Yuan is of Cruxis and Renegade, Kratos doesn't know that Yuan right now. Yuan is betraying Cruxis because of Mithos Yggdrasill's warped interpretation of Martel's last words which was "I want a world where everybody can live without discrimination." Which Mithos Yggdrasill took as to make everybody the same and Yuan thinks thats not what Martel wanted. So Yuan is wanting to destroy Martel by Germinating the Great seed.

@ItsAngelx33 I'm about half-way through the game and I'm pretty sure it says that the past chosens all failed in their quests because they were killed before they could finish WR. Raine mentions that Mithos controlled marriages so that each generation of chosens would be closer to having the same mana signature as Martel. Collete has one identical to Martel's and she has Kratos so that's probably why she's the most successful.

not really, Mithos, the guy they say is the hero in the legends, is the mastermind bad guy here. Martel is his sister and Yuan + Kratos were like their friends. Martel gave her soul to the Tree of mana and Mithos is trying to get his sister back.

He more of half good half bad, when Anna died (Lloyd's mom) he thought he lost his wife and son and gave up on life, so he followed Mithos' order blinding'till he met LLoyd, then he'll doublecross Mithos

spoiler warning  they fight mithos after they beat him mithos realises what he did was wrong and payed with his life. lloyd and collete stop this giant planet (derris kharlan) and send it hurling away from earth while kratos says his final goodbyes to his son and leaves with derris kharlan into the void of space where he will keep watch of it and the remaining angels of cruxis to find a peaceful place to stay for eternity
