I have visited the Trinity Site in New Mexico where the worlds first atomic bomb was detonated 65 years ago--but I dont think I want to go snooping around Pripyat kicking up dust. I have seen videos where Geiger counters go nuts in certain areas--especially around the destroyed reactor.
@pandemicrazor i live in ukraine and all i can say is there are very little experts there. these 'guides' are mostly stalkers and people who just want to earn money by endangering other peoples' lives :(
@marykiev yeah but the people want to go there just for an experience like for example sky diving. any ways one microsivert an hour wont kill you as long you stay in that range no longetr then a day
OMG! 1R/h alone on vegetation outside(?!!!) , and you are all walking in an enclosed environment with unknown readings inside the friggen buildings.. kicking up dust. Jessus!! bare hands too and no protective clothing... Brilliant!!! Can you say lung cancer and leukemia!!
I think the most haunting part of your video was the part with all those gas masks on the floor. A chilling reminder of their attempt at trying to save lives.
It's open to the public since 2000 or something like that.
The price depends. If you want to be absolutely alone with your guide, it costs around 400$. But we preferred to be in a group (we were around 40, and then divided into three groups in Pripyat), so the price is only 70$.
With the strong euro over dollar, it's nothing, really.
Ahaha... It was really interesting, yeah ;). I was 1 year old when the Soviet Union was dissolved, quite fun when you hear the coca cola cup story, it sounded... incredible to me ;).
Where did you read that they plan to build a new city here ? I think that Pripyat and Chernobyl nuclear plant will, later, stay here as a "museum". And they want to protect the city too...
No recomendaria tocar muchas cosas de ese sitio ni comer en algun restaurante de ahi...

@kanal3 That's true, although our guide was lax on this subject.
Personnally, I've thrown away all my clothes, but some people did not do that.
bakura10 2 years ago
hmm... wouldnt the clothing be declared toxic? you know from the radiation? didnt you have to throw them away at a nuclear plant or something?
toonman81 2 years ago
@kanal3 There is more risk than going to Disneyland. But, to be honest, we stayed only a few hours, and I doubt there was any risk.
bakura10 2 years ago
i dont believe that there will be a new city... the radiation will last for about 2500 years! i hope theyll keep it as a museum
