I remember this from the movie Beavis and Butt-Head do America...I was in 5th or 6th Grade & I'm not sure if the guitar player fort the Chilli Peppers was Dave Navarro or Josh Klinghoffer, but I think it was one of the 2...My Playing style back in those days was largely influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eddie Van Halen....
The added 9th on A sounds little off from the album but it may just be me. Awesome lesson I wanted to learn this today! :) Any Prince stuff? like technique from, Sign 'O' the Times?
the chords are right the distortion isent though but i dont blame you i bet its hard to get distortion just like that now a days but if you did have that kinda flawless but pretty much is nice job man!
Damn! U R FUNkkkkkkkeeeeeeeeeeee! And there is nothing wrong with "Rogerizing" ... course I could be predisposed to "Dazz" funk being born and raised in Dayton, OH, USA.
nice vid-yeah i agree this one can be played more percussively than Navarro did it on the recording-more funk, less rock-any chance you've got that nasty riff towards the end, i'm trying to ear that one out
hey man this is really cool- as the guy earlier said, you show the real deal. please keep posting funk videos! by the way, for the major chords/9th in this song, ive heard by some people that you should wrap your thumb around, as opposed to playing it like a barre? im not sure, by what is your input? thanks!
finally, someone who does it right! the best part of the song is how he mixes up the guitar riff intro. most people play just the major chords and it drives me crazy. well done
how are you forming those chords, cuz my way is different and i cant put my pinky on the parts with the changes...could you tell me what fingers you have on what strings and frets on the cmajor chord?
Hey man, you dont mess around. You showin the people the real deal! I like the way you teach it ,yo! I'm a pretty accomplished guitar player myself but I got a kick out of this! Plus, I'm from Dayton,OH. Still live here, & I know, have played with, & have recorded with the Players. Thanks for givin my cuz, Roger T a shout on here. I was actually an engineer for a few years in Troutman Sound Labs back in the day. But anyway, keep it funky bruh!
Yeah man. When people talk about funk guitar.Roger Troutman doesn't usually come up. I "WILL" change that. As a kid I spent a lot of time on that stuff. To this day I listen to him-a lot. I wish he was still around.
Yeah we need to keep funk alive(for lack of a better saying). Now all the kids are tech savvy, and realized they don't have to know anything about music,to make music...and I can hear that. I also hear when someone plays funk, but doesn't feel it. Bootsy always said don't fake the funk-but there is a lot of that goin' on. it's cool that you got to pioneer a lot of this stuff-pass it on to these young guys man a lot of them need it.
Hey everybody!!! Thanks for all the comments. I have put my Funk guitar method on DVD. It is 55 minutes,NTSC format, and is just exercises and lessons on playing funk. No fluff, or wasted space. Just explaining my way of playing funk.
$10 + shipping. Message me for info on how to buy.

It's an F-shape chord. The 9th is added with your pinky.
