how many people does mrs bates think she can receive in that little room?
it is funny flirting until couple are actually settled... "how does it feel to be in love?"
I love mr. knightley, the kind of man never seems lost or hesitating "he will be indiferent to my indiference".... I wonder what kind of man have jane austen married?...
@TheLuckyBlackswan she never married but she was in love with a guy like darcy not as rich as him but almost had his personality not as sweet as darcy tho u must watch becoming jane its a wonderful flim abt her and the guy she was in love with
Jane and Mr. Knightly together NO!! Why? Cause hes already in love!! Who? You may ask; hm....OH yes also Jane is love too. And Emma is JEALOUS!! Frank and Emma DO look good together; but i don't like his mouth!! If u don't know how it feels to be in love; then u probably NOT!!
I truly enjoy all the classics BBC put out. Also, they always cast such pretty & handsome actors! Love My Churchill & Mr Knightley. And I am in AWE of Emma's flawless face. Great script too! =)
"You must wrap up warm, Emma, in case some of the young dancers do something remarkably reprehensible, like opening a window." Aw, he's just too cute! :D
I don't understand why Mr. Churchill would talk so badly about Jane Fairfax when he's engaged to her. Is he really trying that hard to avoid suspicion?!
Great sets and costumes. This is as wonderful interpretation as is the one with GP and with KB.They all add a slightly diffferent flavor. I like the continuing thread in this one which highlights Emma's lack of travel ( and her father's fear of travel) outside High Berry ( sp?) as opposed to Frank, Jane and Mrs. Elton, Mr Knightly and Emma's sister. The end where Emma sees the sea for the first time is perfect for this version.

I think its just something about back then that makes men automatically more attractive. Possibly something to do with their dresscode and their manners.
But I view "like" as romantic. I didnt mean as a person. i meant as a boy/girl relationship.. but i havent seen this in so long, and i havent read the book.
i've never read the book yet. I do think it does show far too much flaunt of emotion. I am pretty sure Emma will end up with Mr. Knightly. I do like Frank though; he seems really sweet. Ok forgive me but I loathed Mr. Elton, but I thought he was reasonably handsome. This love square thingy reminds me of a midsummer night's dream.

Oh my goodness! This version is killing me! There is FAR to much emoting for a Jane Austen era story! The behavior of almost every character borders on impropriety! It changes the entire flavor of the story.
@lonanuniel412 no i was saying that shes jealous of jane because for awhile it seemed that jane and mr. knightly had a thing lol jane and frank played their parts well, a bit too well actually
Thank God, this is helping me recover from, Tess of Durbervilles. That traumatized me in how depressing it was, when usually victorian movies from this period are so happy and pleasant for the most part.
Wow...I'm en captivated. I always liked the 90's version...but to add variety and a new extended take on the story was a great idea!! I will watch this version over and over ...I can tell.
I do too, perhaps because he stands up to emma all the time instead of mooning over her like the usual romantic interest. It's far more entertaining. Nice to have a hero with backbone and a personality.
because the heros in romantic novels are often created to exist around the heroine and adore her, it can get a bit old after a while (let alone unrealistic.)
I love this version of Emma. The actress and actors are perfect! What years is this production from?

Looking back, Frank did a terrible job of hiding his secret. I kind of expected him to not really love Emma.

Frank Churchill has an agenda. His manners are way too phony. It's like he tries too hard, you know?

At 1:05 and other scenes, the lawns are so well manicured and trimmed. Would they really have had the mowers to do that back then?

Emma isn't jealous of Jane, since she has no idea that anything is going on between Frank and Jane.
