No, it doesn't have a CD drive. I think you'd be much better off with a netbook than this - it's very hard to enter text on without having a real keyboard.
Prices change all the time - and I don't have some sort of God-like knowledge that allows me to understand the prices of every gadget everyplace in the world. Do your own research and you'll get the best answer. :-)
I have replaced my laptop cpu in 2 of my dellxps gaming laptops in the past. What is the highest speed processor/cpu that the motherboard can handle ?
Can the processor/cpu be upgraded?
That is,if I were to buy one on Ebay and install it myself.
I have seen some videos of a couple of other 'Youtubers' taking apart and upgrading the memory and hard drives, I figure you must be able to upgrade the cpu.
You'd have to find someone that has taken it apart - I tried to take it apart to upgrade the RAM but it's a very risky proposition...I nearly cracked the plastic shell a few times, so I gave up because even with 2 GB of RAM I probably still wouldn't find a use for this. Upgrading CPUs in laptops is dicey and I don't recommend it to anyone, but since you've done it before, go for it and let me know how it works. ;-)
2, How easy would it be to remove vista and install XP or linux? And if it is easy would the onboard wifi work? Or would i need to search around for drivers that could be difficult to find for it.
The keyboard is pretty bad - I've never been able to get used to it. Installing XP would be possible, but you'd have to hunt down drivers for it - that might not be too hard given that there are some XP-based models of the Q1, but it would still be a fair amount of work.
Some versions of the Q1 Ultra have wireless data cards on them, allowing them to get onto the cellular data network. My version did not have this feature.
You have to build a Web site, build up credibility in the industry, attract readers, go to conferences, make contacts, etc. It's like starting up any other business.
Looks cheap. Shouldn't be called a UMPC because it's the size of my netbook. A real UMPC is like the Viliv N5

Sorry if its a stupid question, im not good with technology.

Did you watch the video? It's not a phone. It's not a netbook, but it's close to them - it's an UMPC or "Ultra Mobile PC".

It has a SIM card slot?
ShyRobot 2 years ago
I don't think this model does, though I believe Samsung offers some versions of the Q1 with a SIM slot. You'd have to do your own research on that.

The Ultra Premium has a SIM slot for 3G I think.

2 questions.
1, How good/bad is the keyboard? it looks awkward
2, How easy would it be to remove vista and install XP or linux? And if it is easy would the onboard wifi work? Or would i need to search around for drivers that could be difficult to find for it.

lanyard? haha, almost definitely for a wrist strap so when you're using it in public someone can't just snatch it out of your hands.

One man's "wrist strap" is another man's "lanyard". ;-) (Yeah, I figured out the wrist strap when I started using it)

I'm not sure - I'm not very familiar with past versions of the Q1. But I don't see how they could have put anything SLOWER in there previously...
