  • did you get to the secret level with the castle wolfenstine security guards as customers?

  • That's cool, 1984 digitised voice output. I find this a bit more convincing than in 1981's Castle Wolfenstein, because here you can actually understand what they're saying =)

  • I remember typing that very thing into that very screen. I miss my C64, I'd love to have one again. Talk about your classic gaming system.

  • I'd love to get into a real life taxi and say "Up please" in that voice and just see what the taxi driver says.

  • Glatzer and Koerkemeier are badass!

  • @WUTZELFUTZEL Do those names mean something? I've always wondered...

  • Although it doesn't quite look it here (or now), but this was a pretty cool game growing up back in the day!

  • Oh man such memories playing (at least trying to) on a commodore 64 at the age of 6

  • dude i can see the fraps numbers behind the emulator

  • @MSteniente77 ZOMG

  • HEYY TAXI!!! Ah yes...

  • XD An emulator running a pirated game...

  • Oldie goldie!

  • WOW, played this so much as a kid,. thanks for posting, brings back many memories.

  • Hey, I just noticed this video was embedded on ToplessRobot. I'm an internet celebrity!

  • Wow !!!!!!!!!!

  • I purchased Rescue Squad is that any good?

  • @dogcatmouse23 It gets boring after awhile...It isnt a bad game....just repetitive. You can beat the game in about 15 minutes...then you go onto a higher level of difficulty on the same 3 game screens...and then you beat the game again...etc;

The only thing that Space Taxi is missing is the "game over" music from Rescue Squad as a lot of the music from Space Taxi is carried over from Rescue Squad (RIP Silas Warner).

  • Oh man, I haven't though about this game in YEARS!

  • you almost killed your first passenger lol

I think this is one of the games that used S.A.M., and you could use a hex editor to mod the speech text and the passengers would say it.

This game ate about 200 hours of my life, not counting modding it

  • High High High the tay

Space Taxi to the Sky! *clap* *clap*

    Song from Stefan Raab xD

  • I must agree that this is one of the best games ever!

  • It's been YEARS since I've seen this screen! I almost forgot all about it! Thanks for posting!

  • Ahhh many a night was spent playing this hearing "Hey Taxi"...It meant I was late for schooll more times than care to remember!...Clasiic 80's memories

  • and all that time, i thought Crazy taxi was a orginal game, but all that time, there allready whas a taxi game allready :-D. but to be honest, i knew about this game allready, it was verry fun at that time. and for it's time, it really felt smooth. i liked the way if you landed to hard, the cab shudders and falls down the screen :-). and the now infamous words "Hey, Taxi!" will always bring memories of this game :-D

thanks for sharing, and have a nice day.

  • man! even the old version of this game is cool....

I got 2 and I like it... and the old man is very annoying... "heyyy taxiii"

and giana sister, jumbach, ace of aces, and some other

  • Aw I was 14 and played this game all night long unril my dad took the power supply away.....LOL

  • Best game ever!

  • I loved this game too, if you want to play it on a modern device then go to itunes there is a similar game called cabby that has just been released by Hidden Games

  • CRACKED '84 BY HJD

  • I love this game...

  • also one of my favorite

  • This is one of the only games that my mom would play when I was a kid. A very good game to play when staying home from school sick.... lol.

  • I love this game. It's one of the alltime biggest classics.

  • Aw man this brings back some good memories of when i was a kid!

  • This is my favorite game. I loved playing this as a kid. I wish Nintendo would make it available for download on the Wii!

  • PAD 3 Please!

    EPIC! thanks for the up!

  • Oh!!! I have played a lot!!

  • Hey taxay!

  • I LOVED this game. I can't count the number of hours I spent playing. AWESOME!

  • lool kik ass game.. id play that for hours

  • Yah! Love this game played it ALL the time as a kid in the '80s on my c64. Never got to the secret level.

  • LOL. I love this game too. I have it for the amiga. Better sound & graphics of course... I forgot how crude the sound and graphics is on the c64. BTW I've owned c16, vic 20, 2 x c64, c128, 8 x amiga 500's , 1 x amiga 2000, 2 x amiga 1200, just to mention a few.

  • very funny ^.^

  • LOL mein commondore steht im dachboden ^^ aba benutz ihn heut noch gern :D

  • lol this game was awesome

  • i thought i was the only person in the world who rememberd this game

  • Hey, What software do you use to capture your screen movment into a video file?

I once tried some, but it was crap and unusebale.

    ** "Pad 3, please..." ;-)

  • Sorry if I didn't answer this before, but the software I used is called Fraps.

  • @rtmnmk ccs64 and fraps works good I just posted a Space Taxi Vid myself today

  • dude, awesome post. The memories.... priceless

  • Awesome video. I can only imagine the effort it took to get this posted. Great job. I wasted many many hours of my youth playing this game.

  • Well, thank you for the sentiment, but it wasn't very difficult to post. I just ran fraps and recorded the video as I played it through an emulator.

  • Excellent Game!

only 2 sprites and the rest is built by the chars of the keyboard.

    very nice ;)

i think i have to get my c64 from the attic

and play all my 600 disks until my eyes bleed ;)

  • Really great...

  • this crap is tite, i luvd this game one of my favs. got a commodore 128 from my gf's dad and later sold it to my friend... shoulda kept it... now i want it again

  • Up please! Had alot of fun with this one back in the day. Thanks for posting.

  • Brings back memories. Apparantly there is a modern day remake, but I have never seen it

  • there is Ugh! on amiga which is great and has some good music, it's set in a prehistoric setting with a kinda helicopter taxi

  • Yep. Played it. It's funny when you drop them in the water.

  • this game is sooo cool i have it ^^

  • I loved that game back then but now that I see it, I'm happy to be in 2008 and play Halo 3 online... Thanks for the memories... :)

  • That brings back memories. Back in the late '80s, I got that game from a friend, who copied it for me. One of my favorites! I still have, at least, one Commodore 64 as well as that game somewhere. Boy, I've been busy with stuff lately, besides my current job. I hope I'll get around to setting up my C-64 soon and see how it still works.

  • please, somebody invent a timemachine! i wanna go back to those days...

  • No need for a time machine, just grab your favorite emulator and have at it!

  • An emulator is broing. The orgin. hardware & time very very better ;)

  • @TALyeah

If he ran this on the original hardware, you'd get a low quality steadycam shot of an ancient TV with horrendous audio quality....

And it would take several minutes to load the game....

  • @discolando For me, it's that I want to go back to when a game like this was enough for people. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the sophisticated modern games, too, but it's the attitudes of the players that's become a problem. :( All they want is more, bigger, flashier, etc. They've forgotten how to enjoy the simpler things.

Now, excuse me, I have to go get my cane and chase those darn kids off my lawn again. ;)

  • @Lennyfred i still got my orginal commodore 64 :-D. and on sites where they sell second hand stuff, you may find them as well, as here in the netherlands (dutch) there are still plenty of them being sold second hand. and there is even a device where you can put your emulator roms on, and play them on a original commodore 64! me and my nephew have one of them :-D

  • @Lennyfred I hear that and I'm down too! Lol.

  • hail commodore 64

  • I loved this game so much!!

  • Forget about Crazy Taxi for the last 3 or so systems...SPACE TAXI was where it's at, and always will be forever.

    SPACE TAXI ROCKZ!!!^^

  • a really cool game! would love to see the secret level...

  • If you completed the 24 hour shift (random or not, iirc), you'd go into final level. Was it so called mystery screen? There, a nazi was marching, same sprite from Castle Wolfenstein. Great game.

  • Jeeez, I remember my first attempts at this wonderfull game ... always stressing to get up when they finally said up ... and crashing in the exit ^^ Aaah, wonderfull gaming memories.

  • WOW! Played this game like a mental patient when I was in my teens.

I notice you have the "cracked" version. Naughty, naughty. ;)

  • What's funny, as I look back on my childhood, 90% of the games I played on the C64 were cracked. Back then, I just assumed that's how they all were! :)

  • Dang, I had this game and it took a half hour to load. They don't make fun games like this anymore. I love how everyone sounds like they have tracheotomies.

  • Companies are now making remakes of those old classics such as Namco and Atari.

  • Yes - Space Taxi was one of my favorites back in those days. Man, I wish I still had my Commodore 64 - I'd love to fire up the ol' Space Taxi. In a lot of ways, these old games are a lot more fun than any of today's games, with today's graphics and sounds. You just can't beat the classics.

  • man i still have one of these but my fav game was called robotron and it broke

  • i didn't have games at all ưhen i was young, so i have no idea what this is.

  • "i didn't have games at all ưhen i was young, so i have no idea what this is."

What a very cruel and neglectful childhood you had. :-(

  • I feel like a little kid again, seeing the video clips of these old games. Space Taxi was one of my favorites.

  • Oh, wow. I miss this game so much!!

  • Dose anyone know where you can play thise old commador 64 games in flash?

  • I miss the days when games were DIFFERENT from one another. Sure there were a lot of clones, but when games didn't take 36 months to code there seemed to be more variety. At least the Internet gives Flash games and shareware an audience impossible in 1983.

  • Such nostalgia, it just amazes me how only 64k 20some years ago could make people happier than the MegaCPU's with astonishing graphics of today. Don't get me wrong, nowadays games are superb and incredibly realistic... but the feel will never be the same.

  • "HEY TAXI!" ... when I played this game it was the first time I heard speech on the Commodore 64 ... when I hear it now then the sound is weird but in that time it was absolutely phantastic!

  • Geiles Spiel

  • Twilight Games (twilightgames(dot)com) has a modern sequel to this!

  • I remember the first time I played this - I was about 6 and it absolutely blew my mind to hear speech on the C64! XD

  • classic.

  • amazing. i cant believe u crashed but

  • Well, I crashed on purpose, otherwise the video would have never ended... :)

  • ya like the black hole or reverse

  • There's a one-filed version of this game now. Done by Crest if I recall.

  • I remember some of the later levels being ridiculously hard.

  • Who the hell needed a Nintendo with this gaming goodness along with Rescue, Aztec Challenge, Raid on Bungling Bay, Jumpman, the list goes on and on!

  • "Pad 1 please!"

  • I don't have to remember it! After 23 years I can still load it up and draw the attention of my three adult boys. Pad four please!

  • HOLY ShITTT HAHAH "HAY TAXI"

    THAAAAAAAAAAAAAANX

  • Omg. I love you. That brings back such great memories.
