He absorbed the Supreme Kai's, specifically Grand Supreme Kai, the highest ranked kai in the universe and a jolly fat guy who loved food, and Kid Buu became Fat Majin Buu the brain-child. When he expelled the evil half, Fat Buu became an entity all on his own that he had never been before.
