Ducatis are no good for the averadge rider. Which most of us are. The smooth power delivery and reliability of a Jap R1 or GSXR or ZX is by far a better option. You will be safer on a Jap bike and richer. Ducatis reliability, cost and power delivery are not good. Leave V-Twins for a track with an experienced rider, for us you will be quiker on a straight 4.

A 600 is all you will ever need on the streets, a good rider on a 600 will out perform a shitty rider on a 1000 anyday, its all it how you shift..... a 750 is a big step up from the 600. 750 will get you the best of both worlds, its almost as light as the 600, and has 150 Bhp to keep up with the liter bikes.

in all honesty, it depends. If the rider can be careful and respect the power of the bike and respect rules of the road, the rules of the bike, and just being careful. It also helps to get some proper training, I've been riding almost a year now but after going to 3 race schools and practicing damn near every day, I am dragging knees and pegs on the track with ease. My first ride was last year on a Honda 919 (CB 900, Hornet 900) which is a fairly big bike. Just takes some respect for the road :D

Those two words don't work well together. sport bike and comfortable. If it's your first bike go with a 600 my 04 honda cbr 600 would get up to 287km/h(on a closed circuit..) you will learn how to ride better quicker on a 600, and askin what is more comfortable is all in the eye of the beholder. They are all very similar bikes with little caracter traits, it shouldnt make any difference for a new rider.i've had honda,yamaha and suzuki, all good bikes but the yammies are my jammies.

yes all the bikes are great but it just depends what you're looking for and your budget. ducs are quite a bit more expensive (upkeep as well) than a yamaha. if you're shorter the italian bikes are going to be easier to handle...taller than an R1 or a 6 might be better depending on the CCs you're wanting. i'm 5'4 and had a laverda (also italian) and the upkeep was crazy even though it had a dry clutch, etc. they all ride easy though...so look at your budget, test ride, and get on the road!
