Big thanks for uploading this dude, I read about this DVD a while back but couldn't find it. Scott has one of the tightest picking attacks in thrash, Anthrax still kicks ass. Anyone who bitches about them I wanna see you play N.F.L., Gridlock, Caught In A Mosh, and Indians up to tempo.
This guy is just badass. Not only is he a great fucking metal monger, but a hell of a good guy all around. Most guys in his position can be a little on the cunty side, or full of shit, or full of themselves. Not Scott. He is the kind of guy who you want to have a beer with. Down to earth and funny. I'd love to hang out and jam with him for a while. Long Live Anthrax!
I was just going to spend five minutes here and see what was going on and I ended up watching the whole thing. I don't like Anthrax very much but I love Scott Ian and S.O.D.
I am not big into metal. More of a "Rocker". But this is really a very good "street smart" Video. Scott did a fine job here in relating to "Natural Ability". He is self taught, learned by ear, and found a natural style.Learning songs, & realizing later you were doing a riff wrong ? IS a good thing in the long run. You tend to say "hey, that wasn't right but it's interesting ?" "Being You" is what matters.
If you learn by a book ? You will sound like a book. Take what you learn & Break it up !
Fucking great interview. Scott may not be a "shredder", like Vai or Satch, but you know what? WGAFF. You can tell he has the love, the passion and the "it" factor that makes an awesome heavy metal guitarist. Just listen to him talk. He gets it. Anthrax kicks it.
Amen brother. Like Malcolm Young, or James Hetfield, rhythm makes the song. My drummer always says that a song is like a cake. The drums. bass & rhythm is the cake itself, lead guitar, keyboards and vocals are like the icing. Who wants to eat just icing? You can eat cake without icing, but it would get dull after a while. So the two need each other. Another great rhythm guitarist is Alex Lifeson. Very underrated.
@tylerisagirl1 No, because I chose to buy a Marshall as a beginner and liked it. I haven't tried Randall amps but I'm sure they fit if they have the sound I'm looking for. But like I said: A bad troll is a bad troll. And you truly are one.
That's right you are a beginner - Troll is such a cliche term- think for yourself and come up with something original - Funny thing is you're calling me a troll and you are from Finland. Finnish people are ugly motherfuckers. Go buy a real amp u Finnish faggot
I love Scott! He tells it like it is. @29:27 "PRESENCE? I really don't even know what presence is, besides a Led Zeppelin record." lmao!! I love his honesty. No bullshit. Been a fan from the beginning.
If the master said: "It's all about practice and commitment", then that's what i'm gonna do 'til the rest of my life. By the way, thanks for this upload man... this guy is my major influence!
Very cool upload - Thanks! Even after watching this video, with all due respect to Scott, his 1987 Jackson/Marshall rig with TC Booster was his best sound ever recorded imho. 'Among the Living', 'State of Euphoria' and 'Stomp 442' had the most intense guitar sounds of ANY Anthrax records. Randall gear is great stuff but to this day I've yet to hear a metal guitar sound like Scott back in the 1987 days with the exception of '442'. The reason I don't play guitar is because you do. Cheers!
I wonder if he polishes his head? its so shinny
