i saw them at the lyceum a few days before or after this gig, was only 15 really enjoyed it, but would have loved to have seen them a year in 79 before with the original line up :(
The sound is shite but I love it. It makes it sound ultra live and very early punkish. YEAH! Love Ants with Kevin Mooney and as always Adam and Marco RULE!!!
Am I babbling? Well in any case, Adam (Stuart) I respect you and everything you've done, even your mistakes. You've been a brilliant accent to my life and I don't say this as a fan I say it as a fellow being.. I love you
I suppose not as strange as my last weeks dreams of kitten heads with their arms and paws on the bodies of tarantulas or the sex I was having with Plecostomus( Salvador Dali, you got nothing on me, cept your fame, and you can have that)... The Idea made me wake up this morning thinking God in 3 persons Beloved Trinity!
Wow! Early March I went into rehab for alcohol. One night they gave me a sleeping drug, I think it was called Restoral. I had a dream that a giant spider with the face of my Maincoon cat was attacking me. I flew off the bed and cut my right leg on the hospital rail post. The impact ripped through my jeans and left a 2 inch gash in my leg.
This song was the entire background landscape music for every dream I had last night..Now I can admit, my x husband (who's name happens to be Adam) recently made me a copy of Dirk wears white sox ( yes,I have the album, but who could play records anymore:( )I love the Idea, But this was Bizarre
I see comments around saying how he sold out and blah blah blah. I liked it all, and wish his unreleased album woulda made it out. But I like all the stuff like this too. The guy's gotta change, he can't dress like a swashbuckler, or fetishist, for the rest of his life.
I've got some ANT stuff on my page too, check it out. I'm particularly fond of his Vive Le Rock days...
Adam has no idea how far this song has come in contemporary worship "I could be religious if the hymns sounded like this" "Holy holy are you Lord God Almighty"...
some churches actually have accepted the fact God can be praised by any style of music. He created it all.
They did a few other earlier songs as well as all the Kings stuff. Cartrouble, Kick, Physical, Zerox. Was a great gig pretty well one of the last gigs with the original following out in full force. Lots of seats at the front got turned into firewood. Shortly afterwards Adam blew it and sold his soul for a couple of chart topping hits. As usual the teeny boppers lost interest pretty quick and the original hard core following forgot about him as well...
"Strip" killed him, or at least it did with me. I bought that record right after it came out and thought it was rubbish. I never bought an Ant album since.
i can find cartrouble vid (original version) but not xerox or physical only want 70's footage, any ideas please? i missed the lewisham gig,i'll hold my dad responsible for the rest of my days .....

Shame about the bass being so low in the mix, cos the way Kevin played this song live (1980) was such a boost to an already sublime song!
