  • american clasical orchestra CRAP! german is better!

  • Ok, written tempo is quarter note = 180-184...so, yes, like @frenchhornlvr says, you're supposed to take it AT tempo (our band director had a similar story)...but not ABOVE tempo like @powerrangerstrumpet said. (I have the xylophone part...it would be near impossible at 210+)

Either way...this band does a pretty fantastic job playing this piece. :)

  • It is supposed to be that fast. One of my band's guest conductors knew Maslanka, and Maslanka said either play it at the right tempo or don't play it all, even if you miss some notes.

  • That hall really just swallows your sound. You've got to really think about your articulations if you're performing in a concert hall like that.

  • love this piece! I played it with the Texas All-State Band last year - t'was sooo much fun.

  • awesome! we're playing this.

  • damn...pwnage on the xylophone...

  • haha yeah dude i have that xylophone part, playing it at our concert on thursday

  • yup i had the marimba part and i thought that was crazy, then i saw that xylophone music and was instantly humbled. Props for pullin it off man.

  • great piece lucky for you, you play it at around 170...we take it at 210+.

  • @powerrangerstrumpet bullshit

  • @powerrangerstrumpet it's not supposed to be that fast. An instructor that we had come work with us had Maslanka flown in to work with them and he never said to take it that fast.

  • yes!

im such a nerd, because this really makes me want to party.

  • thank you♥
