Unfortunately many people (not just US citizens, people in general) are scared of change - possibly because they don't understand it or because they're already wealthy and therefore feel they're better off earning lots of money whilste poor people struggle to survive.

He isnt a socialist. Period. It would be great if he was, but unfortunately he's not. If he were a socialist, we would have a higher minimum wage (picture 15/hour instead of 7/hour), we would have free health care, education, etc, as well as nationwide assessment of the poor and homeless with the ultimate goal of accommodation for these individuals. Iraq would be left to self-determination and America would dismantle the pillars of Goldman-Sachs, Merril Lynch, etc. Ah, but one can dream.

There are those who could argue that the nation was already a socialist nation before Obama even took office. Along with Socialist programs we also had our largest bank AND insurance company owned by the Federal Government. Marxism states that it's a natural progression as a nation becomes lazy to move towards dependance on the government.
