  • That sound real bad ass and look good!!!

  • Is that english town , nj?

  • Lol they havent even started to phase that motor out of the military yet... Get new ones all the time. Sounds awesome only wish they would let me turn up my HEMMT like that...

  • Music to my ears!!! I love it!!! We need more vids of this truck!!!

  • sounds like Flat-4.

  • My god I love LOVE eight cylinder diesel trucks!

  • What TruckShow was this at?

  • Great Sounding Jimmy!! Good Lookin Truck too:)

  • thats at the buck isnt it??? down in lancaster county pa...

  • yep a road oiler

  • oh my god, i think i need to go change my underwear.....so awesome

  • i love the sound of the detriot 8v92, lol. american v8s gotta love them.

  • man thats a nice truck hammer down

  • Oya get one turned up and there fun to drive

  • And?

  • Was this at "The Buck"?

  • Go Cummins

  • sounds just like my friends 2 stroke DETRIOT JIMMY

  • Just Beautiful!!!

  • who could go OTR with that kind of racket?

  • @mpwelk I will take it!!! Give it to me!!!

  • @mpwelk I ask the same question to these kids that run around in their fart piped rice burners while listening to their over bass'ed c/rap music...

  • @wildbill6976, well with this thing it will make there ricers sound bad and you sit high enough to throw a empty through their sunroof.

  • Most of the few Detroit Diesel, CAT, and Chrysler powered Shermans were given to the European allies as part of the lend lease act. Most of the Sherman tanks and Pershing tanks we used were powered by Continental radials or Ford GAAs. The Higgins Landing craft boats used on D-Day were powered by Gray diesels or Scott gassers and the Higgins PT boats were powered by 3 huge Packard gasser engines. I like Detroits as much as the next guy, but give credit only where it is due.

  • they may sound cool but they are nothing compared to a 444 cummins!

  • 2 of OUR Great American Icons..........Great video

  • is that 1 of those motors they had proplems with, cause my dad had a brand new 1979 kw,with some sort of v8 detroit i dont think they made them long, Kw had to put 3 motors in it before waranty was up on it,

  • MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE

  • fucken dope man

  • Detroit power...HAHAHA. sounds good but man them things are DOGS as is the 60 series Sweet pete tho.

  • i bought a 92 silver series belt buckle on ebay

  • Sweet, sweet bark, shame i'll probably never get to drive anything with one of these amazing motors...

I dont think theres a modern motor in production today that could match the rawness of this, although the good ol' CAT growl is pretty up there, and dare i say it, Scania's DC16 and older V8's :)

  • Im a Cummins man through and through, but I got a soft spot for the good ol' Detroits.

  • love it

  • It is truly sad, these ol detroit diesels have what some would consider a beautiful sound. sadly new trucks simply do not, and never again shall sound this beautiful.

  • Sounds like the king of the road to me!

  • New diesel engines suck balls untill you take off all the emisions bull shit and re program them.

  • anyone got a Video of the nice trainhorn that it has?

  • There are three great diesel engine manufacturers:

    1. Clatterpillar

    2. Cummapart

    3. Driptroit

    And I like them all!

  • @spencnaz You got the order backwards... Personally, I wouldn't even put cat up there.

  • To hell with emissions.. This is true power.....Bless

  • @djixtapu global warming is a big scam pluss have you seen how much DEF fluid costs? and the repairs for the new emission equipment FUCK THATTTT ill be rollin coal till i die brother and it sounds like you will be too

  • This is what ALL semi-trucks should sound like!

  • WERE CAN I GET A ENGINE TO LIKE SOUND LIKE THAT ????

  • @DetroitPower1979 so that's saying an 81 piece of crap Chevy pickup with glass packs is bad ass because its loud and runs like crap

  • Awesome

  • detroit diesel= porno for the ears!!!

  • @patwregan was that there trade mark having that sound

  • ay mamasita me vine el los calzones.............

  • One bad ass ole troit powered pete.

  • Nothing outlast a Cat! Detroits are pretty though but nothing on the durablity of cat. Cat introduced durability to the truck market back when 335 cumaparts were having to be rebuilt at 200,000 Cats could go over the 750,000 mark no questions asked. In the end Cat is the leader in all diesel aspects.

  • Also note how they don't build engines for the big rigs anymore.

  • @Markmeblablabla because of the money involved for emissions. the heavy truck engine market only made up 6 or 7 percent of cats profits so they gave it the ax. Just the government killing more jobs with dumb ass emissions. Its funny how gas engines put out way more but they don't do a damn thing to make them cleaner

  • @laramie4x4 Wrong, there are LEV, ULEV, SULEV and gas engines with barely any emissions at all. I'm not a fan of it either, but its for our health NOT just the environment. One new diesel engine today is cleaner than I believe its 30 or 40 diesels made in 1980 combined. Think of the next generations, technology is evolving fast, back pack cell phones, memory, fuel economy, safety. It's a new world gotta be open minded. Your kids not having asthma and lung cancer growing up, priceless.

  • @Markmeblablabla

    Emissions standards.

2-strokes are mean, but NOT clean.

  • cat motors should be left in earthmoving gear where they started

  • no way what?

  • Well they cant run with or pull with a Cat so thats why Cat is the superior truck engine. BTW its hard to beat the way a 1693 rattles!

  • Love the sound of that 2-stroke detroit. My first 3 drives of an 8-92 - 79 transtar 4800, 81 Bison, 81 kw dumptruck(s).

If you like 4-stroke v-8 sound, look up titles

    SCANIA ''SHOGUN'' V8 R620 SOUND

scania 143 open uitlaat (in cab driving)

    Nordic Trophy 2008 - Jönköping

    v8 scania

  • I've been wondering why they don't start bringing these engines back. You'd think that with as far as technology has come in the past 25 years that they would be able to re-design the old V6, V8, and V12 engines AND make them meet emissions stardards. I think that a MODERN V12 could be able to make AT LEAST 800-900 horse power and well over 2000lbft of torque. What a joy that would be!!! For now, we're just going to have to enjoy the classics!! AWESOME TRUCK!!!

  • sounds like the rig from maximum overdrive :) Very nice

  • thing that sounds so awesome about these v8's compared to my petrol v8 - the instant RAARGH! ness, and no matter what you do to that throttle once its done screaming.. it just beds back down.. settles in and idles at the perfect note straight away, like one pissed off demon of hell daring you to touch it - I want one

  • :04

  • ladies and gentlemen, i just released...

  • hey i like the cat engine too but used to have a 400 big cam with pump work done to it and i go make the guys with cats that had work done to them sick when i pulled past them on hills with more weight on too but now there is engines with massive torque with out working on them but i sure love the sound of the dd i drove many of them 671 8 92 and a 12v71 that worked good too

  • to all the kitty cat lovers out there give me a call when cat has an engine platform that has been around for 60+ years and is being produced for the military. 1938-present. 2 strokes are a work of art.

  • Cat has made diesels since the early 1930s and has provided dozers for the military for well over 70 years so watch what you say.

  • no an engine platform. i know how long cat has been out

  • @pope54x im very well aware of that. but how long has cat been able to keep a sigle engine platform? 2 strokes are virtually unchanged in there basic design since 1938. cats longest production model motor, would prob be the 3406 line, they are a good motor. im well aware that cat supplies the military dozers. im a 91L construction equipment repairer, i work on cat DV100s every day and they are all a POS the D7s and D5's are nice no complants there

  • @psdpowerstroke They sound nice, but i can tell you never hauled anything with one

  • @psdpowerstroke There are still 318's on the road to this day, now that's a testament to durability. As for Cat's, they're fair until you break one... then you're fucked. Good luck finding someone to work on one in the middle of nowhere, let alone on short notice. As problematic as the smaller caterpillar engines are, I'd never have one in a truck.

  • @psdpowerstroke They powered the landing crafts at D-day, and built our country. They are still produced for the toughest military applications today because no other engine can do it :)

  • @JtsGreene amen.. dont forget, powered sherman tanks too! Built and protected this country. Respect. Detroit Diesel FTW.

  • @psdpowerstroke

Just because the military buys it doesn't anything. I was in Army for 8 years as a 88M and I can tell you from experience they buy whats cheap not what's highest quality. When I retired they had started to phase out the V8 Detroit's.

  • sounds EXACTLY like the truck on maximum overdrive

  • @lespaulcollector yes dude fuckin exactly!! thats the first thing i thought when i watched this. lol. good ears.

  • it sounds the same as the one on maximum overdrive because she has strait pipes. NO muffler on the pipes like a regular truck. i know all about trucks and I know how to drive one and i know how to drive an excavator and Im only 13

  • its the most butiful sound in the world

  • Detroit Pig

  • Sounds like the rubber duck truck on Convoy

  • Two strokes were never popular in the UK. There were a few around in the 50's and 60's, (Foden and Commer) and Bedford and Scammell fitted Detroits into the early 80's.

  • newer trucks just don't have this amazing sound anymore, it makes me sad =(

  • @drifterboyy93

the new cummins isx15 sounds ok though

  • @MrSoccernugget I still think the ISX sounds like shit, both our T408SAR's have 530hp ISX's and they sound so constipated and well, weak... Small stacks and decent mufflers probably dont help either.

Certainly dont do the trucks any justice, in my opinion, if only the boss coulda spec'd em with C15's...

  • @ScotchRB30DET

yeah its really sad but but adleast their powerful

  • @MrSoccernugget weak trucks... like only 16000 lbs or so

  • @xismxist

wow thats weak what are they kws

  • @MrSoccernugget thats not much i can tell you that.... a volvo or scania of equal size will be 2-3 times heavier

  • @xismxist

    whats the manufacture

  • @MrSoccernugget as i said, volvo ;) and scania... two popular manufacters

  • @drifterboyy93 nor the hp/tq to cubic inch ratio, plus when one of these old detroits breaks, you fix it with a couple bucks, not a couple thousand...

  • @drifterboyy93 i like a 9800 international they sound the best

  • This truck sounds like a hot rod on steroids!! I love it.

  • sounds like the truck on maxium overdrive

  • lol same motor

  • Is it a 60 Detoit in your rig ? Mechanics @ my work tell me they're pain in the asses. The 2strokes are much better &cooler sounding.Like this Silver Series 8V92. The newer 60 series aren't worth there weight in scrap. Sorry, just my opinon.

  • In my opinion we have four detroit 60 series two of which have over a million miles we love them. We have about 14 cat c13s and we have had alot of problems with them such as turbos. But we do have two 3406 cats and we love those. Just my opinion from the experiences ive had with those engine

  • in the c engines you must run 5-40 synthetic thats why you are having trouble with turbos.

  • no we run 5 -40 synthetic and they still go through turbos. Just wish you could still but a kenworth with a detroit.

  • seriously???? then there is something seriously wrong.we get c engine with over 500k and they havent had nay trouble.but there are a few that do have turbo trouble.1 or 2 a month but we fix them under warranty

  • Comment removed

  • yes finally somebody else that agrees.we have detroits that come in every 35-50k for new front seals.new bottom end bearings, new timing covers, new turbos, new injectors, the list just goes on and on.

  • detroit is crap, i drive one and it sux. the cats in our fleet are much better.

  • your the first person ive seen that would take a cat over a detroit

  • only good thing about a cat engine over a detroit is more torq, aside that, detroit lasts longer, has a lot more hp and is a lot better on fuel

  • LMAO detroit has WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy more torque than cat

  • @robby844 again that depends on what engine you're talking about, serie 60 yeah but two strokes have np torq

  • hahahhahahahha.wow you are dumber than i thought.

    2,100 ft·lbf (2,800 N·m) @ 1300 rpm; 392-405 horsepower governed at 1800-2100 rpm

and thats a 8v92.CATs are 600 HP with the same torque.now what if the detroit had that much HP?

  • @robby844 woow took that directly from wikipedia didn't ya??? i guess you're smart enough to click the mouse on the link i'm impressed

  • no asshole it came from detroits TECH website.the guy that made the wiki page took it from the tech site.i guess cuz he made both.kinda sad when youre proved wrong isnt it?

  • Are you serious this V8 Detroit has something like 1250TQ when a I6 CAT has around 1850 and a V8 CAT has around 1850 so youre wrong!

  • lol where does a DD only have 1250? thats on the v6.the DD has 2450-3200 and thats on a single turbo version

  • The last 8V-92TA DDECs were known to squeeze out 500 hp and 1,450 foot-pounds of torque.

  • try 2450 foot pounds.

  • you are making yourself look stupid by saying that. did you not watch the video of this truck pulling it bearly pulled it! Then go watch the 3408 get a full pull!

  • show me a DD ever made for a big truck and they have never gotten over the 1650 mark! They may have that much for industrial use and the are Cat's with around 30,000 torque!

  • are you retarded? where the fuck you gonna cram a MaK 3516 in a peterbilt? and yes older detroits (as i have one in my truck now) have well over 2250.mines putting 2850 to the ground.and no truck engine can get 30,000 torque

  • Dude do I have to get the spec sheet out! Damn dude they have like 1250 to 1450 Torque and yes that is the 8v92! Damn dude im mean that was decent for its time but it couldnt compete with a 1693, 3408, or any 3406!

  • Just checked the BIGGEST 8v92 with 500HP has 1325TQ so 2250 is way off and 2850 is just making your driptroit loving ass look stupid.

  • i wanna see a cat run with 2 rods though the side and a fractured injector line....

  • well there is a 3408 cat with one turbo and fuel only! making 1250HP and well over 8000TQ so your deterds cant hang even if the can put out 2850 which they cant!

  • how is a any truck motor gonna make 8000tq?

  • Watch brets 3408 on the dyno and it makes that much tq the dyno dont lie its on youtube!

  • @green72chevypickup Chuck norris cranked the fuel pump on it. Only Chuck can get 8000 Ft Lb of torque from an engine LOL

  • We all know that the universe is constantly expanding outward in all directions. Scientists used to think it was due to the BIG BANG. It was recently discovered that, IN FACT the outward expansion is due to the fact that the entire universe is trying to get away from Chuck Norris!! :-)

  • i think hes refering to other cats, but there the size of an f350 full size truck.....there retarded too, thing at 700rpm idle burns 42L of fuel an hour 2500hp each and roughly 7000ft lbs.....no clue of the model or id tell you, canada uses them for there new training ships......thell bring a 300 ton ship to 30 knots..but meh, i liked the old 6-71s on the old training ships :P wanna know why detroit is better then cat? lets see a cat run with 2 rods out the side and a fractured injector line :P

  • hahah true.we had one CAT run with 2 injectors gone and a blown rod on an excavator.we put an oil barrel on the catwalk and ran it for 5 hours like that to get the job done.

  • nice lol, but that aint 2 rods :P lol i aint got nothing against cat, they make good durable diesels. there nice engines, but i do LOVE the scream of a detroit

  • lol i know and who doesnt love the scream of a jimmy.

  • @detroitmansilver92 Not true nothing can touch a B model on long lasting and nothing is faster than a 1693TA or a 3408 and has more torque!

  • i think a big cam 400 cummins with some fuel pump work wood give a 1693 a run for its money

  • Yeah, as the 3408B (if that was the sole direct-injection model) had put out 450 horses and 1,450 foot-pounds of torque when the sun set on production and sale of the engine circa 1985.

  • I like those detroit diesels that sounds like that. Sounds like the Green goblin truck of the movie maximum overdrive.

I guess why these are so loud is because it always runs at a high rpm's

  • Detroit diesels are loud like that 'cause they're 2stroke engines.1500 RPMs sound more like 3grand.

  • I love that sound but it still scares the sh!t out of me like it did when I was a kid watching that movie

  • awsome video, just dont hear them v-8 detroits anymore, very nice

  • love anything that just screams horsepower

  • i just like the engin lol

  • other then this detroit, which was designed while your grandfather was still chasin your granny through the feilds :P

  • cummins are by far the cheapest engines on the market, they're just too flimsy for the power they put out, i know, i've taken alot of N14 with broken valves, broken head, cracked block you name it they had it, so no cummins is not the best, maybe the most popular but that's it

  • it seems to me dat Detroits are more popular

  • detroits have a shit load of torque if u have it set up the right way not like all these other people that no nothing about them. i have a 12v71 and it runs better than a 600 cat

  • 8V92 SILVER... not a 318

  • That 318 in the pete is awesome....saw it at the buck many times!

  • silver 92 not a 6-71

  • darn it kenmex your killing me i didn't want to say out loud what u do...i thought i was the only one with a boner

  • love that sound

  • WHAT A SWEET SOUND!!!!

  • i've seen this video at least 50 times and everytime I get a boner.

  • just got a hard on.

  • Nice to hear a screamin' Jimmy!!

  • my favorite truck in the world

  • Has anyone seen a 12v92 in a truck?

  • I dont think a series 92 exixst in v12..only 71/ il do some research

  • I saw an old W900A that had a 12v92TA in it while looking for reference pictures. I think it was used to haul coal around Pennsylvania. It could still be around.

  • it must've been fitted because you can only get a silver92 V12 by coupling two V6 together, and the engine bay must be quite crammed up because it's a hell of a size for an engine...should check that out because W900A came with 12V71

  • yes it does exist, but you have to couple two V6 together, you can do the same with the V8 and get a 16 but the thing is, it takes a lot of space, costs a lot of money and is quite complexe

  • That is a real truck, its awesome!!

  • what year and model pete did you have to buy to get an 8v92 like this truck?

  • no diesel ever made has shit on the 2 stroke detroits, regardless of how much horsepower of torque they have. I would fucking pick a 2 stroke detroit just to sound mean and to say i have one. How cool does it sound to say I have a cummins, or a caterpillar diesel? I got a fucking DETROIT DIESEL

  • If u actually drove a detroit 2 stroke ud be ditching it pretty quick, u have down gear like crazy with theme going up hill, they have no torque, their brutal on fuel, and u'll lose ur hearing. But yeah there interesting for a day until you want to really move soemthing efficiently

  • just drive a detroit with 18 speeds an up, you won't have any problem, as for fuel economy they're the same if not better then some other engines today.

  • That's what i'm talking about, tell these fuckers Detroit engines kick ass...

  • Bullshit, look up a E-9 500 mack or a 3408 Cat...

  • You are officially retarded !

  • cat, cummins or BUST

    FUCK DETROIT

  • 8v92 and 12v71 detroits are cool i can admit it. but you can't beat the old cat 3406b or a 3408

  • wow i wish I could get an old 1 ton chevy pick up to hold an 8v92 just for the fun and noise it would make. that engine must weigh alot

  • Its N14 Plus or Celect...

  • streetpipes sounds nce

  • This Detroit sounds sick! I presently have my eyes set on an ol Diamond T I found on someones lot. For sure it's the 8v92 Detroit goin on it with double 8" stacks. And for the discriminatin comments, if you're a truck lover, it would'nt matter what truck or engine sucks or is the best! In my opinion they are all great!

  • Agreed! Two stroke Detroits are the best in my books! No-one needs to argue with that - and those that do need some sort of help!

  • Piece of shit?It's obvious you haven't driven,or for long.Give me a 12v71 and a 5by4 and your Cat will need a Vet

  • Detroit's hold up a hell of a lot longer than any cat out ther. That's why they arent making 2010 emission engines because accert technology sucks. Old detroits ran forever the series 60 is by far the best heavy duty engine on the road!! Try a new DD15, DD13, or soon coming DD16 and that will kick the cat king of the hills ass >....

  • AMEN!!!! Detroit FTW!!!

  • 1. CAT 2. CUMMINS 3. DETERDS! since they increased the liter from 12.7 to 14.0 they sucked you have to rebuild them every 500K do your homework!
