You had me cracking up silly!! I was going to make a video just like this. Whenever I do, I'll make it as a video response to this. Cabasse, you hit the nail on the head!! Windpowerrocks, you seriously had me rolling on the floor! I was cracking up soooo bad!!!!!! Especially when the guy fell down at the end OMG You NEED to keep this up!
unlike those other nutty videos, we have the sound of your voice to compare with the background noise... if you cranked the volume up high enough to hear the blade turbulence, your voice would probably blow my speakers.
people are selfish, and don't care if their desires are detrimental to improvement in the world.
Noise - you don't know the half of it!!! Check out this Nuke power plant carrying out its regular siren testing, see NHEQaXqaIv4, it does this regularly!!! And anyway, why does it need a siren, is it to warn everyone to run for their lives when it all starts to go wrong!! Give me wind power any day!!
dude, you wouldn't know a 'voice of reason' if it promised to give you a blow job. You have failed to answer any of the points I have put to you in several postings. You have no answers to the demands of climate change or energy security. This is for all to see in your silly contributions so far. What exactly is it that you are interested in?
A few colleagues of mine have recently supported a huge new turbine to power Glyndebourne Opera House, East Sussex. So far so good the locals have supported us. But as far as your Nuclear argument goes, we have to have both. Wind alone simply cannot meet demand of this heavy industrial nation. This is the price we're going to have to pay to meet C02 targets.
I agree that wind can't do it all and that we need an energy mix. Let's say, for example, that we did go for 'some' nuclear as you suggest. There is only just about enough uranium for one more generation of nuclear power stations. We'd still have to come back to renewables afterwards.
You might be interested to know that tidal turbines are not far away. There's one called SeaGen that's being trialed at the mo.
I'm no fan of nuclear: it's dirty, dangerous and expensive.
do pass the link to this vid around your friends. I want all to know what a bunch of self-interested, climate change denying freaks wind nimbys are :)
Man-made climate change is the greatest global threat that we face - Not to take action to address it or to actively oppose measures intended to tackle it are small minded and highly irresponsible. Wind power, both on and offshore must and will play a key role in our energy mix along with other renewables, energy efficiency, DE, and state of the art CHP plants. The UK has 40% of the European wind resource and the potential to be a world class leader. Wind power ? Bring it on !!!
You've not heard of Decentralised Energy (DE)? You're not much of an energy expert are you 'wind sucks'. Let me help you. You'll feel better. Relax and throw out your nimby neuroticism and then look at energy issues with a fresh mind. Have a look at the Greenpeace website for info on DE.... or are they 'in on the conspiracy' as well?
So far 'wind sucks' you've said you're pro-nuclear and have complained about subsides for wind power. I'm sure you know that nuclear receives the biggest subsidy of all. So clearly, you're not bothered about subsdies and wasting tax payers money. You just don't like wind power. And as for 'what happens when the wind stops blowing' - not heard of an 'energy mix'? This is really very basic stuff 'wind sucks.' Seems to me that you just don't like wind power - classic nimbyism.
White elephants? Hardly. Each turbine can provide electricity for around 1500 homes. Wind can easily do 20% of UK electricity. Wind power is growing exponentially across the world. Doesn't sound like an ineffectual technology to me.
In developed locations you often get a lot of turbulence for wind power to be effective. Plus, where could you site a 3MW turbine in a city? Also, you can't have people living right under the turbines. The minimum distance in the UK is 500m. People often ask 'why can't we have renewable technology XX instead of wind?' the answer is - we need it all - wind, wave, tidal, solar plus energy efficiency and decentralised energy.
nuclear? So you're not at all troubled by the enormous cost, toxic waste that lasts for thousands of years or the fact that wherever you get civil nuclear, you get military nuclear? Do you like any renewable technology?
Plundering and wasting fossil fuel: awful. The rape of the view by turbines: also awful, as far as I am concerned. I cannot quantify my distaste for the look of wind turbines, nor my distaste for being made fun of for disliking their look. In the USA, turbine-deployers are cashing in on tax credits and poor rural folk are pimping out their beautiful land. I live in a big city. Put the turbines here. It won't even make a dent in the view here. Plus, we're the ones who use most of the electricity.
I sympathise with you, but not liking the look of turbines is not a good enough reason not to have them. We need to weigh up the pros and cons of all everything we do here on Earth. Nuclear and fossil fuels have more 'cons' than renewables.
I appreciate the sympathy. And as a fan of nuclear holocaust movies, I'll never argue the cons of nuclear. Nuclear waste alone is obviously a horrible, unsolved problem. BUT. What about small-scale, widely-distributed, AGGREGATED HARVESTING of wind energy in cities & other developed locales? TELL ME why we should not focus public attention on and demand robust governmental / industrial support to develop and promptly deploy this better, TECHNOLOGICALLY FEASIBLE, option?
oh I see - you mean why not have loads of micro wind turbines instead. Well, roughly, you'd need 5000 micro wind turbines for one large 2MW turbine. As I said in my other comment - we need both. We need ALL renewables.
ok windsucks, there are many many scientists that also believe that climate change is real and at any rate, petroleum based products are a finite resource, we are right now hitting the peak of oil production which means oil is only going to keep getting more and more expensive. And last time I checked if for every MW of wind energy we need 1 MW of traditional, that means we no longer need 2 MV of traditional power.
Well, I think YOU should do YOUR research. Noise monitoring was carried out at the house of Jane Davis. It was deemed not to be a problem. So you have to ask yourself - what exactly is her problem? The Davis' have of course dug themselves into a hole; by claiming that their house value has been slashed, it's become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I love this comment from RFontes. Typical of the insaniacs you get in the anti-wind movement. My friend, you're the reason I make these videos in the first place :)
To all those suffering from the scourge of windturbines - START YOUR PROTEST NOW! Get off of YouTube find a way to power your computer with pedals. Shut off the main power to your home. Call the eletric company and demand your service be removed at once! If enough of your brethren follow suit the electric companies will cease to exist and so will the turbines! Also remember not to light and draw all your shades so the shadow flicker doesn't get you!
I would do, but the turbine won't be working. Wind turbines are shut down in very high winds - about 1% of the time. Yes, that's right, just 1%. And before you ask - they are not working due to low wind about 15% of the time. In other words, they are operational 84% of the time! That's great!!
@MrMeddled has got his head screwed on, i agree with this totally!

If it's not renewable, then you're dependent on it. What else would be the answer? Your argument makes no sense.

Funny, creative and wacky commentary on those who oppose alternative energy using bizarre reasoning.
Wind power - even at its worst - is far better for the environment than coal-fired power plants.
At its best - wind energy - is one step closer to using God's power to light our planet.
Keep fighting the good fight.
