All I can say is: THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!! This is an outstanding performance relatively "early" in Peerce's career (though he is 31 years old). Shows lots of study and lots of musicality - and yes, his Italian IS idiomatic. I only wish that there were a second verse to go with the first - but that's radio......

One of the Best non Italian tenor renditions of this song! Also Josef Schmidt made a wonderful recording of it, another non Italian. Of course we have Gigli and Di Stefano but they had the advantage of the language . Peerce had feeling and a great voice here. (Toscanini used to tell him when he told him he was not Italian at all ) " Peerce somebody must have passed through Italy" wa swhat the old maestro said!
