Okay so cheaper gas, but now I have to pay more for my food. I use food more than fuel, so now I'm getting screwed at both angles. Food prices haven't dropped either when gas per barrel fell back to normal. Ethanol isn't GREEN either, look at the foot print to create the ethanol fuel...scam money taxing the people...GOV needs to release FREE ENERGY ideally the water engine, byproduct H2O and Oxygen free electricity, grow own food for free SELF SUFFICENT humans independent & responsible
It sounds like another pie in the sky solution. If it takes a PhD to understand the explanation of a fuel, then it means it's not a viable economic alternative. Just drill more oil, and drive smaller cars. That would do more then anything for long term sustainability.
Ethanol doesn't take a PhD to understand it is vary easy to make and if you really think we can just drill our way out of the problems we have, then you should study Peak Oil allot more. you don't even understand long term sustainability at all.
this is absolutely great, the problem is. america doesnt want to change. we bitch and complain about fuel costs yet when we have the chance to supply new forms of fuel, we stop and say "well..we dont need that right now, gasoline is better" and we go right back to bitching. There's no way that we can get ANYWHERE, without coming together and changing the way we live.
There's enough energy in a glass of water to blow everything up in the room you're sitting in. We don't need this kind of fuel. Hydrogen is a suppressed energy.
It only has that kind of explosive power if it is compressed.
Perhaps, the minimum temperature gasoline will ignite without a spark or flame is 536-degrees, hydrogen is 932-degrees. And if it is leaking(which it would need to be to directly touch a flame), it is 15x lighter than air, so it will disperse better than gasoline.
I'll agree that it isn't 100% safe, but no fuel will be. Even if hydrogen fuel isn't the right alternative, Ethanol will just delay us from moving forward.
There is more than enough technology to do away with any kind of burning fuel. Such fuels were obsolete long ago. The earth and the atmosphere itself is one big ball of energy which can be tapped with no negative effects whatsoever. However such technology would require that those who know about it allow the world to use it. But they wont. They spend time and money of efforts like this which does nothing more than to bolster the illusion that energy is hard to obtain. This world is in a trance.
The sun provides us with all the energy we need. You don't even need solar panels. Just an electrical current and some water. Both are plentiful on earth. I don't understand why we still even use the term "fuel". It's pathetic. We have all the power we need. It's just that we're not allowed to harness it because then people can't make money (like "E-Fuel"). I don't know whether to laugh or cry..
Ethanol is not the answer. The biggest motivator is the cost, and if we cut cost we will cut the motivation. We need to use this price bulge to push straight through to alternative fuels. Hydrogen.

@utubeworms how small is your brain

@dustyblake1 Not so small as to know that a diesel engine gets mileage than a hybrid.

Apart from using electric and solar cars, what else can we use?
I think the main problem is finding a cheap, renewable, environmentally friendly fuel. Hydrogen has virtually zero output.
