Mercman2 your slightly out of date the blood service are allowed to go through red lights and are allowed to the right of a keep left sign on a blue light!!!!
remember no emergency vehicle has exceptions laid down in law,if they have an accident ie going through a red light, to the right of a road sign, theyn they are not protected by any road traffic law, there is no law enshrined in english law that exempts emergency vehicles from normal road traffic regulations,.There should be a law, that says that emergency vehicles can viloate road traffic law,and it should also be made illegal to not pull over to allow an emergency vehicle to pass
odd, its a blood vehicle, so has no exemptions from road traffic law. it is allowed blue lights to show urgency an to allow it to pass through traffic but it is not allowed to exceed speed limit, go to the right of a keep left sign or treat a red light as a give way. The only vehicles that have exemptions in emergencys is police, fire and ambulance. yet not even ambulance are allowed to use exemptions when takin urgent blood or organs.
@MERCMAN2 in very urgent cases and this is vary rare & as long as it's agreed between the hospital & blood service they are given temporary exemptions.
Any vehicle, intended and used for live saving purposes and consists of Emergency Lighting and Emergency Audio, in aid of urgency has the prescribed lawful right to be exempt from Standard road traffic laws.
Meaning it is allowed to pass red lights, it is allowed to travel 50mph Over the prescribed speed limit, pass on keep right signs.
This Legislation is for all emergency vehicles. Ambulances, Fire Tenders, Police Cars, Give Blood Vehicles, Organ Vehicles ect.
Are these Whelan Woodway Sirens by any chance?

It's not driver training. There will be a transplant coordinator travelling with any organ on its way to a recipient. Chaz
