I was lucky to be on Ed's boat when she graced his side scan sonar and the third diver to lay eyes on her. On that dive I identified her and discovered her fully stocked lantern room. Sad to see the mostly empty lantern room but unfortunately I'm not surprised. The vis is amazing. Back then, pre-zebra mussels, we typically had 5-15 feet visibility. She is still one of my all time favorite wrecks and I hope to visit her again.
If you go back in a year will the capstan cover still be there??I wonder sincerely how the technical dive wrecks fair in michigan waters with the dive thieves,I beleive the camera toting divers are too busy filming to strip the ships.
I love watching videos of old ship wrecks lots to be learned,,all over the world in every body of water are ship wrecks waiting to be discovered,,,some laws will not permitt diving on some wreck sights
the visibility truly is awesome. (i am used to diving in a visibility of <1meter to 2 meters (2 to 6 feet) with some dives more. but this is yust awesome! love 2 go there some day
ahh yes cold water diving, you have to love it. I live in Wisconsin so I know what you are talking about. Some of the best divers out there originate from cold water in my opinion, we deal with the shitty conditions and keep diving.
exactly the reason i keep diving in shitty conditions. great for practice. and there are none better dive sites around here. (holland) well sometimes 8meters visibility, and in some places if you get lucky about 15meters. but most of the time it's jost cold dark water. but still i like it ;)
We did the windiate on the same day... the disc was scratched so it is going to take a lot of time to get it to production... easier to dive it again.

The wooden steamer (271'x40'x15') built at Buffalo in 1889. Sank in 210 feet after she was struck by the steamer George W. Roby on May 20th 1897

No matter what transpires with us on the surface, that old wreck will still be there much as it is today for a long, long time.

Nice to see a wreck that hasn't been stripped of every artifact. Great video.

Excellent video! That wreck is a little too deep and cold for me, so thanks for taking me there.
