I just wanted to have the tub, in my secondary bathroom (first floor), fitted with a new overlay. I'll do the rest of the bathroom myself. I have another full bathroom upstairs. They want $1,800 just to install a tub liner.
For that much money, I'll bust the old cast iron tub and get a new acrylic tub at home Depot for 1/3 the cost. Put it in myself. I have helped put many tubs in for friends and neighbors before. It is just a real pain busting up the cast iron and the mess.
I had them put a liner in my home within 1 week it started to lift up due to the water underneath the liner then it started to mold. They came out to see the poor job they did and now they will not return my telephone calls. I would never recomend this company.
The problem with these liners are they mold as well as float, these problems are with every type of liner. No matter who installs them or the company. If you have a liner in your home have it removed. The thing to do is to replace the old tub with a new one or have the old tub resurfaced. If the liner is moldy consult a lawyer, these companies are liable for the damages caused by their products this includes illness from the toxic mold spores.
