Hired for money army costs nothing. It was proved by gruzins, trained by other mercenary troops from US and Israel. Russia has too much territory and resources to defend. Even well trained and equiped army is not able to do this, because after destruction of battle troops such army wouldn't reserves. The best variant for Russia on my think is to have army constructed by swiss example - every men have to serve a couple of weeks every month for train military skills by professional officers.

Hired for money army costs nothing. It was proved by gruzins, trained by other mercenary troops from US and Israel. Russia has too much territory and resources to defend. Even well trained and equiped army is not able to do this, because after destruction of battle troops such army wouldn't reserves. The best variant for Russia on my think is to have army constructed by swiss example - every men have to serve a couple of weeks every month for train military skills by professional officers.

Very true, Russia has larger borders and territories than the US, however it has only aprox. half the population. This realy puts the Russian gov. in a situation where they need conscription in this way. It's the same with for example Finland, few people, large borders. Compulsory service is needed to ready train men for the real thing. So for example, if war burst out you would have a poulation of which aprox. 80% males are already trained for combat, all you need to do is equip them.

Well Hitler did a great job of patching up germanys economy after the first world war and made germany strong and stable once again.
