Also, I have not seen Xu Xin's latest matches, Its been a while since I watched him. Maybe he is getting the reverse penhold backhand going better now, I don't know. That would be great, I hope he does.
@skstv2010 Are you blind? Wang Hao doesn't have to cover huge amounts of space awkwardly from a bad position because of backhand weakness no where near the extent that Xin does, if at all. I've seen Xin kill himself trying to get a forehand in from a bad position over and over. I guarantee you he won't last as long as Wang Hau has if Xin keeps playing like that.
Xu Xin has to work too hard because he is trying to use his forehand all the time. That type of play will not last. He will be injured. He needs to get his back hand to be better. Then he will be ok.
I don't really understand, why Olympia is so important for them, yeah it's a big tournament, but the german open, the world championsships, the china open where better represented, because there aren't just 2 mens or womans, who are aloud to play! But it is one of the best video's of this great tournament! Thank you for uploading this !!! :D:D
God dammit! Everytime I watch a sport in which i should be 100% neutral i end up somehow supporting one of the other and then they go and lose. Everytime!! :P
at this point, timo was still making his fine adjustments ot the game without speed glue. Noticably, timo was a much faster, looping player in his youth. For a while we saw him revert to a more "hit block" type style. however, against the speed of the chinese, this would not work. This is the first match where i saw him go head to head with a chinese star in a looping battle and give a legit match. We are seeing the beginning of a new timo who is again ready to do battle with the chinese
The Chinese players have extended Psychological edge in close matches. They show it again and again. Impressive to say atleast. I really wonder how they can be som tuff mentally
What makes a Table Tennis Player Great? I don't know but, from what I have seen this was probably one of Xu Xin's no so excellent perfomances (although he came back to win the match). Xu Xin seemed really slow and normally he has lightning fast feet.
On the other hand... Tima Boll played really agressive. Congrats to them both
@mcdirth03 Yeah, could be, but in the match, as a tt player, he would not discuss about a point in his advantage. He says it if the point is given wrong, even when it's not in his advandtage.
About the accident in the 2009 wttc final in the first set, I don't think it was a double bounce, but just hitted Hao's finger.
if you pause the video in full screen on the INSTANT (yes there is a frame like that) you can see that the ball hits right where Xu's thumb and pointer finger meet, which is right where he points to, and I think he asks Timo whose point it was based on where he contacted it. Where he points on his paddle right after that point is completely accurate though. Also I agree with blkhwk, one point shouldn't matter, and there are plenty of net points which are harder to return than an off the hand bal
I agree in the fact that fair play is one of the most important things in table tennis, but I must say, 1 point in 1 set when you're leading the match is no excuse for losing. He might have lost the next point, but there is no reason to keep thinking on that the rest of the game.
Again in this match, Xu Xin demonstrates the most important athletic ability which makes a difference between a superstar and the others. It is the Talent to Comeback from Behind… the ability not to blow up when he was almost losing the match at 4 :1 at one point in the match, when things looked pretty bleak. He didn’t give up, didn’t fold, or didn’t get frustrated. He focused on the game. And win it he did! Son of a gun! ☆☆☆☆☆
@ChenWeixing92 Rosskopf also says that it is important as a table tennis player to be able to leave the table in the end with a pure conscience and that xu xin wasnt able to do it today.
@ChenWeixing92 in the rules it says that you can play the ball with your hand. If it touches your hand and the paddle then its not allowed, but nobody will know except for xu xin if the ball did hit twice or not. But its normal that a player should give this point to his oponent but if you are losing, you never know what you would do.
@kaikaz Its actually accepted that the ball hit twice now, as long as it is in one movement. Its though not approved that the ball hit the shirt and then the rackert.
ok I'm pausing this video at the 2:00 mark to say... FUCK YEAH!! GO TIMO!!! you got this!! amazing he's the only one who can loop with the chinese... I'll finish this comment after I watch the rest

Damn, timo had match point and 8-5 lead at 3-1!
About that fair play, it was a double touch I think, if Timo says it, it's 99% of the time right.
Xu is not yet a gentle man like Boll, Samsonov, Liqin, and Wang Hao.

@MrRothhaendle
Can u actually see that on the video? For me it's too fast. Or the resolution is too bad?
salseroberlinense 1 year ago
@salseroberlinense on the video u can guess it
but on ittv they had a slow-motion of this situation and u can clearly see it
(xu would do these gestures if he'd be unguilty, though)
jörg rosskopf and boll complained about xu's fairplay in a interview on tischtennis.de (too bad it's not in englisch). and i totally agree with timo!
MrRothhaendle 1 year ago
@MrRothhaendle
The ittv slow motion is not online, is it?
salseroberlinense 1 year ago
@salseroberlinense i can't find the slow-mo in the vod
maybe it was a feature in the live-broadcast
MrRothhaendle 1 year ago
@MrRothhaendle in the interview timo said that he dominated the game and could have won the game with 4:1 perhavs even 4:0.
Furthermore he says that in the end xu xin played a little bit better but he betrayed timo at one point,when he didnt call that double touch.
He also say that it was a good match but to loose it that way is bitter.
Rosskopf just mentions that timo is a 100 percent fair player,so in his opinion it is sad that there are athletes who arent interested in fair play.

@kaikaz I think now they did change the rule for dopple-hitting the ball. So it's okay to touch the ball twice if it is not volitional.

xu didnt deserve to win
boll dominated the game and could win it 4:0 / 4:1
