To those of you who are looking for Monty he is now semi-retired, is my most beloved pet and is living with me in Connecticut. I started leasing him from Patty's mom about 2 years ago and bought him this winter when I realized I could never be parted from him. He is a beautiful animal, and is mentally not ready to retire, AT ALL! He's just coming off an injury so we'll see how it goes. But he is alive and doing quite well, still a big lovable goof.
Thank you for posting this! Patty is an amazing rider, no doubt about it. I was lucky enough to have her as my trainer from 94-96 and she brought along my lovely hunter horse Lily. Monty was an incredible horse--super sweet and he really loved Patty.
"I saw the videos of him doing dressage after I left this comment...I am thrilled to see that he is still going strong! Do you know where his owner is located?"
Not off hand, but she was very courteous to me when I wrote her with some questions about him, so give it a try :)
do you have any knowledge as to where I could find a video of one of Rox Dene's hunter rounds? I've searched EVERYWHERE for one, and have yet to run across such :(
I have several videos of that gorgeous girl doing the working hunters from the Newport Classic in 1995. They were filmed pre-digital video so I have to get them transferred from a VHS tape. I've been meaning to do it for sometime.
This horse kicks ass...a real pleasure to watch.

Indeed. One of my favorite horses of all time... and still competing, just now in dressage! :)

She is a lovely rider. I love how she really stays with the horse and out of his face. Very smooth. :)

Thank you!! He was always well-spoiled with love and attention and I'm very happy to hear that he will have the same for the rest of his life.

"Monty was an incredible horse"
...not "was", but "is"!
He's still around, and competing in dressage as of even this year, at age 23. There's even some vids of him doing so here on YouTube.

I LOVE this horse! What an amazing athlete!
You can see him in the jumpoff against the other horses who went clean in this class, in the clip entitled '1995 Festival of Champions Jumpoff'
