It doesn't really look much like either of those. Not sure what you're trying to say. It looks like those because it has 2D models? Of course it does, like most RPGs for the 15~ years before 3D became the norm. It looks like thousands of those games if that is what you mean... but that's a pretty generic description. Many, like myself, prefer them to 3D models of the current era (for this genre of game).

Awww, man. I always thought that Dragon Quest VII was a 3D game. That doesn't turn me away from it all, just changes my expectations of it a little. I've been wanting to get this game for years, it's been $20 at a local used games store for a long time(the exact same copy of the game hasn't sold since the store was opened a few years back) but I'm still waiting for it to release on the Playstation Network. I'd rather play the game on my PSP than on a console. :<

Longest game i ever played was FF10 i spent 320 hours on it (double playthrough since i missed bahamut treasure to get Anima >.>) to get 100% w/o S.Guide. but in all srsness its prolly like 250 since i left my PS2 on for days at a time lol

When i think of this game i think of SWORD DANCE FFS, i got through the whole easily just by using sword dance, in addition to some support spells from maribel. in other words, once i i got sword dance= easy game!! honestly if you got through this game without sword dance you must have been out of your mind!!

Maribel is my fave character in the game. She mostly uses magic and has lots of MP. I was glad that she wrapped the fight up for us. I'd also choose her for the final battle rather than Aira, because she never caught up with the other character's level. No offense to Aira's fans. I never bothered with Gabo's level since his strength can catch up. I was completely bumbed about Kiefer not joining the team anymore just to protect Layla. I made the Hero strongest, but Maribel strongly in second. =D

no, the only real difference between Dragon Quest 8's battle system & 1-7's is you see your characters in the battle & you can choose which enemy in a group to attack. other then that it's been the same in all games. I can't speak for 9 since I haven't played it yet.

Not really. It's actually quite interesting story and if you get bored while fighting you can talk to your characters for advice and their opinions.

Anyways I love this game. It has to be one of my highest spent hours with a game recorded ever. Persona 3 came close. But I spent upwards up 150hrs with Dragon Warrior/Quest VII.

What a thrill this game was.

Indeed. I put about 125+ into it, beating both bonus dungeons and recruiting God. However I could probably pop in another 100+ if I wanted to master all the classes and capture all the monsters. I won't be doing that anytime soon though lol.

Yea wtf. Dragon Quest V is fantastic, played it years ago. Dragon Warrior IV is awesome too.

But that DS version *shudders* why did they have to give every single townsperson a dialect? It is just so un-needed. And since it isn't voiced (at least in VIII, Yangus had a lot of voiced text).

It just seemed like a joke release for the people who were waiting for that PSX remake. Here's hoping the first domestic release of V ever is actually good.

And the DS remake was fine. Sure, a lot of things could have been taken out or changed, but it isn't bad. I thought it was a good way to introduce people to Dragon Quest before it got popular. And giving towns people dialect? How is that un-needed? It gives the town a bit more life to it. I don't understand your dislike for the game. And why do we need voice acting? From what I saw, none of the Dragon Quests before 8 had voices.

ha I get kinda angry about that stuff, but that was a old comment. Anyways I didn't think the dialects were necessary because reading them they sound awkward and just confusing at times. The reason why I brought up voice acting in VIII was at least Yagnus' dialect was at least voiced so it made more natural sounding.

I of course didn't need the voice acting, but it at least made his character more interesting, as opposed to just reading his dialect.

I have no clue why Orgodemir started out as a monster, turned into a demon in a suit, and then tried to become a monster again, only to melt. It makes no sense.

Well, according to leading Powerologists,the more control a creature has over it's powers, the more it's body goes humanoid. As such, we can see here that Orgodemir's first form is him just attacking(He thinks he can just attack blindly and win), his second form is when he starts focusing. His third form is him releasing his rage with little concern for control, and his last form is a last ditch attempt as he begins to completely lose control of his powers.

@TheHelldragon I think the first monster form is his default form, and he has to revert to his human-like form to become even more powerful. He's like Frieza, except Frieza has to turn into a monstrous form before becoming perfect. I think the reason he melts is because he's about to die.

@TheHelldragon It's because Orgodemir was a monster, but then realized that his monstrous appearance frightened small children. He tried to turn into something less creepy, but only made it worse. So he tried to turn back, only to realize he was made of ice cream and the flames all around him were melting him. Obviously.

I actually had a very rough time with orgodemir. I had my hero use farewell when his hp was low to keep the party alive. he was the only one i had with ultra hit at the time. My personal gameplay is to not overlevel or be all the best stuff when I face the final boss. To me it makes it too easy. Still, nice job with all you had.
