  • Oh My God! I want to see this!

  • This man is a dance genius...

  • I wish I could go on that musical, it's such a pity they've stopped touring around America. It's just a beautiful story, no matter, the movie, the musical...It's touching and makes us feel something new about ourselfs, if there's anything to change...if there's anything bad or good inside. Tim Burton is a god damn GENIUS.

  • Edward Scissorhands always makes me cry.. Even just watching this preview makes my eyes feel like something might come out of them. XDD

  • so is this a musical? or a play? or an all dance show?

  • hello out there :)

i live in germany, so i haven´t the possibility to see it here. but i have found out, that i can in belgium, which is nearly round the corner from where i live. a very good idea to adapt the story to such a medium. i´m happy already to see it :)

  • OMG he came up with another story for Edward scissorhands, Tim Burton would be proud

  • I saw this at Sadler's Wells Theatre in London in January, it was my Christmas present from my boyfriend, because he knows how much I love theatre, and Edward Scissorhands...and it really was the most beautiful stage show I've ever seen. I was moved to tears numerous times. The music was absolutely fantastic, it was enchanting. The characters were developed stunningly, the story was told amazingly. It was just....perfect.

I wish it was still on to be honest, I'd LOVE to see it again....

  • this looks great! i wanna see it!!!!!!!

  • Don't you konw any website when i can see the tour of this ballet?

Or whatever are they still playing this?

  • Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase the stage production on DVD? I doubt I'll ever have the opportunity to see it live...:(

  • just awsume!!!!

i saw this twice at Badminton theater 1st and 2nd lines!its was brilliant!i was crying in the end and after the end xD i hope that someday it will come again!!!<3

  • I Saw This At Birmingham Hippodrome, And I Loved All Of It! The Choreography Was Amazing, And My Favourite Part Has To Be The Ice Dance, The Accompaniment With It Was Lovely. Id Watch It Again. 5/5

  • where can i watch whole thing ? i think it won't be showed in my country aqnd i want to watch it. Can you help me please?

  • 私は、natcrackerは見に行ったのですが、

    Edward Scissorhandsは見逃してしまったのです。。。

    やっぱりすばらしいですね~!!

  • I finally saw this production this week and it was absolutley incredible. The set was brilliant and the dancers were wonderful. The guy who played Edward was amazing. He completely drew everyone in. I'd see it again and again if I could.

  • Contemporary dance is a fusion of different styles. Bourne's company are professionally trained dancers, a majority if them in ballet. You can easily see the balletic influence in a lot of his pieces. Bourne's Edward Scissorhands is dance theatre, dance through movement and mime. There were a lot of beautiful dances in this, and I was moved to tears 5 times!! The dance is equally as maggical in the film. I don't feel it lost anything from the film- they're different, but equally magical.

  • Bloody hell, it's CONTEMPORARY DANCE you eeeediots! Contemporary is balletic but known for it's versatility and derisions from various different dance methods.

Matthew Bourne IS contemporary, along with Martha Graham and many otherrs. Hope this clears any confusion!

  • It doesn't have to have pointy shoes to be ballet and you obviously don't know ballet because the entire Topiary Dance and Ice Dance are ballet dances.

  • I saw it. Lost the emotional impact Johhy Depp managed. Even the dance between Kim and Edward without scissors did not create romance and sympathy...where is that innocent, gentle, sweet boy who heart-breakingly could not really fit in? And in Opera House without live music is a negative too.

  • I really wan't to see this! I'm a bit confused though, cause it's said to be a dance/musical show...but are there any actual sung songs in it?

  • No, it's a ballet. There is no dialogue whatsoever. The music is based on Danny Elfman's original score, so fans of the film should recognise them, as well as a few original sequences but, no singing. The emotions are conveyed so beautifully through the dancing that no words were needed really.

  • No, how can you call it ballet? No pointy shoes and no ballet movement at all...it is a musical/dance show.

And I have to agree with the Sun Herald, the story is confusing now...there is no hint whatsoever in this version that Edward is to be rejected...he was loved - award, salon...and the person play Kim, Noi Tolmer, has made no impact emotioanlly at all. 7 out of 10. And in Opera House with recorded music, for a musical show? Kidding me!

  • Well, ballet isn't all pointy shoes and tutu's. But I'll just call it dance because it's kind of a small thing to disagree on.

I don't know, I guess we have different opinions. I loved it but it certainly wasn't the same as the film.

  • @glide55555 you're an idiot.

  • I saw it recently. Surprisingly No live music fro a musical/dance show!!!...and very humble reviews from media in Australa - 6 out of 10 from Sun Herald.

  • The Australian media were quite bland about it weren't they? I think they were wrong, I saw it last Wednesday and it was incredible. 6 out of 10? A complete rip-off in my opinion, it deserved so much more.

  • I had never even heard of this until this moment--- i love his nutcracker and i wish i could see THIS... strike that; i wish i could dance in it!

  • Oh. It's beautiful! Is it coming to the States? I've got to see this! Bravo! Bravo!

  • Tis a shame as I find Matthew Bourne's work quite innovative yet the movement in this show was contrived and felt more akin to the ''stage decoration'' one would expect to see in your bog standard musical.

  • If your going to take such an iconic film like Edward Scissorhands and tell it through a different medium such as dance you ought to make the most of that particular medium. The dancing topiary were absolutely magical and I feel the show would have benefitted from more abstraction to free up the dance element and more ideas such as this, simply retelling the story without words seems to me to be a futile venture.

  • I saw the show just over a year ago and wasn't convinced, it was far too narrative in the classical sense.

  • i want to hug edword!

yea, i think suberbia, and conformaty is wearder than edword.

  • I just saw this on Wednesday night at the Ordway and I thought it was amazing!

  • I saw this last night at the Ordway and thought it was great. Fun to watch and beautiful production.

  • ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING. Words cannot express how GORGEOUS this production on every level - saw the matinee 3/31.

I could watch this production again and again. A visual and sensual banquet. Thank you for bringing such needed beauty to NYC.

  • OMG I saw it today at BAM, and I've completely fallen in love....Bourne is a genius <3

  • that was absolutely breathtaking. i must see it. must.

  • Mmm...it looks okay, but the fact that it isn't the movie really turns me off. You just don't screw with the holy Burton/Elfman combo.

  • But see, that's what makes this production so wonderful. Yes it's not the movie (and why try to re-create Burton and Elfman's masterpiece?), but it takes the emotional themes of the movie and recreates it SO successfully. To be completely honest, I've never seen the movie, but I know I'll just fall in love with it now after seeing the production at BAM yesterday.

  • I'm a huge fan of all of tim and dannys' collaborations and have been since beetlejuice. i was pissed when danny didn't do james and the giant peach, so i was a little skeptical of this too. i just saw it and i have so say it was incredible!! it really captured the emotion of the movie, i cried just as much. it still has danny's music and tim's basic story and visual feel. matthew bourne pulled it off brilliantly!

  • OMFG THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • i worked on this production and it was completly magical, iv been inlove with edward since i was 10 so to see it all come to life infront of my eyes was a dream come true.

thankyou matthew bourne - truley wonderful.

  • Grest! Wish I could see it, but they don't perform it in Germany ;(

  • i saw this on friday and i got to meet matthew bourne. it was absolutely wonderful!! there is no diologue and though i've never seen the movie and i understood the story completely. now i want to see the film!! my friend who i went with says it is very much like the film. it was truely great!

  • SEE IT!!! And buy the soundtrack!!!

  • 0_0 must...see...this!

  • god I want to see this, thanks for posting the clip. =)

  • Hmmmmmmmmmmm no. Sorry. Doesn´t convince me. I´ll stick to the movie.

  • Tim and Danny backed it, they were excited about a new interpretation of the material. So I hope you're not making your decision based on the fact that it isn't the movie.

  • I'm making my decision based on the fact that I don't like it. If Tim and Danny like it, good for them. I hope they have a ball. But I don't like it. I don't like it at all. And that is final.

  • and to believe that i saw this today for free

    =]

it was the best performance that i have ver seen in my life!

    lol
