  • When I was in the Everglades on a holiday I saw a jet black snake on Tamiami trail... what type of snake could it of been?

  • @LilFilly88 Prob a southern black racer they are the most common snake seen in florida.

  • Awesome Vid My Favorite Snake.. i recently caught one on loop road big cypress

  • This snake is the common Yellow Rat snake not the Everglades variant, the Everglades Rat snake has a Red iris and a Red tongue and has a distinctly Orangish coloration. In this video you can see clearly a black tongue which Everglades do not have.

  • @swampman4 I agree it looks like a yellow rat snake. I see the 1 line on his back and 1 on each side of him. Looks like a yellow rat to me.

  • i have one of those as a pet. same size about. 4 feet or so. just as jumpy.

  • yea I have a Californian king snake

Thinking of getting one of these babies thought :P

  • cool!!! rat snake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol "eyy Stop that"

  • do they bite??

  • Looks like a yellow striped rat snake.loverly snake anyway.check out my everglades crossed with a corn snake

  • don't get up in his face. he won't be biting your camera. jeez. snakes are somewhat like people, even though they taste like chicken. interesting vid. never heard of the everglades ratsnake before i watched this. i'm used to bullsnakes and prairie rattlers.

  • Nice video! It's great to see someone appreciate a wild snake, and then let it be. Whenever I see a snake or turtle on the road, I stop and shoo them off.

  • to cool

  • LOL a "true" everglades, would it suprise you to know many ratsnakes interbreed, yellows and blacks...ect lol!

and it isnt trying to MIMIC another snake my freind, its a shared defense trait, such as them vibrating their tails... thank you v much for sharing this video :)

  • beautiful snake! Thanks for sharing your encounter!

  • too bad finding a true everglades ratsnake these days is like finding the skunk ape....

  • hes like steve irwin

he stops in the middle of the road,

    looks at animals

and says theyre beautiful I LOVE YOU

  • I don't like snakes, but I like anybody who respects and helps all of God's creatures and tries to protect them, and preserve the land.

  • yes I agree, beautiful!

  • ur too good man i watch all of ur vids, ur so interesting

  • snakes are awsome

    and so are u

  • Its a real good thing Max wasn't there I would hate for him to have gotten hurt

  • Not a true Everglades ratsnake unfortunately, the genuine article has a red tongue and eyes and a deep orange color, sadly the original version interbreeds with the yellow rat snake you see here

  • Right. Thanks.

  • Too cool! I love snakes!
