  • God, i hope they will some day release FF 6 on 3DS online store.

  • Chills..

  • If people would just ditch calling this anything but FFVI, then we'd have no problems. We've known the proper title for this for years, it's only known as FFVI now.

Stop holding onto stupid marketing choices of the past that are no longer relevant. We have had every FF now. Sheesh. Tired of that crap. It's Final Fantasy VI. Period.

  • This is what happens when art overcomes technology.

  • People troll and bash these really have NO idea, you dont know everything or anything.

Kendama*one who bash troll wipe clean the FF forums against trollers and mid game fans people who knows only the shiny graphics of a game and lame people who know only the FF lames starts from 9 onwards which DONT have any FF foundation anymore.

Hard to find true friends and people..But i want to make a community where every true gamers can share every memories...like these best games ever made.

  • @FFfreakepic03 Well said! There are small pieces of the original masterpieces woven into the new Final Fantasy games, but nothing that is truly as memorable as the first seven games.

  • @FFfreakepic03 "Troller" isn't a word. It's "troll".

  • Best game series ever made and will ever made...nostalgia,memories, everything.

And now? people say graphics and everything people who knows gaming that is just the way it is with fun or excitment?people who say with big mouth born on 2000s. They have NO idea what these are. How it changed many true RPG gamers back 90s where people every true insights. The first time of playing these games ..so epic so perfect no other games now can. Those games ...

    ever,

  • is it just me or does that sound pretty much exactly the same as aeriths theme lol

  • @LucyBlondeFace

Aerith's theme was made using a lot of the melody from this song. :] That's why they sound so similar.

  • Thanks to my friend Chris for sharing this with me!

  • In the description you say FFIII in US/Eu, slughty wrong, this game was never released in Europe as FF3 on SNES.

  • Sorry to be "that guy," but I just wanted to point out in the description you refer to the game as FFIII in Europe, but it only came out there as FFVI (since the SNES version wasn't released there).

  • @MezaseMaster - What? FFVI were released in EU as FFIII. What are you talking about?

  • @Zeithri I'm pretty sure it first came out there on the Anthology collection, where it was known as VI.

  • @MezaseMaster - A check on wiki makes it seem like you're correct. Meh, cba ^_^

  • @Zeithri well in china it was 6 everywhere else it was made number 3

  • @MezaseMaster . actually it was FF3 only cause 2,3,4,5, werent licensed in Europe and america at the time. just like FF2 is actually FF4. you ever notice the jump from FF3 to FF7 0.o

  • @sandune02 and my bad ff4 was released but only titled at ff2

  • @sandune02 No I understand that, but I was pointing out that jump didn't happen in Europe, because they didn't get the Super Nintendo Final Fantasy games.

  • @MezaseMaster FFVI was never released in the EU as FFIII, the first final fantasy released in Europe was FFVII we got FFVI in 2000/2001 as a standalone PS1 game released as Final Fantasy VI

  • @cloudlionheart Oh, I didn't know it was standalone, I thought it was released along with Anthology like here, my bad. I knew the rest of that though.

  • I'll never forget the first time I saw this. I was literally moved to tears. I have to say, too, I like the lyrics from FFIII US so much more than any of the other versions. Maybe it's all nostalgia, but something about, "I'm the darkness, you're the stars" and "so gently, you touched my heart" really move me!

    Spoilers

The part where Celes jumps from the cliff (if Cid dies) is extremely powerful too-you can almost feel her sense of desperation. Then a glimmer of hope returns with the airship!

  • I cry everytime I hear this theme T^T, It's so beautiful.

  • Every time I hear aeris' theme I always think of this song instead.

  • what a sad song.. damn.. really touch my heart..

  • I think for me it's less tragic for the scene and more for the nostalgia of my youth, SNES and FF6 were parts of my past, Honestly the SNES is still better than any other system I've played the library of games....

  • I myself am 18 years old and I consider this as one of the scenes that prove the most how much more epic, intense and beautiful old games are. I have played Monkey Island, Wing Commander, Kings Quest, all the great classics, and I am overwhelmed by their storytelling, which new games lack.

  • @MaddinW1993 Agreed, those all had to rely heavily on story telling. This game, FF6, has epic story, gameplay, presentation, and music. The graphics were amazing for the time period and I personally prefer that period FF's to today.

  • @NemesisTheZombieKing - There is a Opera for this with real voices. Look it up.

  • @NemesisTheZombieKing Age: 15

Maybe you would get it if you were even born when this game came out, kiddo.

  • @derschlauepeter I don't see how that effects anything. I wasn't born during the holocaust but I'm still sad about it. There are some songs that do make me sad but...this one just doesn't, sorry.

  • @NemesisTheZombieKing Oh. Sorry for coming off a bit harsh there, I've met so many teens on the Internet that dislike older video games on principle because they're old, I just threw you into that category.

You might want to give FF6 a try though, it's a great game.

  • @derschlauepeter that's not it at all! I love most older games...I just don't see how this is sad, same thing for the aeris death thing and that game isn't that old.

  • @NemesisTheZombieKing

haha quiet foghorn! I love this scene very much, but you make me laugh. Thank you.

However, you can think this way: Celes, pure as snow, she doesn't know her emotion well.

How can she perform well in the opera? Remember, Locke saved her, and before she stepped on the platform, Locke came to ease her nervousness. What do you think these acts suggests?

How can a girl who doesn't know love perform a love scene well?

It's because she turns her emotion toward Locke to it

  • @tharthar3 I'm not sure whether your trying to insult me or not....but again it doesn't effect me emotionally..thats all Im saying. I never said it was a bad cutscene...but in the end its just a cutscene...

  • @NemesisTheZombieKing

I'm not. It's foghorn that is so funny : )

  • @tharthar3: never argue or reason with an idiot - he will bring you down to his level and win out by experience. It's sort of like when you show "Magic Flute" to a pig and the pig will simply oink, take a shit, then eat the pile of shit like nothing happened.

  • @NemesisTheZombieKing try the game out, it's pretty fun. if you don't believe this scene is sad than thats fine, everyone has their own opinions. i dont get why people vote negative when you are giving your honest view. but anyways try the game its def. worth it

  • @NemesisTheZombieKing We cry because back in 1994, this was the most stunning and emotive scene in video game history. No other game did what FFVI (or III) did in that time... It's mind blowing.

  • @NemesisTheZombieKing In addition to everything everyone else has said I thought I should say the point of this scene isn't filler, it's called dramatic imagery. The emotions and stories of the characters parallel the story of the opera. It also foreshadows events to come in the story that haven't even happened yet. In addition the music is extremely powerful and uses many of the motif's heard in Celes' own theme, again another piece of musical symbolism to relate it to the story.

  • @NemesisTheZombieKing Look up The Black Mages: Darkness and Starlight. There's a 15 minute version of this exact scene with 3 very respectable opera singers playing the 2 male leads and the female lead. There's also a theatrical version of this that occurred on stage at one of the concerts in Japan. Look it up on YouTube.

  • @NemesisTheZombieKing I guess an imagination is wasted on some people since they don't use it.

  • @NemesisTheZombieKing honestly its probably a combination of things, the first being that the novelty of a 'voice' singing out of the SNES was novel and new, but if you listen to the music on a stereo insted of TV speakers, its music sounds HUGE.

But probably the bigger factor behind the emotional response is people who've played the game -know- this theme is reprised later when Celes throws herself off a cliff in desperate loneliness. It makes an impact.

  • i just started playing this on virtual consel on the wii and i have to say this is one of the most emotional gaming scenes i've ever seen

  • Geeze...just watched this again. It makes me cry every single time. I have no shame in that.

  • Celes gave me a boner.

  • this will always hold a place in my heart as the first RPG I ever played...

  • ugh.... I hate it when people are bashing everything about FF7.

First of all, the reason why it sounded like Aerith's theme is because it Aerith theme came from this song. If you look at the lyrics, it sounded like it's about Aerith and Zack, even the story itself. Aerith is waiting for Zack to come back while Zack's trying to save Cloud. Anyway, FF6's story sounds very interesting!

  • is it me or does part of the melody sound like its the same as aerith's theme? whyd they recycle it for ff7???

  • Does anyone else kinda hear Aerith's theme in there at certain moments?

  • whats the name of the music before aria di mezzo carattere starts?

  • It's not just me that thinks this sounds like Aerith's theme in places?

Or rather that Aerith's theme sounds like this?

  • This REALLY needs to get ported to 3DS. Fully upgraded to 3D, real opera.. OMG O_O

  • I really should play these other FFs...this scene was so good...

  • i love opera becuse of this and its one of the many many reasons i love this game with the pation and grace of over 9000 suns:A

  • God dammit i was Born a little to late to even Experience this as a kid. (1992 would been around 4) Thank god it's in PSN in Japan soon so i hope for the Europen Realse :)

  • 2:40 Just magical...

  • If I could have one song that I could listen to at will anytime, it would be this or Still Alive.

  • This song is just soooo amazingly gorgeous. I never get tired of it.

  • Just got FF anthology and played 6 first. it's great so far but I still think 9 was far better and Garnet singing song of memories was way more touching.

  • Celes is great! yay!!

@ThePoopcornMachine: I totally agree with you,; nowadays games are not like relics we enjoyed in the past; FF6 is awesome :D

  • Childhood memories flooding back into my head after this! FF3 is the best in the series, kids nowadays missed out on many classical games, and this is one of them. I like this FF more because why? the bad guy wins, in which he destroys the world. now, the bad guy is always stopped. plus Shadow and Cyan. Sabin and his awesome fighting skills. Mog! that big Yeti, Gogo and Setzer! Cmon! Fav characters. even though i was only 6, i remember this epic game that is underated by today's society of kids.

  • It's truly a shame that games like this are hardly ever seen these days anymore (particularly RPG's). Now all we have these days are those shitty (not to mention overrated) First Person Shooters. The First Person Shooter Genre can go crawl up in a hole and die. RPG's have more emotional storytelling, memorable characters, awesome music, gameplay variety, innovation, and countless memorable experiences you won't soon forget. These kinds of games should be brought back to the modern era!!!

  • @FantasyFanatic222

Well, I wouldn't blame FPS's. First Person Shooters are just a different type of game all together-- they are competitive games rather than story-based. Its weird how they're lumped in with RPG's as "games". FPS's are to RPG's like Monday Night Football is to Casa Blanca. Sure they may both use the TV screen, but they're not similar. So I don't have a problem with FPS's. They're not the reason RPGs suck now days.

I blame today's cheap pop trends for that.

  • dude this sounds a lot like aeriths theme

  • I so wish I could write music like this...Does anyone else get goosebumps and watery eyed when they hear video game music like this???

  • . . . .;_;

*Slaps self in the face* GRR MONSTER TRUCKS FOOTBALL FOOTBALL HEAVY METAL !

  • Thumbs up if you sang loud this song along with the music and lyrics!!! XD

  • why do people say this is sad?

  • This is one of those experiences you never forget. I love when the score comes in at 2:45 incredible. To put the beauty of this game into words does it no justice.

  • el mejor ff :D q escena mas bella, y la musica exelente :D

  • This has to be one of my favourite old school Final Fantasy scenes believe it or not. ;)

  • This melody never gets old. FF III forever!

    -H-

  • did anyone else think Celes was sexy, or was it just me...?

  • @DrumTech17 No, Celes is very pretty. My favorite FF6 character without a doubt.

  • @Zeithri i also agree, but isnt it funny that we say that about a bunch of pixels... lol

  • @DrumTech17 I DID 2 OMG MAN SHE WAS SO MUCH HOTTER THAN TERRA

her and her sexy blonde hair..... lemme tell you 13 yr old aaron didnt know what to think

she can absorb my spells with her runic blade any day!!!!!

  • @604Aaron Holy shit, Aaron, control yourself.

  • @DrumTech17 I love Celes but I hope you on't mean her sprite. She looks like Polly Pocket.

  • @DrumTech17 Celes just gave me a boner.

    Nostalgia tears anyweay.

  • Easily the best FF ever, and second best RPG ever (I'm sorry, but the crown goes to Chrono Trigger, VI is in exceedingly close second though).

  • @Dracoa79 Don't be sorry, your opinion doesn't matter to anyone, just like mine, or those of other ordinary mortals... <.<

  • @FrederikundWilma

My opinion matters to me, and that's all that matters. I don't need, or even particularly care about other people's opinion's on my thoughts.

  • @Dracoa79 See? and that's why it's completely and utterly pointless to voice your opinion on the internet.

  • @FrederikundWilma

Actually, while I don't care what others think of my opinions, I do consider the opinions of others.

  • @Dracoa79 Mh I admit that you have a point there ;D

  • @Dracoa79

I loved Chrono Trigger. Loved! All time favorites are FFIII, CT, Breath of Fire, Legend of Gaia. Oh, and of course, Zelda.

    -H-

  • @TmaadHMD

Don't discount Secret of Evermore. That was a great, if underrated, game as well.

  • I didn't start FFVI until earlier this year, and I thought it was a good game until this scene... that was when I fell in love with it.

  • 4 persons head explodes with opera

  • @Damian4710 - I think their heads exploaded more because of the loud volume ;o

  • @Zeithri my balls will explode in a minute

  • 3:24 But my heart won't give you up, my heart won't let you down, I won't turn around and desert you.

  • Wow, i just got a SNES. And lemme tell you, even though I grew up with PS1 , this console is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The absolute Golden age of games.

  • @mavadoman Yes sir great console! "The only 2 system's nintendo made that I hate", or the VB, and gamecube.

  • Even if they call it Final Fantasy 3, please call it Final Fantasy VI, some ppl were dumb enough to release a game with such name, when this one is the 6th in row >.>

  • @Grovajl

Understandable, yet my cartridge clearly set FF III and will forever stay in my mind as FF III.

    -H-

  • Gawd,it's like all the FFVII fanboys suddenly like FFVI now. It's the best, but stop obsessing over it and attacking anyone who says otherwise.

  • Greatest scene ever in an RPG. Period.

  • I want to cry. I love this part.

  • Huh, on story, graphics, and sound, I prefer FF6. Gameplay, FF5.

  • Now imagine if you would, FF6 remade with better graphics and sound quality, but with the EXACT SAME storyline, characters, etc. Square would make a killing off of it, and I would probably throw up from how awesome it would be.

And just for the sake of trolling, Aerith's death scene in FF7 can suck it compared to the emotion of the opera/suicide scenes in FF6.

  • @sharkmaster99 I think so, for some reason I was sadder when Cid died and Celes tried to kill herself

  • @sharkmaster99 Yes a remake would be awesome, but I've also always imagined FF6 as a movie, can you imagine magitek armor units blowing Narshe apart and airship battles? But no cgi only movie, it would have to be live action, with mechanical magitek etc and they'd need to find quite the actor for the role of Kefka.

  • @PMeursault: I couldn't agree more on a live action interpretation. Sadly, the only actor who would be able to wield the might of Kefka has passed on: Heath Ledger.

  • @angelofragnarok

Pfft. Ledger? He couldn't hold a candle to CJ Collins' Kefka. CJ IS Kefka.

  • @sharkmaster99 i would buy a ps3 (cuz thats what i imagine it would probably be on) just to buy the remade version of FF6 and watch this scene. well of course i'd play the other parts of this epic game but still you know what i mean

  • @skwaag5233 haha i would too. if i had $400 at least lol

  • @sharkmaster99 FFVI and FFVII are my favorites in the series, but Aerith's death really didn't have much emotion. I felt Zacks death was a more "WTF" moment, because I don't think anyone was really expecting it, and considering it was hidden.

The Suicide scene I think is the most emotionally charged scene in the series.

  • @sharkmaster99 Amen.

  • @sharkmaster99 Damn right. Aeris's very music is just a rip of this. FF7 can choke on dez nuts!

  • For years, people who love genres like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean, and Suikoden will buy whatever comes out that has the logo on it without ever renting or previewing them first based off of how it looks. Many will support a series even if it's makers are creating terrible games and since video game developers are businesses, like any other, they go for what is profitable. As long as players buy them, developers will think its okay to make crappy games.

  • You as the consumer have to set the standard if you want a good game with excellent stories. Continue supporting half-ass work and you'll get a half-ass game. If you want to see games like FFIV and FFVI again, then you've got to quit buying every Final Fantasy that comes out regardless of its quality. I just SAW FFXIII and knew it was gonna be bad and sure enough, its one of the worst. Yet it still profited and people will still defend it up and down.

  • @Str8Murder

    THIS.

  • @Str8Murder It kinda all went downhill after 6/7 in my opinion. Both great games that I wasted weeks of my life playing (With great joy, mind you). 10 was the last one I could even stand playing. I skipped 11, tried 12, got to like the floating city or whatever it was, then said fuck it. I dont think I could defend the latest games even if I wanted to.

  • @sharkmaster99 oh God yes. Rachel's death was far more tragic than Aerith's. Locke had been spending the entire game trying to make it right, only to fail in the end....while Aerith's was rather random, and I never could put much emotional stock into her to begin with.

  • @sharkmaster99

To be fair, she didn't die with the suicide. So... yeah

  • @autosaver The suicide attempt itself means very little. It is the grief and trauma that leads up to it, and the hope that the little bird brings that make it such a powerfully emotional scene.

  • @sharkmaster99

I never played FF6. Only saw the suicide scene and this. I'm hoping for a remake on the 3DS.

  • @autosaver Awwwww dude(or chick) you're missing out! You gotta play the game! My favorite rpg, possibly favorite game evar!

  • @sharkmaster99

Well, since FF6 was originally going to be remade for DS but wasn't due to the handheld being weak... I'm sure it'll arrive on the 3DS. I'd pick it up Day one if it does (It'd probably be the best experience too!)

  • @sharkmaster99 I know your comment was 8 months ago, but I do not remember any Suicide scenes in this game bro, and I just played FFVI about a month ago, the only people I remember dying were Leo, Gestahl, and Cid, which NONE were suicidal.

  • @pharphaine - Youtube for "Celes suicide" and you should find it.

  • @pharphaine Celes attempted suicide, but did not die from the leap/fall. It's just easier to type "suicide" rather than "attempted suicide". Of course, you might have fed Cid all the good fish on the island, which would save him and completely skip the scene entirely. I on the other hand fed him bad fish my first playthrough, which ended up killing him ( /cry ), leading to said scene.

  • @sharkmaster99 Oh yeah, now I remember, I guess I just not really remembered that much since, this is just me, it didn't really make that much of an impact on me. Come to think of it, I don't think any death scenes from any game gets me emotional...

  • @sharkmaster99 not to mention General Leo's death.

  • @trickman01 Leo was AWESOME. Until he got pwned. Sadface...

  • @sharkmaster99 Aeriths death scene is only famous because FF7 was famous and no one was expecting her death. but yeah a remake of this would make them waayyyyyy more and be wayyyyyyy better than the trash they are throwing out now. i admit that FF13 did redeem them a little because the story was awesome. but the gameplay made it suck bad. final fantasy is a dying series because they are running out of ideas. if only someone brilliant could take charge of the series

  • the best final fantasy ever.

  • This does kind of remind me of Aerith's theme, now that it is mentioned. The story in the lyrics does kind of apply to what happenned between Aerith and Zack.

  • Maybe I'm delving too deep, but it's eerie yet touching how the lyrics "Come what may/I won't age a day/I'll wait for you always" seem to echo the plight of Odin and the queen in the hidden ruins found later in the game.

  • Is this the original? or the GBA ver.?

  • @starrmagic0 It's the orginal.

  • @starrmagic0 It's the original.

  • And people still argue that VII is the better game...sigh...

  • The game's name is Final Fantasy 6.

  • I love this song and I almost cried when I first heard it!

  • @danielvutran - No, I'm not. I honestly don't rate FF6 as high as most others do. It's a matter of taste.

  • Comment removed

  • For me it's a tossup between FFVI and FFIV. Both were amazing games and I have fond memories of both.

  • I got only 1 word for Square-Enix: REMAKE NOW!!!!!

  • I remember having MIDI's of this song back in the day when everyone had a Geocities page

  • E P I C !

  • I played this when I was six! D:>

I wish they had the version of this from the Super Nintendo on YouTube so I could rewatch it. ._.

    Nostalgic purposes only.

  • @BllueInfinitium - What? This is the Super Nintendo version ?_?

  • @Zeithri Oh, no, I know! What I meant was, I wish they had the entire game on here, so I could watch it. :]

  • Kinda Touching. Aah who am i kidding is very touching-

  • Im a general, not some opera floozy

  • This brings me some pretty good memories.

I've first played FF6 only a year ago lol Is it too soon to feel nostalgic? Because I already do lol

  • I cry when I sing this. It is indeed a beautiful song.

  • Is it ok if I cry when I hear this?

  • I just posted this video to facebook with the message "Anyone who doesn't like this song can get off my friend list!" Anyone who leaves wont be missed. If they dont like this joint, they ain't got a soul anyway.

  • Ironic how a this is a better love song than Eyes On Me even though the FF8 scene is supposed to be real and this is a stage

GOD i hate eyes on me.

  • Best Final Fantasy Scenes:

    FF6: The Opera Scene

    FF7: Aeris's Death

    FF8: Ending

    FF9: Alexander protects Alexandria

    FF10: Macalania Springs

    FF12: ... Never finished

    FF13: Grand Prix Crash

  • @perbearman You forgot:

FF1: Revelation of Garland and Chaos

FF2: -not played, please fill in someone-

FF3: Fight vs Cloud of Darkness (I'd say)

FF4: Return of Rydia the summoneer

FF5: The stupid ideas of Butz & "Old Man"!

  • @Zeithri I'd say that Cecil becoming a Paladin or the rising of the Lunar Whale would be a little stronger than Rydia coming back. Not that I have anything against Rydia. :)

  • @perbearman for ff7, you prolly should have putten spolier alert before that. not everyone has played ff7 yet.

  • @perbearman

FF8: Squall saves Rinoa in space and scene inside of the Ragnarok.

    FF9 Ending (drama scene).

FF10: Rikku taking off that Al Bhed suit for the first time...

  • This is mesmerizing. truly epic.

  • one of the best storylines of any game ever

  • How come it is that I've never even played this game and this song just made me sob my eyes out?!

  • @twilightgamer92

It just means you DEFINITELY need to play this game. ;)

  • @twilightgamer92 yeah you are missing out, go play this.

  • ff4 was my first and i like it the most but ff6 has the best story this scene proves that . ff 7 , ff8 etc are much newer and because of that have better gameplay but 4 and 6 are the best

  • Best part of game <3

  • Scenes like this made FF6 so beautiful. That game played so well and left such an imprint on the FF series.

  • (Hurry! You have just moments before Scene 2 starts! The Impresario)

  • It's aria DI mezzo carattere, btw.

  • EPIC!

  • Up till now I always thought FF VIII was the best FF game but after viewing this scene the crown no belongs to VI!
