  • I love this version of Emma. The actress and actors are perfect! What years is this production from?

  • frank is gonna make emma like him while he likes jane and knightley why would u like jane

  • frank and emma look so cute together

  • NO knightley u shouldnt like jane

  • Looking back, Frank did a terrible job of hiding his secret. I kind of expected him to not really love Emma.

  • how many people does mrs bates think she can receive in that little room?

it is funny flirting until couple are actually settled... "how does it feel to be in love?"

I love mr. knightley, the kind of man never seems lost or hesitating "he will be indiferent to my indiference".... I wonder what kind of man have jane austen married?...

  • @TheLuckyBlackswan Jane Austen never married, but she was settled to make her female protagonists with perfect men models

  • @TheLuckyBlackswan she never married but she was in love with a guy like darcy not as rich as him but almost had his personality not as sweet as darcy tho u must watch becoming jane its a wonderful flim abt her and the guy she was in love with

  • sheiser spoilers...i should reallly stop reading the comments before watching.....

  • Jane and Mr. Knightly together NO!! Why? Cause hes already in love!! Who? You may ask; hm....OH yes also Jane is love too. And Emma is JEALOUS!! Frank and Emma DO look good together; but i don't like his mouth!! If u don't know how it feels to be in love; then u probably NOT!!

  • I love Jane! She is a really cute person even if she doesn't have a lot to say.

  • I truly enjoy all the classics BBC put out. Also, they always cast such pretty & handsome actors! Love My Churchill & Mr Knightley. And I am in AWE of Emma's flawless face. Great script too! =)

  • Frank Churchill has an agenda. His manners are way too phony. It's like he tries too hard, you know?

  • I really love all the costumes in this version!

The dresses are all so beautiful...

  • "You must wrap up warm, Emma, in case some of the young dancers do something remarkably reprehensible, like opening a window." Aw, he's just too cute! :D

  • i'll apoligize for the person who accidentily clicked the dislike button. They didn't mean it - their hand slipped.

  • I don't understand why Mr. Churchill would talk so badly about Jane Fairfax when he's engaged to her. Is he really trying that hard to avoid suspicion?!

  • wow jane is so much more cheery in this version :)

  • I feel bad for Miss Bates =( Poor lonely lady

  • Great sets and costumes. This is as wonderful interpretation as is the one with GP and with KB.They all add a slightly diffferent flavor. I like the continuing thread in this one which highlights Emma's lack of travel ( and her father's fear of travel) outside High Berry ( sp?) as opposed to Frank, Jane and Mrs. Elton, Mr Knightly and Emma's sister. The end where Emma sees the sea for the first time is perfect for this version.

  • My sisters and I love this Emma!

  • hahaha mr knightley's sleeping face

  • someones finger slipped and hit the dislike button! :)

  • haha that akward moment when the shy person talks. lol

  • I think its just something about back then that makes men automatically more attractive. Possibly something to do with their dresscode and their manners.

  • @gotGodandHislove And, of course, their accents don't hurt. :D

  • LOVE the scene at the end when Emma thinks Churchill is about to propose

  • At 1:05 and other scenes, the lawns are so well manicured and trimmed. Would they really have had the mowers to do that back then?

  • @jenwic2 They would have sheep grazing the lawn.

  • Something remarkably reprehensible like opening a window. Love it! I wish my world view was so innocent.

  • how does jane tolerate frank's behavior towards her and his obvious courting with emma..?

  • you know miss bates has her uses...

  • the fact that shes so unsure really does just prove the point that she isnt in love with churchill, youd think shed realize that

  • in my opinion...Emma's house is much prettier than Knightly's...His looks so imposing and cold on the outside...

  • @amichellef93 Yeah, Knightley's house is pretty ugly. They should have picked another.

  • @amichellef93 it longs for a lady's touch. haha

  • 8:16 those are some sexy side burns :)

  • is emma's Father the guy who plays Dumbledore in Harry Potter?

  • @chatqueen31087 Indeed it is!

  • haha!! i knew that it was going to be Mr Knightley walking just because of the cello playing!! so beautiful!!!

  • love this emma its much better than the 1996 verison

  • Ahh...Mr. Knightley and his walks :-)

  • Mr. Knightly is soooo cute at 7:12 ...i really like this version....

  • I love Mr. Knightly's "ooo ~~" with sarcasm

  • I really feel for Mr. Knightley

  • well, if you ask me Mr. Knightley seemed to like Ms. Fairfax, or is that to just confuse the viewer... or was he just being nice....

  • Of course Mr Knightley liked Miss Fairfax, why wouldn't he? It doesn't mean there is any romantic interest

  • @jonwiley

But I view "like" as romantic. I didnt mean as a person. i meant as a boy/girl relationship.. but i havent seen this in so long, and i havent read the book.

  • Lovin the blue ribbon

  • i've never read the book yet. I do think it does show far too much flaunt of emotion. I am pretty sure Emma will end up with Mr. Knightly. I do like Frank though; he seems really sweet. Ok forgive me but I loathed Mr. Elton, but I thought he was reasonably handsome. This love square thingy reminds me of a midsummer night's dream.

  • love triangle. emma likes frank who likes jane who likes him while knightly is jealous of frank while emma is jealous of jane!

  • Emma isn't jealous of Jane, since she has no idea that anything is going on between Frank and Jane.

  • @lonanuniel412 no i was saying that shes jealous of jane because for awhile it seemed that jane and mr. knightly had a thing lol jane and frank played their parts well, a bit too well actually

  • man the guys in this are friggin' hot.

  • I love the music that they play into this Emma :)

  • Thank God, this is helping me recover from, Tess of Durbervilles. That traumatized me in how depressing it was, when usually victorian movies from this period are so happy and pleasant for the most part.

  • I admire Michael Gambon for not cracking up having to say lines like these...

  • Wow...I'm en captivated. I always liked the 90's version...but to add variety and a new extended take on the story was a great idea!! I will watch this version over and over ...I can tell.

  • Wow, that Frank Churchill fella' reminds me of Heath Ledger a little bit

  • Bravo....BBC has done it again!

  • @sandymorgan7 : i really much prefer this Emma to Gwyneth Paltrow's version.

This Emma is far more superior, warm and goofy yet still charmingly upper class! ;)

  • thank you so much for making this available! So fun.

  • I enjoyed this version so much. Thank you for uploading the video.

  • Her yellow dress is so pretty!

  • 7:10 haha LOL!!! XD Oooh...

  • haha mmm :)

  • I had to watch it again and again- I love Mr. Knightley. :D

  • @iosonoemilia

I do too, perhaps because he stands up to emma all the time instead of mooning over her like the usual romantic interest. It's far more entertaining. Nice to have a hero with backbone and a personality.

  • @iosonoemilia

because the heros in romantic novels are often created to exist around the heroine and adore her, it can get a bit old after a while (let alone unrealistic.)

  • @iosonoemilia i know I love this version much better actors and actresses.

  • @iosonoemilia He also plays Edmund in the 1999 (I believe) Mansfield Park. :)

  • thank you

  • A thousand thanks for posting this!
