As a clarification, the Osmonds were more successful earlier on, but at the same time the Jacksons were touring the chitlin circuit. Once the Jacksons came on the scene the Osmonds changed their sound. Both groups are great, god bless them both.

Don't get caught up in that, each have their pluses and minuses, the Jacksons sold more records but yes the Osmonds as a performing group have gone on longer. Each are good and the whole versus debate is pointless.

That's what I admire about Marie Osmond is her lighthearted laugh and sparkling smile and good sense of humour, I just finished reading her book - it was wa a good read.

i kept up with the jacksons and the osmonds. during that time both were great. i yet like marie and donnie as i do the jacksons. lost track during the 90's on both. but since mj's death, its all kinda comin back. both did what was required of them. i'm a shy person,dont sociallize a lots, plus dont hee-haw like some would like me too and have been called plenty of nasty names just because of that. some people misunderstood mj on purpose so they could have a reason to bash him. time showed that.

You're right no compararison. The Jackson family were very talented. But the Osmonds...........take a look at what they have accomplished as a family. And life is Most definitely not worth wasting the time vehemently debating who's better. It's like comparing apples to oranges. They are different, but both enjoyable in their own ways. It's also a matter of taste. Some people just don't like the taste of apples. It's not that apples are bad.

the osmonds were NOT just doing barber shop on the Andy williams show-- they were doing light rock as well, so its still a question of who copied whom. they left andy williams because the show producers weren't supportive of the change of music.
