The film was credited as Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. Clint was quite happy to get paid a large lump (on top of his fee) to be second on the bill behind Burton. However, in the book (equally awesome as the film!) the same as the film, Schaffer, Eastwood's character, was always the secondary lead role and therefore his credit was in it's appropriate place - no wonder he didn't mind getting paid a large lump for being credited where he should have been anyway!!!!

During a variety show, following a god-awful western music band, this theme was our opening score which we, a 9 piece band (brass and percussion) duplicated exactly and performed to a standing ovation reception...at which time we promptly exited the stage...and received rave reviews in the local press the next day...we didn't even have to play another song.

Great theme score. Love the build up and crescendo...great synthesis of score to movie and great entertaining movie to boot! Richard Burton Clint Eastwood etc...

Mainly engish actors, Clint was parachuted in to ensure it sold in the US! Like a lot of 60's/70's war films... Good film none the less.
