How is this a “cute” sermon? This Bishop was one powerful preacher. You stated "give us a message from God, not you" what is your criteria that says this is not a message from God. In fact, if you were actually listening, his message had a strong Christological focus. We need more of this in this day and age. And, "if it's sad to still have this type of church" what type of church should we be having?
How was he not "feeding their spirits and not their flesh?" Sermons don't have to be "repented from" One who is uninformed of the purpose of proclamation and not theologically educated would only make such a statement. One must have a sermon in order to communicate effectively the word of God. I would suspect that you're equating homiletics to not having the Holy Ghost. Our hearts and minds must be fed in preaching, or rather the cognitive and the emotive.
Good preaching speaks to the "head" and the "heart" and not necessarily to the impersonal dichotomy of the "Spirit and Flesh" as you mention because believers are persons in relationship with a God in which resides three persons, the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. I suspect your "theology" is metaphysical which focuses on the "whatness" of God in terms of matter and substance rather than being ontological focusing on the "whoness" and personhood of God.

GIVE US A MESSAGE FROM GOD, NOT YOU!
FEED OUR SPIRITS NOT OUR FLESH.
It's sad to still have this type of church. REPENT FROM YOUR SERMONS & GET A MESSAGE FROM GOD IF YOUR CALLED.
