Nicely configured Fedora. I use Debian the father of Ubuntu I think they release Ubuntu to guickly I installed Ubuntu 11 natty for one I reinstalled Debian immediately Still can not compare with sucky windows.

I used Ubuntu 10.04 and I absoutloutly loved it! One day I decided to upgrade to Ubuntu 10.10. Once everything was done installing... I rebooted and found a "no boot volume found" error. Now I use Kubuntu 10.04, it's a bit harder to use. But has an extremely polished and beautiful look. I hope to one day use Fedora (which I will). Linux is amazing and everyone should learn how to use it :D
I cant ever seem to get happy with fedora or suse. My two least fav linux distros and odly enough i love red hat for servers very odd but oh well such is life.
I love this video of Linux ! I recently purchased a laptop pre installed with Puppy Linux4.2 and this is one of the best demo 's I have seen on it thus far! I love the special effects and hope that Puppy Linux 4.2 has same or similar features. I still have Windows Professional 2000 on my desktop so if I need to use that I can but I'm excited about using Linux on my laptop and learning everything hands on! Thanks for posting this video!
Holy shit 719 win 2000 wow that was garbage in 2000 and now its just complete shit lol. I would say put linux on the desktop and put some life into that old girl. If you need help let me know ill walk ya through.
hey, i just wanted you to know, that i was about to install my every day choice of ubuntu. but when saw your rendition of fedora it made me want to have a look over at their site. then new fedora 9 looks fantastic. not only that, they had the torrent links i needed right in my face. Kudos for linux man. kudos. its come a long way.
Also: I think both fedora and ubuntu are great. I have ubuntu installed on my laptop and generally think it is great at multimedia codecs etc... If you do go with fedora, check out: fedora tips and tricks site by gagme and make an account at fedoraforum
one of the biggest reasons that i was going to install ubuntu is because it has such a large user base. the community is friendly and they also had a program called automatix for it at one time that took care of all the codecs for me. I havent looked at available rpms but i assume there is a restricted-extras package for fedora. No?
The equivalent for fedora is to install the livna package repository. I sent you a private message with a link to instructions on installing multimedia stuff in fedora.
@jdeslip It'd be sooo much easier to just install VLC Media player - Plays everything, But if your looking for playlist organization it;d be banshee to go to...
You wouldn't need to dual boot. You would only need to boot into one of them and then install the other in a virtual machine (check out VirtualBox which is free). That will do what you want.
I have just one question, can I dual boot ubuntu and fedora, and use VMWare, or similar, to have ubuntu on one virtual desktop, and fedora on another?
Well it seems thet when you learn how to, it gets much easier. Like FireFox, before using it, i thought the plugin stuff was complicated, then i realised how easy it was. I heard you can type things like: "yum install audacity" and things run smooth.
I'm willing to learn what i have to, so i'll dual boot XP+Fedora 9 soon.
I told someone about linux, and burnt them a ubuntu LiveCD so they could try it but apparently their CD tray was incompatible with ubuntu so after it compiled the kernel it just showed thousands of erorrs, it was kinda funny.
I think both are great. I happen to use Fedora more just because I have always used it and am the most familiar with it. However, I have also used ubuntu and think some of their usability improvements are great. At the end of the day, though, they basically have the same features. I think both distros require you to have a couple partitions (swap and / at least) and do it automatically in the install.
are you using beryl + where did you get it from ive recently upgraded to fedora 8 from 3 and now im able to use it im not sure where to get it? + im on a multi-boot!
Sorry, I am not using beryl, but I am using compiz. I believe there is source on the support site already pack as rpm. So it should be easy. Or you may find it under your software management. I am not sure how it will work out under muti-boot. But if enable the beryl will sure has a chance slow down your machine a little bit. Enjoy!
lol thanks ive just configured my software raid 0- now i have a headache now its sabayon, fedora 8, windows 98-for those classic games! and xp pro - i just hope this is going to work?!?!?!
I think all three have stolen features from the others - which is a good thing I think. Apples' "spaces" has been on linux for years for example. Anywho, glad to hear :)
I used Gimp to edit the screenshot; mythtv to play live television (and also to record like a Tivo); pidgin for AIM/MSMessenger; Amarok for music and song lyrics; deskbar-applet to search inside files/folders/emails; GSPCA for my webcam and record video (aMSN allows you to do video chat); Crossover Office to run windows programs such as microsoft word; and Cedega to run just the game Oblivion.
I have actually never used vista in vmware (XP in the video). I hear it performs well, though.

I have some higher slightly res versions (still comprised) but there is no music unfortunately.
