  • wow u do it the long and time consuming way

  • This was terrifyingly helpful, thank you <3

  • i can do this on 1 layer : O Ctrl Z is magical

  • can any one direct me to a tutorial series like this for Photoshop elements 8.0??

  • how do i make the lineart layer? Am I supposed to draw it with Photoshop, or is there some way for me to have a background layer along with an imported picture without drawing it?

  • @Hiromu656

I make a new layer over my sketch and carefully draw it in photoshop. But if you want to import a picture of lineart and you need to separate it from the background I will post a link to a tutorial on your page

  • @Ryuuji91

Oh, never mind, I found out how to do it. Thanks a lot for this tutorial though. :)

  • Arigato Gozaimasu ^_^

  • wowe!!!!!!!!! just like an expert ^%^

  • Can you do this with adobe photoshop elements?

  • @SugarPaw1233 I'm sorry I've never used elements so I don't know :/

  • @Ryuuji91 its ok i tried and it works, anyways thx!!!

  • oops i forgot to tell you that i have 2 accounts!!! lol its me SugarPaw1233

thisa is just my main one!!!

  • @SugarPaw1233 yes u can just follow the tutorial in this vid and ur good to go

  • @SugarPaw1233

I have Elements, it's possible to do what he's doing in this video, but you'll have to change the way you do it. (Mainly creating the Background along with a lineart layer)

  • Can ya tell me the song u used in this vid? ^^

Btw, i tried ur turtorial, but the lineart is away if i fill the skin with colours ._.

(Sorries for bad english, it isnt perfect :P)

  • the first song is: Mask - Tamerai jisatsu singou

the second song is: Fairy Fore - Planetary

Make sure the lineart is on it's own layer. And then put any colouring layers UNDERNEATH the lineart layer. Then the lineart should show through.

  • you can use the pen tool to do lineart once you get the hang of it its really easy and quick, but you tend to get a very uniform lineweight on it so that maybe a drawback

  • whare you can get those kind of brushes

  • I only used the standard brushes that come with Photoshop.

A hard round brush and a soft round brush (which I might call an 'air brush' sometimes)

  • How do you get the lines so straight?

I am using a Wacom tablet too, and I am drawing in Photoshop CS2, but I have problems with my lineart, because I cant get it straight enough.

Are you using some kind of toturial, if yes, witch one? x3

  • There's no trick to it. It actually takes me AGES to do the lineart. All it I do is just keep drawing the line fast and undoing it if it's not smooth. my fingers are always on CTRL + Z xD For the horizontal/vertical straight lines I just use the line tool.

Lineart is the most stressful part for me xD

  • Geez, I was hoping there was a trick xD Oh well, guess it can't be easy all the time..

    Arigato x3

  • lol sorry I wish there was too n__n'

Some people use the pen tool but I don't know how to and it looks a lot more time consuming. But it is a VERY neat way to create lineart.

  • By the way the lock transperancy worked waaaay different on my computer.... It just didn't do anything when I drew in that layer.....

  • Yes, I put in the description that I used a Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet...

urmmm what version of photoshop are you using? It should work this way on all versions tohugh =/ Lock the transparency on a layer and it will only allow you to paint on areas that have already been painted in the layer. Make sure you have something painted on the layer where you locked the transparency. Other than that, I'm not sure what else could be wrong =/

  • Oh! ^^; I didn't notice.......

I'µ using Photoshop Cs3 Extended. I did all you said but nothing.....Oh well.....

  • It is waaaay too accurate! You use a tablet, don't you? Coz I doubt that a mouse can be handled THAT well...

  • I have photoshop 7.0 and I don't know where to find the airbrush brushes? :? does anyone know? x

  • You can use either an airbrush or a soft brush. They're both basically the same. The soft brushes should be in your brushes palette (when you right click on your canvas).

The only airbrush I know of is in the top left hand corner of the screen (while you have the brush tool selected), there should be a small picture of a brush and a little arrow next to it. Click that and you should be able to select from airbrush. but in this tutorial I just used a soft round brush on pen pressure.

  • do you know how to outline the drawing?? o.o cuz thats where im having troublee!! D:

btw i love ayabie too. <3 lolol.

  • You mean the lineart? I think I have a video on lineart uploaded, have a look. My sketches are REALLY rough though, so it might be difficult for you to see what's happening. But, basically I just use either a 1px hard round brush OR a slightly bigger brush with pen pressure, they both create different styles.

  • can utell me the RGB for skin colour please? =3

oh and nice vid.. Really like the song to =3

  • The base skin colour is...

    R: 246

    G: 221

    B: 190

For the shading I just guess and slowly go darker and slightly more red/brown.

  • Ok tyvm =D

  • J-ROCK !!!!!!!!!!

    YAAAAAAAYYYYYY

    GOOODDDDD CHOICEEE =3

is this ayabie? D: cant hear it correctly.

If it is ayabie than im your biggest fan :3

  • lol you are right to assume Ayabie xD but it's actually Mask (the first song) but one of their old songs when Aoi was the vocalist ^^ I'm a big Aoi fan =P

  • NOOOO I already gonna marry Aoi D:

Waittt we cut him into 2 pieces =D

  • lol it's ok I don't want to marry him 0__0 he's just easy on the eyes and ears hahaha I like his style =P

  • Your really amazing. :3

Keep it up,you have major talent and great taste in music. ;o

  • compliment overload! *dies*

    Thanks! ^__^'

  • *hands you bandaid* :o

    Your Welcome. =w=

  • But ive got a problem i open up my lineart of something but.. its on background so i duplicate the layer and name it layer then put the skin layer inbetween the background and duplicated one and try to paint but nothing appears? any solutions?

  • Wow thanks so much thisis awesome! cant wait to see a clothing one next :)

  • you're welcome =] The next one in line is the eyes and then it will be clothes. Although this character has quite tight clothing but I will try and show how to create folds and such anyway =P
