally (just personally) don't care for them because they tend to stick out too far for my little frame. I know a lot of people who really like them and swear by them. I wish I would have at least gone over them.
I find my leather IWBs to be much more comfortable because they "breathe" a little more and are not so rigid, especially for sitting. Granted, since pregnant, any IWB has become uncomfortable due to the growing belly, but I expect to return to them for their ease of concealment once this little one is born. Typically, I've found, if the holster is of good quality and your belt is sturdy, you will be comfortable.
Pending on exactly which holsters we're talking about, either style can be very comfortable or very uncomfortable. The all leather IWB in this series if vids is a Milt Sparks VersaMaxII and is by far one of the best IWB rigs I've ever used. As long as I'm not spending too many hours sitting, it's fine. The OWB is on the whole more comfortable IMHO, but it does compromise concealability. All in all, my IWB is very comfortable in almost all circumstances. One thing that needs to be covered is....
...That along with a good holster, you also NEED a good belt, I use to think that any good thick belt from JCPenny was ok, but I was wrong, my first real "gun" belt and I was convinced that a good belt designed to be sturdy enough to support a gun and holster is a must.
You should have put your shirt over the gun when it was in the "in the waste band" holster to show that you don't even need a jacket. Also shoulder holsters are better with concealment when the gun is straight up and down. With these new ones, the barres sticks right out of the back of your armpit.
IamaRifle 2 years ago
You are right. It is still easy to conceal IWB without a jacket.
While it is true that firearms can be easier to conceal when in the vertical position you compromise speed and natural grip on your draw. Some may be okay with that, I am not. If I am in a "to the triggers" situation I probably needed by gun 3 seconds ago and any time spent getting it out may be time I don't have.

Well concealment isn't really a problem with you, since you carry compacts, but I don't like compacts that much. That is just me talking though.

I don't always carry just compacts. I have and do carry full-size firearms. I have never concealed a full-size in a shoulder holster though and don't want to as I won't carry in a shoulder holster vertically. I won't spare the natural angle of draw.
limalife 2 years ago
But you carry the 1911 which is the slimmest .45 out there (good choice going with a .45); I like to have a good ammount of ammo in the clip (10-12 rounds) so I like the USP .45. With that pistol, I have to live with it being concealed only part of the time. I just don't want people to feel uncomfortable when thay see I am carrying.
IamaRifle 2 years ago
Still easy to conceal. My old boss, who was a skinny, tall guy concealed a USP .45 in nothing but shorts and a t-shirt all the time. I've concealed plenty of other full-size guns including Sig, Springfield, Glock... you can conceal anything with the right set up.

Great video series Limalife! Thank you very much and please keep them coming. Please forgive the Newbie question here... But what would you recommend for a man standing 5' 8" with a "Pot belly" that needs to carry while wearing a tucked in dress shirt and slacks and Jeans with Polos or Bowling shirts on the weekends?

ladies gun on the ankle...lol jk

I'm a man with a bit (ok, quite a bit) of a gut, and I do well with a tuckable IWB. My favorite presently is the Crossbreed Supertuck. Conceals my full-sized Springfield XD quite nicely.
FosteriumJ 2 years ago
Thanks for the suggestion FosteriumJ! I'll look into the Supertuck for my XDM. I like the fact that I can tuck in my shirts too and still draw my gun if necessary. Thanks again.

Quick question about the IWB Kydex holster, i know it is plastic and was wondering if it scratched your gun at all?
Caboose99 3 years ago
It can. Pretty much no matter what kind of holster you get, over time, if you carry with any regularity, you are going to get holster wear. It's a fact of the carrying life.
limalife 2 years ago
If you're worried about scratching... by all means don't buy a nickel or any kind of reflective finish... you'll go crazy trying to keep it mirror clean... trust me... go with a blued finish or something that won't show the scratches as much...
JDW857 2 years ago
my 1911's got a parkerized(SP?!) finish, shouldnt be too much of a problem, right? i'm just really intrigued by the IWB kydex holster, think i might try one...

a gun is a life saving tool not a fashion item a criminal wont care

Learned the hard way, I needed ALL new pants for wearing an IWB, you have to make room for that extra inch or more!

Are the IWB holsters uncomfortable when you sit down?
loadmaster8991 3 years ago
Depends on how well the holster is made, how big it is, and how well it fits you. They are sorta like shoes, both in that respect and in the accumulation patterns. There's a reason people usually have a "holster drawer", even if they are guys. :)

Lima, my wife used to have a 38 special tucked away on her person when we lived in CT. Unfortunately, work took us to CA and Feinstein and Co. make it a lot harder to carry out here.
Glad to see you're putting up these great videos. More women (and men) need to be able to carry concealed.

If i could I would make it a law that all lawful citizens have to carry a firearm or at lest own one ,, I would feel safer
slowpoke300 3 years ago
Good lord. You even carry a spare mag? I'm pretty sure seven rounds is enough for self-defense, especially for a .45.
34784 3 years ago
It might be enough for one or two opponents. But what if a gang decides to jump you? Even if you had one round for each, your magazine could malfunction, you could miss...
Extra ammunition and magazines quickly seem to look more practical. Not every self-defense scenario is one person trying to mug you.
JustOneGunner 3 years ago
Even cops usually carry only a loaded firearm off duty. A 9mm w/ 10 rds. Not everyone is Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon. If you come across a gang of bad guys who aren't afraid of a firearm, your best bet is to shoot off a few rounds and run to call 911 because you are out of your league.
Deej1188 3 years ago
You'd feel safer having 10 rounds of a crappy caliber and calling the police?
Suit yourself. I trust my life to myself.
JustOneGunner 3 years ago
I'm not saying more isn't better. However, I'm not patrolling a border in Kosovo or anything. I'm just walking around. If I find myself in a shootout, I have much bigger issues. No one wants to run out of ammo but come on. Self defense is rarely like the movies.
Deej1188 3 years ago
Yeah, definitely. I think 2 extra magazines is reasonable, though, depending on how you carry them.
JustOneGunner 3 years ago
id try to blast them off myself instead of waiting 20 minutes for the cops to arrive

End of discussion.

Under our law, a person may use deadly physical force if he reasonably believes it to be necessary to defend himself [or someone else] from death or serious injury.
You ought to put a little more mental effort into understanding the pro-gun position rather than assuming we are all "crazy nuts".
Concealed Handgun License holders are necessarily law-abiding citizens with clean backgrounds and here in my home state of Oregon, not one CHL holder has *EVER* had their license revoked for gun crime.
woonix 3 years ago
The fact is that this american system would never work in somewhere like the UK, my home, because it is not been part of our history since its start. What people have to remember is that america was built on weapons. The nation started with a war, and haha if its gonna go out anytime, its gonna be because of one.
This is not to say that i agree with everyone owning weapons, just that people need to understand both points of view. There are pros and cons for either point of view.
Appclypse 3 years ago
Holmes and Watson never got arrested on weapons charges.
"Are you armed, Lestrade?"
The little detective smiled.
"As long as I have my trousers I have a hip-pocket, and as long as I have my hippocket
I have something in it."
"Good! My friend and I are also ready for emergencies."
How times have changed...
JPaganel 3 years ago
I am not sure i understand what you are getting at? Or are you pointing out that police or detectives didn't carry weapons back then?
Appclypse 3 years ago
Elementary, my dear Appclypse. :)
JPaganel 3 years ago
I understand self defense. But what you were talking about earlier was "preventing crimes". To me that sounds like renegade justice. I work in law enforcement, and I deal with our counterparts across the border, so I do know about the pro-gun position and I'm not calling all Americans crazy nuts... just the people who feel they need to carry a firearm at all times. I'm pro gun (for regulated hunting, target practice, law enforcement officers), anti concealed weapon.
canadianmaple09 3 years ago
By preventing crimes, what I meant was protecting myself from becoming the victim of a crime.
Suppose I am approached in parking garage by a knife-wielding man a that is angry because I accidentally cut him off in traffic, what are my options? Run and hope I am faster than him? Take my chances in hand-to-hand combat? Beg for mercy? How do I defend myself against a determined attacker when I have no weapon? I'd really like to know so I can save myself if the situation ever comes up.
woonix 3 years ago
I'm a runner, so I know what my response would be! I figure either you can be tough or run fast. But say you're not a runner. Your best option would be to talk him out of it. Any reasonable person, no matter how angry they get, will realize that doing life in prison for murder is not worth revenge for a traffic infraction. What if you are carrying a gun, but he charges you before you can get it fully out? It could easily wind up in his hands and be used against you. You're really not much safer.
canadianmaple09 3 years ago
I agree with you in principle that it is better to apply calm reason to a conflict wherever possible, however not every person you encounter is guaranteed to be reasonable. There is such a thing as road rage, criminals, and sociopaths. Also, everyone does not have the physical capability to fend off a much larger and stronger attacker which is why women get raped.
As for weapon retention, that's something that can be addressed with training and preparation, just as you do in law enforcement.
woonix 3 years ago
What I'm trying to say is, adding more weapons to the situation doesn't make it any safer. Each new weapon you introduce just gives the person carrying them more options to do harm.
canadianmaple09 3 years ago
I say that having more options to harm a bad guy is a good thing when escape is not an option.
woonix 3 years ago
the idea of conceal carry is that bad guys dont know who can defend themselves.
is a civic duty to prevent crimes.
If I see something and call the cops to prevent something that can be prevented, does that make me one of those justice renegades?
terahybrid 3 years ago
Renegade justice is when you take care of the problem yourself. Calling the police and having them take care of the situation does not make you a renegade.
canadianmaple09 3 years ago
sorry I still don't understand by take care of the problem means.
terahybrid 3 years ago
what is renegade justice?
terahybrid 3 years ago
Read my last comment. I explained it. Here it is again in different words: Renegade justice is when a citizen (non military, non law enforcement officer) enforces justice.
canadianmaple09 3 years ago
you got to forgive me I still dont get it
enforcing justice like I go out pretending I'm a police officer? nobody here does that, you will go to jail for that.
terahybrid 3 years ago
Exactly. That's what I'm saying... why do citizens need to carry concealed weapons? Studies show that states that allow concealed weapons have very similar crime rates to those that don't. Allowing concealed weapons doesn't deter criminals. Neither does the death penalty. So why allow either?
canadianmaple09 3 years ago
renegade justice / enforcing justice = conceal weapons, so thats what you meant.
ok you lost me again, people with conceal weapons dont go out and start looking to stop criminals, so yes it doesnt stop crime
excuse me but some crazy sociopaths do deserve the death penalty
terahybrid 3 years ago
Actually, you're an outright liar. The level of gun control in an area varies jointly with the amount of crime. That's an inarguable fact -- just look at major liberal cities.
If you think allowing concealed carry doesn't deter criminals, you're either retarded or ignorant. If you're a criminal, and you know your mark might be armed, you won't care? Right. That makes total sense.
Disarming law-abiding citizens doesn't do any good for anyone, besides criminals. Not to mention the second amendment
JustOneGunner 3 years ago
But disarming everyone does alot of good
Appclypse 3 years ago
I never said anything at all about disarmament; if you would've read my comments, I was stating it makes sense to carry extra ammunition.
JustOneGunner 3 years ago
"Disarming law-abiding citizens doesn't do any good for anyone," thats a quote, so i have no idea what youare talking about.
Appclypse 3 years ago
Disarming everyone does a lot of good, according to you, then.
I thought you were being sarcastic, because that statement is ridiculously incorrect.
JustOneGunner 3 years ago
No it is not incorrect at all, it is entirely unfesable, but not incorrect. But you know what, killing is a crime and you are simply renaming it by calling it self defence. You don't reduce crime you just rename it, and so the figures look favourable towards you.
That is a fact you cannot denie, figures can be made to look favourable towards anyone.
Appclypse 3 years ago
That's not true at all. Self defense isn't a crime. By your logic, it makes more sense to let someone kill you, instead of defending yourself?
Fucking moron.
JustOneGunner 3 years ago
Pah, your insults only show that you do not have a solid arguement, and of course, your gonna be a little girl about it. Frankly, not got time for your moany bullshit.
Grow up and learn to form an arguement without throwing insults, honestly you only prove my point more by saying that.
Oh, btw, the "self defense isn't a crime" is not gonna float because "self defence" is an EXCEPTIONALY grey area, people get quite loose when there are no consiquences.
Appclypse 3 years ago
I don't have a solid argument? You're telling me it makes more sense to let yourself die. Kinda hard to insult the amount of sense anyone else is making with that kind of ideology.
Self defense is not a grey area. If someone is attacking you, you have the right to defend yourself, period. That's extremely simple.
JustOneGunner 3 years ago
Yh in a perfect wolrd you mug, in reality you cannot say what happened because you were not there, it makes prosicution of the "actual" criminal exceptionally difficult, which is the point. If i killed someone, illegally, and claimed it was self defence i could get away with it if there was sufficient envidence, yet i sitll murdered someone.
Im not saying you should allow yourself to die, but don't turn inocents into killers, which is, in actual fact, what you are proposing.
Appclypse 3 years ago
Are you an idiot? You'd have to make it look like they were trying to kill you, if you intended to murder them and claim it was self defense. It'd also have to be in a situation where you'd be there anyway, for another reason. Those two things make your argument extremely thin and non-realistic.
I'm proposing that each person adequately defend themselves, not to 'turn innocents into killers' at all.
JustOneGunner 3 years ago
Pah then you live in a fairy land mate, because the world does not work like that. Whether you like it or not it is a grey area. People are stupid, stupid as fucking apes alot of them, and they will kill if you give them a means to. It is human nature.
Appclypse 3 years ago
First of all, it's spelled defense. Second, There is nothing wrong with fighting for your survival. Avoiding that situation is up to you. The gun grabbing sissies usually go after the legal guys, because it's easier to take them from law abiding citizens than it is the gangbangers that might hurt you.
plechatam 3 years ago

Look it up. You should always exercise all your rights or lose them.
armydawg00 2 years ago
I don't see why anyone would need to conceal a firearm on themselves. I know you can get concealed weapons permits over the border in Michigan (I live in Windsor, Ontario) but I think that just makes walking around on the streets more dangerous. I work as a border officer and I'll warn all Americans that carry concealed weapons, carrying a concealed firearm into Canada will now get you a mandatory 3 year prison sentence.
canadianmaple09 3 years ago
The police respond to crimes. Armed citizens prevent crimes. Does that clear it up for you?
woonix 3 years ago
That doesn't make any sense at all. Shooting a person, even if they are about to commit a crime, is a crime in itself. And if you've shot the person before they commit the crime in order to "prevent" it, then you've shot an innocent person. So by trying to prevent the crime, you've caused another, quite possibly more serious crime (murder). I feel much safer on this side of the border knowing that crazy nuts like you aren't walking around with concealed guns looking to be a hero.
canadianmaple09 3 years ago
Gotta say candian, i agree with you on this one. It is almost a slightly sick irony but its a very real one. But it would be impossilbe to disarm america, there would be another damn revelotion, it would be like taking away the NHS in britian, to even try would be foolish, americans love there guns that won't change.

Sometimes. Usually if I've just gotten up and haven't gotten ready for the day I won't be armed, but if I leave and am armed and come home I'll often just stay armed.

i need your expert advice on some really good holsters for a Glock 26 and Glock 19.

Oh well, Part 5!
limalife 3 years ago
what's your and your husband's opinion on the comfort of IWB vs. OWB?
Seif5034 3 years ago
I find my leather IWBs to be much more comfortable because they "breathe" a little more and are not so rigid, especially for sitting. Granted, since pregnant, any IWB has become uncomfortable due to the growing belly, but I expect to return to them for their ease of concealment once this little one is born. Typically, I've found, if the holster is of good quality and your belt is sturdy, you will be comfortable.
limalife 3 years ago
Pending on exactly which holsters we're talking about, either style can be very comfortable or very uncomfortable. The all leather IWB in this series if vids is a Milt Sparks VersaMaxII and is by far one of the best IWB rigs I've ever used. As long as I'm not spending too many hours sitting, it's fine. The OWB is on the whole more comfortable IMHO, but it does compromise concealability. All in all, my IWB is very comfortable in almost all circumstances. One thing that needs to be covered is....
jdlv40 3 years ago
...That along with a good holster, you also NEED a good belt, I use to think that any good thick belt from JCPenny was ok, but I was wrong, my first real "gun" belt and I was convinced that a good belt designed to be sturdy enough to support a gun and holster is a must.
