It is based off of bronze-steel age combat, hence the swords, spears, bows, shields, axes, glaives, etc etc etc. Charging into a mass of 200 people in a battle formation is far more physically exhausting than an other activity, other than actual combat.

The overall point being is that it's widely accepted that people who go on other people's videos with the intention of trolling are lacking in the social department.

Because if I parry your sword, I can get an easy kill on you. There is only "one" person who is good with a two-handed sword that I have ever seen and he is at my park and thats Sir Robin.. A sword knight from stormhaven in blackspire.

But a two hander combines some of the range of a polearm with the zero "deadzone" of a sword. Both hands on the weapon gives you a large amount of power with any direction of swing that can smash through most parries (excluding shields). I don't know if amtgard has any different rules, but I just don't see anything besides a sword 'n board being any more effective.

Flourentine is another style.. two swords. The thing is, is the two hander relied on being heavy and having its weight crush things. The weapons in amtgard are pretty light removing its benefit.

I've seen people try to use two swords. It never ends well. You are splitting your focus between two different "fronts" while your opponent can just focus on the one you are attacking with. So, offensively, hardly any advantage over a sword and shield. Then defensively, a single handed sword is awful. You have to use only the power of your wrist to deflect a bow. Now, with a two hander, you have a fulcrum (your front hand). This makes it MUCH easier to block, or change direction of a stroke.

In summary, a two hander has greater range than two swords, much greater defensive ability, and can attack almost as quickly.

No it can't and no it doesn't. Ask anyone who is part of Amtgard combat. Flourentine or sword and board are the main fighting styles. You only see people wield two handers for shits and giggles.

There's a reason no one dual wields in SCA. Just because people DO use double blades in Amtgard does not discount physics. A sword wielded in two hands will have more than twice the pushing strength of a sword held in one (not swing speed). So, in order to block a two handed weapon with a single one, you have to swing at it to cancel the momentum, since you will not be able to over power them.

They have much more control with two hands, and so it would be beyond easy just to adjust the swing to score a hit.

Two weapons have NEVER been a widely used combat tactic in history for a reason.

This is NOT the SCA. The SCA weapons are heavier and that is a game based on STRENGTH. Amtgard is based on finess. The two handed weapons in real life are HEAVIER and they take its weight into account. Weapons in amtgard weight 6 ounces. Two handers weight 9 ounces. So your physics does not add up.

As I've explained, it isn't a matter of weight, it's a matter of leverage. With two hands, you get more control, and more pushing strength.

In fact the effect is INCREASED by having lighter weapons. You can easily redirect a 9 ounce long weapon with 2 hands meaning it is absolutely foolish to say you could just "parry it" and then rush in before the person could recover.

And I keep telling you.. strength means NOTHING in amtgard. It means just about as much as Strength means in fencing.

Your right, strength only matters if you get in a pushing match, which would be foolish to do.

So, instead you have to swing at the opponents weapon to parry.

With light weapons and the superior control of a twohander, they can dodge your counterblow and score a hit.

In EVERY OTHER melee simulation group two handers are more viable than dual blades. I don't know how your group has managed to convince themselves they are different.

Why are you trying to overwhelm someone? One shot kills man. Just throw for their chest and move on. Its not a numbers game. If you are accurate enough, then you can block/parry and throw shots at the same time.

Well to hit someone, first you have to get through their defenses. I've seen people duke it out for minutes before someone got struck.

Also you're forgetting that in this game, you can punch block. Hand on weapon doesn't count.

Also the way the good fighters in this game close distance, one parry and pin is sufficient to run up the length of the weapon and kill you.

For good Flo, look for the Darkshore flo tournament with "Lief and Clalibus"

Um.. Ok.. Look up spin on youtube. Spinthrift is one of the best fighters in Amtgard and he never uses a shield. The thing about flourentine is, is that you have to be able to block effectively with your swords. He does it to near perfection.

If I were facing you in amtgard, I bet you I could EASILY beat you with flourentine while you use a two handed sword. I would use one sword to block out your sword and trap it, run in for the kill. Easy kills.

Why are you guys holding your swords from the very bottom of the handle? That would NOT work with a real sword.
