A pure explosion of energy and class, love to see that the younger generations are keeping the proud heritage strong in their hearts and minds. Great vid...
That's wassup! My Aboriginal Australian brothers still holdin' it down! Beautiful I could have thought that theses were some brothers at Coney Island if I didn't hear them singing in another language.
@acidfriend47 lots of different names, didgeridoo or didjeridoo or however you want to spell it is of European origin. Yirdaki or yidaki is one of the Indigenous names for the instrument.
Thanks for this. Really good to see a clip with Yidaki in context with song, bilma and dancing. Not much on youtube like this. Also good to see young fellas mixing it up - doing culture and having fun with it.
Glad you like it Simon! Talking about Elijah, I'm thinking of a workshop/masterclass with him around mid-year and spoke to someone else about it. Are you coming to Australia this year and would you be interested?
Ramingining doesn't have the profile or the talent for yidaki as in the other communities you mentioned, though manikay is strong there. Gapuwiyak has many competent yidaki players and manikay singers.
Just bought a yirdaki a few days ago and have started playin it pretty well already, i;ve always been fascinated by it.
And the racists can shut the fuck up, these are the true australians, ur in a blackmans land, if you dont like em kindly fuck off to wherever it is ur ancestors came from!
White Australians and their laws on immigrants and foreign policies, lol, the biggest fuckin joke on earth seeing as u are the foreigners or generation of immigrants!
wow, I really enjoyed that. I've never seen anything like this before in my life, young indigenous Australians in Hip hop clothes playing traditional music
Thanks for sharing, you captured a beautiful moment.
I really love all the videos of Elijah Gunydjurruwuy, he is so very talented. Thank you very much for posting this video. Can u please tell me about this song? the meaning etc
I just want to say thanks for posting this. It is great to see Aboriginal culture thriving in song, dance and language. I was very happy to see these young blokes interested in continuing Australian culture and doing it with such obvious skill and dedication. I look forward to the next generation keeping the traditions alive and passing down the knowledge from those before them.
this shit is wierd im american and i have no idea what he is doing ....but i will say he does look like he will soon master his craft. his stamina and playing style is interesting

i played the didgeridoo in front of these japanese tourist who came to my high school, even though the didg id not my thing and i only had one hour to practice playing it for the first time they loved it anywayz
it seems like everyother country but America has culture! Australia's dot art, didgeridoos and boomerangs. Arabia's turbans. England's fancy whatever. But what does america have??? Gangsters and pimps.
Practicing in the hot sun, playing yadaki, singing and dancing (to the beat!) is one of the most capturing performance's I've ever seen and displayed a "superb human achievement" to even be able to be out there (in the sun)let alone perform like that!
I'm so glad these wonderful videos are on You Tube -- so important. The young (cool) men embracing traditional music and dance and enjoying themselves is a pleasure to see. Thank you so much!
Love the shoes too, and Birmangawuy dancing in socks! If you listen closely, you'll hear Elijah fussing over his shoes, he didn't want any sand on them!!

Would love to meet Elijah next time in in Aus.
How much more yidaki playing/manikay singing outside of ceremony is there in Gapuwiyak compared to Yirrkala, Elcho, and Ramingining?
Cheers,
