Most of the good club runners stay well clear of this over priced charity race, The "elite runners" get paid for running a few club give it a go! but the rest are just joggers or walkers you don't need to train much to waddle round in 5 hours anybody can shuffle round i took part in 1985 and got round in 2hrs 55mins. Most of the good club runners support other town/city races that Don't have these "Greedy" charity's involved who have no idea how to stage a road races.
Hmmm... it isnt staged by the charities you retrard. it's staged by London Marathon Ltd a company of the best event organisers in the World, the format is taken from Boston marathon, the biggest in the world.
As for the runners, the others are normal people who tackle something out of the ordinary for those less able than themselves, it's called charity. How quick do you think you could do it in now? 2hrs 55 20 years ago, i bet you couldn't do it in under 5 hours these days.

It is astounding that people make poor comments about such a GREAT event makes money and gives comfort to so many sick and underprivaged people.
The endurance and training and dedication these runners go through is unbelievable for their charities.
Keep up the good work people.
YOUR EVERYONE A WINNER!
