I own a '51 and I love it I got a steal on mine I piad $150 for mine and it came with a SKB hard sheel case. it is a good conversation piece when you play out somewhere too
hmm. well as for my peavey artist 240 , I really don't like the speaker too much. it's more like a bass speaker but it's ok if you're into like jazz or something like that. I rather have the sound like voivod/ denis d'amour's amp. I think he used to use marshall with celestions? not sure?? the peavey artist 240 tube "break up" is nice. it's like distortion that isn't irritating and cheap.
It has a new neck, kent Armstrong pickups, locking tuners, a gfs bridge, graphtech nut, painted pickguard, and a coil split on the bridge humbucker. I also installed schaller strap-locks.
Its light, plays awesome and holds its tuning for days no matter how hard I play it.
what mods were done to it I have the same guitar just un modified. I love the neck on these guitars. no wonder they discontinued them because they are so versatile thanks man mike

Thanks for the compliment! What I did was take off the pickguard, scuff it with coarse sandpaper, then apply a coat of automotive primer, then 8 light coats of the blue. No clearcoat though. I will probably strip it and repaint it royal blue next month until I finish building my custom pickguard.
I love those old Peavey amps.
