i can't understand why this video is receiving such low hits. Imo this is stan at his utmost - soulful, melodic and hypnotising. the inflections in his voice are chilling and the pain in his lament is heart wrenching. this should be treasured by everyone. sigh xxxxx

WOW, a classic from 1971 - first performed by Bette Midler (I think), then recorded by The Carpenters, and many other artists covered it from there (our beloved Luther being one of them). Stan's take on it is up there with The Carpenters, in my opinion. Superb performance Mr Walker!!! You're 'hall of fame' in my book!

it seems we both stand corrected....after researching this.....'superstar' was written by bonnie bramlett & leon russell (1969), but the best known version was performed by the carpenters in 1971.

Ive just figured out why Stan is better than anyone that I have ever heard. Its not just his voice. His gift is that he uses notes that no one else can hear. The exact comment that was given when he did purple rain. Check out the note change at 1.52, bloody unbelievable don't you think? If he sung this song like Luther, it would be nothing special. But hell, he did it again. Just amazing!!!!
