If you dislike something, at least say why!
For me, I love the song, and the performance is as good as the best I've ever heard.
LOVE IT! tone, character, diction: superb. pianist equally wonderful. great help for me, cuz I'm accompanying a friend on this this semester. Thanks! =)
Like all those who've posted so far, I really like this rendition -- and this is coming from someone who's just listened to John Tomlinson's version at the Royal Albert Hall with orchestral backing! Great tone, great diction (except for one place, IIRC), and clean lines. Maybe a bit too clean for a Vagabond? I've been wondering whether to try this as an audition piece, torn between it and Holst's 'Ushas'. Still undecided, arghh! But great job, another tick in the VW column.
hi ed! how are you? i am in my music lesson and i was listening to William Herschel and then I decided to listen to you. btw wh is best known for finding uranus but he also composed music!
This is a great song for your voice. Carol Kimball writes about this song in her book, and she talks about the declamatory nature of the character. You perform this song wonderfully, but maybe we could all take a page from her book and be more narative while experiencing the character.
I have to admit this is my least favourite of Vaughan Wiliams 'Songs of Travel' but none the less very well done. Have you looked at the rest of the cycle
I enjoy this song very much but try to stick your neck out it is distracting to the song. Also good dynamics.
