It's WPI where are all of the fire prevention engineers? Hahahha jk. =) I remember going to see this building all burnt and such. I wish your camera was better quality.
I Know the people who owns the property. My friends family owns it. it was a place that they rented out to people. That is where the fire started. It went up so quickly because it was in the process of being remodeled...All that was inside was a 100 yr old wood structure loaded with sawdust and some tools.
Couple of things at the end that were asked, they are breaking the windows to provide ventilation of the structure, this prevents hot gasses from accumilating and creating an explosive condition known as backdraft.
also because the house was a loss more than likely the efforts of the firefighters would be directed at preventing more houses from catching
My wife and I lived on Lancaster St b4 we got married. She visited Worcester last weekend and noticed a part of the complex was black, I wonder if this was the fire that caused it.
I passed through Worcester a couple days ago. I saw this house's remains. The entire roof was burnt open, charred and black... but the front of the house seemed fine, from the outside, at least. But seeing it was sad.

At 1:57 you can see parts of the building collapsing. This was the most ridiculous fire I've ever seen.
