  • Going to school for a course on special needs teaching assistants. Just attended a class lastnight and the topic was bullying. We watched Jonah's original video, then yours. I think it's safe to say the entire class was in tears. Thank you.

  • @APolice156 Thanks for sharing that with me.

  • Well done,:)

  • Your video is amazing. true courage. I'm happy for you. I'm happy you found the real you and realized that not only where you hurting but that you were hurting other people as well. I understand completely, Same thing happen to me, I turned out as the bully in the end. It truly is a vicious circle. Your video is an eye opener...

I once knew the old Matt Burton back in the day...and I knew there was a nice guy under-there some wheres, I'm happy you found yourself again. :)

    Peace.

  • To me it doesn't matter if you knew him or not, the point is you knew and effected the like of someone LIKE him and your appology is to him and all of them, What you did is brave, plain and simple. It takes a great deal of strength to come forward and be the voice of the road less traveled. The right path is NEVER the easy one and you're obviously well on your way to doing GREAT things in this world, this truly restored my faith in your generation. Thank you.

  • Excellent video. Bullying tends to be cyclical. Those who are bullied often bully. Thank you for having the courage to be honest and open. I wish more people were, because I think that would help reduce the problem of bullying.

  • THANK YOU!

  • well done man!

  • Good job Matt a fine example of what it means to be a man.

  • Thank you for your words - Jonah was strong, but you showed us another strength that is often hard for people to find.

    You are beautiful! xo

  • That's wonderful, Matt ~~ you are becoming aware of your true self ~~ and it just gets better and better :-D <3

  • You made me cry. I was so bullied at school that I let it spoil most of my life until I finally got help. It's brave of you to admit that you were a bully and wonderful you want to change. Stay strong.

  • It was courageous to admit to bullying. Bullying's like dominoes; it's the reason I never had kids; I was afraid that I would bully them. I was bullied by everyone~ other kids, their parents, even teachers. It began at home; continued to, from & at school. There was no escape, no one to help. I only ever bullied one person; he didn't deserve it. I've always felt bad about it. A few years ago I tried apologizing to no avail. So I accept apologies with grace, now, & thus the cycle stops with me.

  • I don't know you, but I'm proud of you.

  • 1. wtf is up with his black nail. and 2. he's struggling a lot with those notecards, it's distracting.

  • Knowing that you changed for the better makes this the best Response to Jonah I have seen.

  • I think it is awesome how you iappologize to jonah even though I know he was never bullyed he admited to it on national tv.. But I do admire how u want to stop bullying and how you think the cycle for ur bullying starts with you. POsted ya vid on fb think u are doing a great thing

  • @stephyboo1987 Jonah has never denied being bullied, or that his first video was a lie. There are tons of articles and his own comments out there to prove this. Stop the lies, please.

  • You seem like a cool guy. Thanks for this video.

  • Please make this video available for mobile users.

  • Learning to admit our mistakes and to ask for forgiveness are two of the hardest lessons we learn in life. Good for you, Matt! You're on your way to being a good, whole person! With a bit of honesty and courage the bullying can end, and you've made a big contribution towards that! And you can move on with your life being the authentic "you," not the fake one that led you into bullying! You're strong, smart and you're going to do very well in life!

  • why not just say out loud what happened...i thought part of "breaking the cycle" was about speaking up?

  • I have a tremendous amount of respect for you for admitting this to yourself and to the world. It is never easy to admit that we are wrong or have a weakness because we like to think of ourselves as strong and in control. When we can admit that to ourselves, it is so liberating. It is never too late to apologize or make amends to anyone.

  • Wonderful!! Thank you so much for your apology...it makes all the difference. You, like Jonah, are a brave & beautiful person.

  • Matt, I wish SO many children, teens and sadly, adults would have the courage to do what you just did. You and Jonah (regardless of whether YOU bullied him- you have both been bullies, and you bullied) have presented something we can all learn from. Thank you... so much.

  • alot of respect for you, for doin this!!

  • Fantastic, Matt! You deserve an incredible amount of credit for your courage. I am deeply moved. It gives me so much hope for the future :)

  • Jonah was 13.

Video poster: MattBurton 1987. Sorry, you aren't at school at the age of 24.

  • wow. it is just me or does this SCREAM courage ? Matt, youre a true inspiration. thanks.

  • Matt, It took a lot of courage to do what you did here... I Hope other young people like you stand up and do the same... its not fun or good to bully other people. YOur a good guy for doing this.

  • I Hope that kid see this. He really needs a helping hand. Awesome Attitude. I hope that other guys recognise what they have done, like u.

  • U just did a wonderful thing :)))))))

  • Powerful response Matt. I see a new trend. There's something about words on a few cards and no talking that forces the viewer to look behind the words and see the person stripped back.

  • Thanks Matt. I've been bullied and I bullied others. It's amazing how quickly we can take to it. The power of it is intoxicating, especially for one who was the one being bullied before. I'm not proud of things that I've done either, but I've forgiven myself. I've moved and and I honestly try each and every day to be a better person.

  • good to know that people who is bully can change to the good :d good video , we are proud of you:=)

  • @TOMJAYification I never met the kid, but he needs to hear this. This is what I would've needed to her when I was bullied in order to break the cycle.

  • @MattBurton1987 I am an advocate against bullying and I am so proud of you Matt for posting this video. You have helped prove that people can change and make it better.

  • @MattBurton1987 Good for you Matt! I was bullied too and I still appreciate when someone reaches out to try and help others - even if the haters think it's a cheap way to get views. If it helps someone then it doesn't matter, does it? Thanks!

  • @MattBurton1987 so u were never a bully or neverullied jonah?

  • @MattBurton1987 You are the perfect example of someone who took the video and actually learned something from it.. It disgusts me to hear people say such hateful things towards a 13-14 year old kid... I'm proud you learned something i've been in the same position as you as well. Really learned something and moved me from watching that video. Thanks for this it was really inspiring!

  • Your already FOGIVEN when u 1000% sure that u choose another way, not to be a bullier anymore!!!!!!!!! We're proud of u, we glad that u choose to fight against your BAD

  • I am really proud of you Matt. You have so much courage..and you're brave...this video means a lot and speaks volumes about your true character...

I have so much love for you now that I have seen your video.

    xo

    Ashley

  • I like your handwriting.

Tad irellevant but mines really messy :c

  • excellent man. it takes a lot of courage to admit your mistakes and even more to ask for forgiveness. you are on your way to becoming a real man. the key will be, will you hold true to your words and will you defend those you see being bullied. good luck to you.

  • Well done Matt for a creative and courageous video. Could I encourage you to continue to tell your story to a generation of bullies who are hurting and need also to find a way to break the cycle.

  • thank you matt you are totally brave and it musthave taken alot of strength to put this up and i a glad you did ... because it shows to all the trolls out there that jonah was NOT lying ... and i am sure he will forgive you , maybe not right away but i am sure he will THANK YOU for this

  • I don't know if I could forgive my bullies. Idon't think they are sorry. I'm happy now, but I think of them every single day, several times. I don't believe they ever think of me.

But I do give u recognition. I don't see my billies sitting down and doing what u just did. Takes a lot.

  • that does nothing but hurt anyone and everyone

  • takes just as much strength for you to put this video up as id did jonah to put up his....i to was part of the whole cycle and seeing jonah video also made me realize how many people i have hurt bc of the simple fact that i went thru the same thing and did it to people for the same reasons u did that no one stepped up to help me i had to defend myself at all times by myself...but that made me the person i am today hopefully all of us together can end this vicious cycle

  • Good on ya man...

    takes courage to apologize...

takes even more courage to actually mean it and admit you were wrong...

I hope this will start a new chapter in the world...

I know bullying will never completely go away...

but we certainly can stand together to fight, and help prevent it...

  • You are LOVED. You are FORGIVEN.

  • Well done. There may be more needed. Will you intervene when you see it happening with others? Otherwise, nice video.

  • You're amazing! I love you!

  • @MattBurton1987 Are you really one who bullied Jonah or were you just speaking metaphorically? Please let me know. In either case, I think you're quite a man to admit when you're wrong. I'm proud of you. Please don't let it end here. Pass the word. #StopTheHate

  • You're a great guy. Very courageous indeed. Saying sorry takes some guts, even more if it is in public. Thanks to people like you bullying will be stopped and so much pain will be saved. Love from Peru.

  • good for you sir. gives a guy hope in the world.

  • Bravo. Next to jump on the Bandwagon...

  • Matt awesome, humble and brave to step forward like this..

  • It take a real man to admit he was wrong, and sincerely apologize. Your step forward shown in this video creates a huge impact on others who bully/bullied. Thank you from the bottom of my heart :)

  • Be proud of yourself Matt, i am :) You have a lot of courage to have been able to apologize to Jonah and the others, you deserve to be forgiven..

  • Now that's a true man right there. One who can publicly admit he is wrong and post it up for the world to see. I don't even know you but I'm proud of you man to man.

  • Thank you for doing this.

  • That was absolutely beautiful. That took courage. I hope a lot of people come forth to break the cycle as well.

  • You should be proud of yourself. Thank you for posting this. It will definitely be passed on for other kids to see and follow your lead. Tonight you are a hero to many teenagers and I hope they follow your lead.

  • Very good of you to apologize for bullying. It is a vicious cycle and it needs to end. You're cute so I forgive you:)

  • Bullying its indeed a cycle, one that bullies dont know how to stop

because most of them are still being bullied. By whom?

Their own families, their so called friends and other people

They are angry with themselves for not being able to stop this

I know this because this was me, 1 year ago. Same as you

I used all my anger to make life for others miserable.

Now I look back and I really regret it. I hope

one day those kids find it in themselves to forgive me.

    I ended my cycle. I'm sorry! =/

  • This is incredible Matt. I don't know you from the next guy, but I am so proud of you. That took a lot of courage to make that video, and show that even when you are wrong, you can still make things right. You are truly an amazing person. Thank you for this video. :) You are awesome.

  • Wow...coming forth to apologize for bullying. Kudos to you Matt.

  • Wow, this is incredible.

  • Matt, You are just as smart, and courageous at Jonah. You DO have the strength that he does. It takes guts to come clean, but to man up and do it in a social forum, I definitely can appreciate how hard that had to be. Good on you. You deserve to be forgiven. I would forgive you. Stay strong. T

  • Matt, you are amazing! Thank you for appologizing and owning up to what you did. takes a lot of courage.

  • *reaches across the US/Canadian border and hugs you tight*

  • Thanks Matt! You are Awesome for doing this!!! Much love from Canada!!!!

  • Thanks Matt. This is wonderful.

  • Matt you should be so proud of yourself for having the courage to do this! You can't change the past, but you can apologize for your mistakes, learn from them, and encourage others to do the same.

  • where did u bully him?

  • I agree, this was your step forward to become a man. congrats and hope it inspires other people who bullies to stop it. It's way out of hands.

  • Much respect, Matt. I hope we see more videos like this from others. It gets better for both sides, doesn't it?

Very powerful message, I'm proud of you and Jonah for these videos. They're changing people's lives, that's for certain :)

  • Dude, I love you. I am sooo proud of you for being so brave to realize and to show MILLIONS of people that what you did is wrong, and that bullying is wrong in general. I am sure Jonah will forgive you (and probably already has by now). This is just another step for the movement. Thank you. :)

  • Well done.

  • You're the only person who's bullied anyone I've ever seen who was sorry, who explained why, and who wanted to make it better. I got bullied, a lot, and never knew why until now. That doesn't make what happened ok, but it gives me hope that bullies can someday realize everything you just said, and make better choices. Thank you for making and posting this. Thank you for caring.

  • This was a very deep video. I'm so proud of you,Thank you!!

  • I would just like to say that YOU are so amazing for doing this. You do not even realize how much you matter and the fact that you did this shows how much of a person you are! I don't even know you but I love what you did!!

  • SUPER SUPER SUPER POWERFUL!!! THE REVOLUTION HAS STARTED. AWESOME MAN - THANK YOU!

  • soo proud of you, that takes guts hun:)

  • hey. can you allow mobile views please? I've read the comments and I'd really like to view this. thanks!!!

  • <3 Thnx!!! It doesnt just help One person it Helps... MILLIONS!!! <3

  • Matt, You just became a MAN.

  • @Builderboy1971 - I approve this message, and I'm a woman.

  • Matt, you're beautiful. And it takes a lot of heart and courage to admit and apologize for our faults. I cried through this video. And you probably shouldn't eat flies.. Because they eat and walk on shit :P

  • I'm proud of you, Matt. My father was my tormentor and my bully. It isn't just kid on kid. Bullying, abuse, is about breaking another person's spirit. That's what I saw in Jonah's video. He was broken but wasn't giving up. If only all the kids who have committed suicide had known how really resilient they are; they would still be with us. I'm glad you are breaking the cycle. Speak out when you see bullying, be a force for good in the world. You have taken the first step.

  • You're a strong & brave person to admit this. Not very many people have the courage to do this!

  • Comment removed

  • Admitting when you are wrong takes courage.

  • @Coiledrevenge You bet it does! Matt has just as much strength that Jonah did and put himself out there for a lot of back lash from haters just like Jonah did. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this. It starts with one person. Way to go Matt

  • This brought tears to my eyes.. this is incredible. <3

  • Proud that people can admit what they've done wrong, and apologise. Well done.

  • Congratulations for having the strength and courage to say sorry. Not a lot of people could do that. You should be proud of yourself for making a choice to stop the cycle.

  • WOW. This is AMAZING. Kudos to Jonah. and Way TO GO Matt.

    Break the cycle. :)

  • atleast someone have the courage to admit and say sorry for all the times they have bullied Jonah, well done Matt

  • Its always easier to attack then to defend and u showed a huge amount of strength by stepping up and deciding to defend others who were bullied.

  • Way to go, bro. I hope you're serious, and I'm sure Jonah forgives you. That moved me just as much as Jonah's post and you ARE just as strong. You are just as inspiring. Peace, brother.

  • I appreciate your change of attitude. I'm happy that you are happy, now. Thank you for putting this video on you tube. You will make a big difference in this world.

  • Well done, mate.

  • @Kamik898 did you even watch the video? Why are you perpetuating the bullying? Let it go dude. And don't forget that it's okay to love yourself, too. ;)

  • @Kamik898 A real man is not afraid to show emotion.

  • Yeahhhh man good job, I bullied ppl myself too, and got bullied as well... Always inspirationnal to see honesty and truth arise, bravo ''roomate'' lol ;P
