Zacuan, I'm a sculptor. About two years ago, I had hired several Crow Indians to pose in clothing that was historicaly correct for the late 1800's. I took pictures of a couple of woman, walking through the village, wearing their husbands headdresses and carrying thier shields and weapons. They were telling the stories of their husband's war achievements. I started a clay of one of the woman, but it never went any further that a start. You've inspired me to try the subject again. As a biologist I've had to take genetics, anthropology, anatomy, ecology, zoology, chemistry, psychology, microbiology just to name a few subjects. Mitochondrial DNA has NOT been found in sperm. I will concede you're only HALF right. You are NOT entirely correct. You obviously haven't studied human reproduction correctly or paid attention. A child isn't created until an egg has been fertilized by sperm that's true. However, if an egg isn't fertile sperm can't fertilize it. The combination of both is needed for children but the sperm is not the child. Neither is until both come together like an Epoxy and then it becomes something more than the 2 before it. In the case of male dominated societies like baboons, gorillas, and chimps to name a few, There is a hierarchy of dominance among the females of the troop and their young inherit their mother's status. The males mostly dominate other males and give a show of force to show- off that he is indeed the best choice to breed with compared to the other schmoes.

Lion societies are matriarchal & allow- yes allow- the male his position of power for the benefit of producing strong offspring that have a greater chance of survival. Elephants are matriarchal and I forgot to mention that horses are too and are lead by a lead mare. In the case of deer they're mostly independent until breeding season and then come together where the males go into rut. The males actually dominate one another to gain breeding rights to the females if they'll have him.

Brianbmf, the main problem with your argument is that it is completely opinionated lacking any kind of evidence, whereas jssitter gives plenty of facts to substantiate her claims. You just want men to be leaders even when they are not. Keep on saying to yourself "men are leaders and that's just the way it is" when in fact, history tells us otherwise. A history of men killing each other through wars and conquest is not proof that women are less than men.
