and i guessed they recorded it with some kind of gadget that the animations followed

It's called "reactive animation" and if you own a XBox 360 with a Kinect then you'd know that this isn't all that difficult these days.

Still, it's impressive - and slightly scary :/

Its MMD, not motion capture. They are miming along to a video that was created by posing models in frames and playing it back

@DasStoic you are correct in the "It's MMD" part, but if you watch carefully, it's done in realtime, not mimicked - which means that the data was being fed to it via webcam+software or a Kinect. In the field we call this "reactive animation" (I study Interactive Multimedia and Animation at university). Just to be clear: I am not trying to start an argument or to say that you're wrong (because technically you're not). I was just trying to explain it without getting overly technical. =)
