  • Wheres the blood?

  • watch Heart Of America is based off columbine its good

  • @trajic76 Well, I would like to respectfully disagree.

  • who is amanda

  • @megagangster321

What do you mean? She is a fictional character created for the film, she's not based on anyone, but the idea is to imagine that the Columbine killers had been a boy and a girl instead of two boys.

  • @Windurin if they were boy and girl it probably wouldnt of happened... because he was getting some....

  • @suicidesucks08 No there were incidents with a male and female companionship involved in murder. Not just Bony and Clyde, but school shooters too.

  • This is beautiful. No at all in the sense of "they were heroes" and all that bullshit. This is just a very artistic way of showing what these people sometimes feel. Before they do it, as they're doing it, why they're doing it. Very well done.

  • 8:00 Damn, the fucking scared me more than a screamer. lol

  • what?

  • ok idea but the sound was not too good

  • I like seeing how they may have felt leading up to NBK. Yeah we seen all the remakes through Elephant, Zero Hour, and countless others of the aftermath. This is the first time we actually get to see how they must have felt (though I wasn't too fond of the change out of a female character to play the role of Dylan Klebold. But as for Eric Harris he shared a lot of my same views on the school school life. We differ in how we solves those "problems" mainly due to the medication he was taking.

  • GEEZ! the part were the girl blew the flame out & the gun shot came scared me!

  • @selenademigl17 ME TOO

  • i dont get this movie... is this supposed to be home videos

  • @thisphotoisproof

Only the bits in Part 1 where they talk directly to the camera are meant to be home videos. The rest is just a normal film narrative.

  • THIS IS SICK!!!! WHY DID YOU MAKE THIS VIDEO OF "AN INSPIRATION" THIS IS NO INSPIRATION!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED AT COLUMBINE!!!! I SUGGEST THAT YOU TAKE THIS VIDEO OFF BECAUSE THE ACTUAL STUDENTS THAT WATCH THIS WILL ALSO BE SICKENED BY THIS

  • actually your showing of a reason for the shooting was accurate, as some may know the kids that actually did the shooting were at the bottom of the social ladder

  • This is a very interesting piece, well-crafted and performed, and which is very thought-provoking. Thanks for sharing it, I was really impressed.

  • @RoonJazz

Thank you for you comment. Glad you liked it.

  • How come part 1 has more views?

To the people who made it: I liked it and how it relates to The Columbine Massacre, but at points it's to quiet and it's not really suspenseful, just really quiet for the lack of background music or dialogue.

At the end I like it though, and almost expected a body to kind of bloodily smash into the door as the film ends.

Good video though, what grade did you get? I haven't seen anyone ask lol.

  • @cannotstopme666

Thanks for your comments. Part 1 has more views because I guess only about a third of the people who watched Part 1 wanted to stick with it and see Part 2.

I understand that the lingering on mundane events to build suspense goes on for too long in some cases, even by Gus Van Sant standards lol. Even we find it hard to watch now and in hindsight wouldn't have done overkill on those kind of scenes.

We had a B grade for the film. Thanks for asking.

  • @Windurin When I read the info thing about how the bathroom thing would've caused panic, you could've ended it like that it would have been awesome! Someone walks in, they gasp and the screen goes black and you hear a few Glock 17 rounds go off.

Oh and last question (probably), when you sent the video to festivals how did it do?

  • @cannotstopme666

Well, that certainly would have made for an interesting ending, but I'm sure it would have got us expelled and possibly arrested as well!

It was mostly shown at UK festivals and it didn't win anything, but it did also get shown at the San Francisco Short Film Festival, which is pretty cool.

  • wtf..you people are arguing about whether the massacres count because there not in america..that disgust me at the end of the day people die in these shootings it doesnt matter if there in america or russia or britain were ALL human..have some respect people...

  • this is way worse than elephant

  • I waited till the end because I was curious how you were going to recreate a school shooting and get approval from administrators. But alas it was done tastefully :)

  • also if at some point i take the time to make a, columbine film, ill be sure to let you have the first bite. it will have to much emotion and deepth the whole enchilada including hot actresses, crazy cammra angles, and a good script. im postive your only reserch was from two movies, wikipdia, 5 mins on google and then you added a girl and called it a film. yea its "inspired" and not fact for fact, but the way you put it together is low quality, like a cheap zombie movie stick to those bro FAIL

  • long story short, if you care about making a film, in any sence, you might want skim over the easy and the cliche. Go to the heart of the matter and inspire, rather than re-creating what inspired you. idk maybe because your english, i'v seen BBC and it's a lot diffrent from american media.(more your style) Anyway, im so quick and passinate because this film " subscribe(s) to the notion that Eric and Dylan were simply misunderstood 'emos'" and that is not who men that kill 13 people are like

  • This is awesome. I like how the characters are male and female for a change too.

  • I do not, and will never, subscribe to the notion that Eric and Dylan were simply misunderstood 'emos', nor for that matter those that show an interest in the event if that's also what you were implying.

  • The 'fat chick' is my cousin and childish digs like that take away any credibility and respect you might have gained with the first part of your argument. Honestly, really? You went there after all those fairly mature, balanced opinions? The clothes were her choice and she deserves far more respect than you for tackling such a challenging role. Don't talk to me about 'being deep' and then knock down your tower of self-importance with such a shallow, cuntish comment like that.

  • I watched your own videos and honestly, some of the camera work is really good, so why not use your talents elsewhere and do what you think I couldn't and make a 'deep, emotional' film that shows Eric ad Dylan how you think they deserve to be shown? I'm asking you to do not as a challenge, but because I'm genuinely interested in why you are so quick to passionately defend two young men who - and this, my friend IS a fact - murdered 13 people in cold blood.

  • I think the angle you went for was way off from any real columbine emotion. The boy girl mix up was unique but takes away from authenticity and the pregnancies scene was unbearable. I also noticed scenes and camera angles are nearly identical to "elephant" and "zero day," way to be original. I had high hope for this film but it really is total garbage, and I’m so glad it only took 15 mins of my life and not an hour. I mean it’s not like you can try and portray a human being

  • without doing a little more research than Wikipedia, you made the portals of Dylan and Eric look ignorant and like pansy little emos. Please don’t make any film you think might be deep, for judging from this they won’t be and really add insult to injury. One question who’s Idea was it to dress the fat chick up in tight revealing clothing, if you’re a director why on earth would you let her wear that, shoulda put her in a trench coat at least would have been more authentic

  • anyway. Im sure you get the idea of what im saying

    -haters gonna hate

  • @hufhead

Hi. Thanks for your comments and welcome to the internet.

To say that the 'angle was way off any real Columbine emotion' is your subjective opinion, so please don't state it as if it's a fact. I'm sorry you didn't feel that it had any emotion, but others did and for me, the idea is an emotional concept, regardless of 'accuracy'.

  • Which brings me to another point: either you misread and misunderstood the concept behind this film as being an ALTERNATE take on the Columbine shooting - any 'inaccuracies' you cite are not in fact inaccuracies but deliberate deviations from the facts of the real events for the purpose of creating a film that MIXED fact and fiction - as our project brief for the film outlined.

  • The references to 'Zero Day' and 'Elephant' were also deliberate homages, and were highlighted as such in our Q&A after the film's showing at film school. Trying to be 'original' in the timeframe of 15 minutes - especially with all the baggage that such a subject brings with it - polluted opinions and all - is more difficult than I think you care to appreciate.

  • Your suggestion that my research was confined to the digital wasteland of Wikipedia is complete nonsense and clearly it's an avenue you have researched yourself since you're such an expert on its reliability. • That was great!!

  • 2:42 What is that?

  • @DarthKieduss43

A pregnancy test strip. It reads Positive.

  • @Windurin That's the weirdest pregnancy test I've ever seen.

  • Kind of messed up man. But you're showing people the truth.

  • I've been seeing alot of films based around this event recently and well i gotta say very well made (Y) ****

  • @EraserDudeFilms

Thanks for the comment and the favourite. I've subbed you.

    Thanks for watching,

  • great work!

  • looks good, ima watch it later

  • I like the film, the only thing that didn't make this movie a 10/10 was the lack of gore at the end and actual witnessing of the shooting. That would have been awesome. :( good movie though!

  • @th3planetsghost didnt he say it was for a school project. it would be hard to get away with gore.

  • @juggalo9912

Actually, it was a conscious decision not to show the actual shooting, this was always meant to be more of a film about the build-up to the shooting. We would have been allowed to show gore, there were no real limits to what we could have in our films, so long as they were within normal film guidelines, etc, even if it would have been the equivalent of an 18 UK rating.

  • @Windurin shoulda had the gore... :(

  • Jeez.. impressive work.. very well done. I

"By pure coincidence, the film was shot on April 20th, 2006 - exactly 7 years after the actual Columbine Shooting..."

    Wow.. that's just scary..

  • @Qlaarzy1

Yep. We didn't even realise until we were editing...

  • Comment removed

  • Okay. Watched it and most of the time it was like mixing of Zero day and Elephant (Zero day for using that kind of camera-technic, also there were parts which were almost like straight from ZD). For some reason it doesn't work with girl and boy, there should be two boys.... Or then there were some kind of problem with actors since it just didn't feel right. Most intresting part was first scene, watching Eric's drawings. And ending was pretty good too. Trust more yourself, don't just make copy >

  • of something someone has already done.

Still, it was one of the best ones from shortmovie-scene. Next time, try to be more original, because obviously you can do good job, you just need better idea of what you are doing.

  • Was really confusing.....what did one of the boys love the other??and at the end with the gun shots was that acting or the real recording??

  • @emmajane030987

Er... it was a boy and a girl, David and Amanda. The girl Amanda loved David and that's the only reason she went through with the shooting, and she never told him that she was pregnant with his baby. It's an alternate take on the Columbine shooting, imagining what it would have been like if the killers were a male and female couple as opposed to two male friends.

The gun shots and shouting at the end isn't real, it's just acting and sound effects.

  • i like it. it really is compelling for a student made film. film is something i hope to get into in college

  • @estbassist16

Thanks for the comments. Good luck with your films if you go into film at college.

  • hey what was he screaming at the end i couldnt quite here him it sounded like kill yourself but idk..

  • He's saying:

"Look what you've fucking done to yourself, this is how you fucking deserve it, I will fucking kill you!"

"Now, if I tell you to jump you will jump, if I tell you to run you will run, if I tell you to FUCKING CRAWL you will crawl!"

"You ready for this? Countdown's on three, come on I fucking dare you, I'll count down for you, you fucking whore! 3 ... (click) ... 2 ... (click) ... 1 ... (bang!)"

  • Very well made.

    +5

  • oh and dear god i am in love with whoever the actor is. he reminds me of michael pit

    <3

  • oh my gosh. at 8:00 my stomach dropped.

  • i read now all the comments here and i just want to say one again...eric and dylan are not monsters...dont see it so easy like that.and they do it not because of any movie or game or book or stuff like that...this was a idiotic theory!we must questioning why they two boys became to this part when they started to plan the shooting.how can we bullieed others, how can we keep them out of groups and fun things ,lought about them ...just respect everybody for a individull person please!!!

  • @ciscohorselady People will never learn to respect others. (fact) People inject misery to others just because they can and they will. It is a shame that we are living in a pain of world. Reb + Vodka are the shadow of the oppressive society!

  • @ciscohorselady it doesnt matter they killed 13 people and they were innocent!

  • @ciscohorselady

ur right they arent monsters, they just murdered people for fun, most of which didnt do a thing to them, your right, not a monster at all

  • @BvilleStormChaser Of course they were monsters. Me too!

  • @ciscohorselady they are murderers. 17 & 18 year olds that carry illegal weapons into a highschool & shoot & kill 13 people & injure/paralyze 23. and you believe they are not monsters?? they planned this for 12 months! all on what? the basis of bullying?? which actually is not 100% true. Eric Harris had mental problems long before this incident & he said it himself he loves to HATE, he loves to KILL. Dylan Klebold was depressed and shared the same rage against humanity. this was murder.

  • @BMTH1ETF So Eric and Dylan didnt have a cup of fecal matter thrown at them? They were obviouly disturbed but managing... then the bullying and feelings of little self-worth pushed them to the edge .... this is why you dont fuck with people... you never know their next step could be the edge... so dont test it or you just might have to find out the hard way...

  • @suicidesucks08 bulllying played a part but wasnt the real reason why they did the things they did. they kept journals, and drawings and theres essays they did for school al that you can find on a website. if you read them like i did you would knnow that they didnt just hate the bullying, they hated EVERYTHING. even the dumbest things like commercials where dylan ranted for like 2 paragraphs on how much he hated them. they hated the world,

  • @BMTH1ETF I've read everything ... bullying was just the icing on the cake... u think?

  • @suicidesucks08 bullying can really mess someone up, can make them feel like shit & hate themselves. but for the most part, dylan & eric expressed through their writiing that they thought they were better than everyone. that the word was full of idiots and self indulgent egotistical morons (their kind of right too ) they wanted to make a difference. & a statement. bullying in my opinion only played the role of giving them a more abstract/real negative view of the world.

  • hell...this movie was great and hard to watch!i am verry interested of columbine special eric harris and dylan klebold...i read a lot of books see a lot of videos, dokumentations, movies and all i can find about them...and i am shure that eric had a lot of anger inside his mind but he has two personalytis inside his person...and dylan ,he was verry deppressiv, feeling smal like hes nobody and noone liked him for what he was...

  • Well, there's that, plus, Dylan was part Jewish, and at one point I think Eric would have turned on him for that. There's a rumor going around that Eric shot Dylan before killing himself.

  • This is just... You know, I find a lot of similarities between myself and Eric and Dylan... and Dylan and I have the same birthday... Thanks for making this, it's very good.

  • I appreciate the comments. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I agree about Dylan possibly being less motivated to go through with the shooting, which is a theme of this film. The girl Amanda represents Dylan.

  • Really nice movie.. and the sound at the end is so good.. its like hearing it down the hallway, and im just using my laptop speakers.. Great..

  • Thanks for the comments.

  • why would anybody think dylon and eric are heros i mean they killed 13 people and i dont give a fuck about what anyone says lord is rigth they are worthless

  • my bad sorry for the thumbs down, thought i saw "wouldn't" instead of "would."

  • very few instances of girls doing this - but great interpretation. well done.

  • @LoomVideos In fact none in the US history so far! Bath bombing

  • @zerobinary2 Not true - Brenda Spencer!! She inspired the song "I dont like Mondays" - after the rifle her father gave her for christmas was used by her out of her bedroom window to shoot children at the school opposite her house. Look her up.

  • @LoomVideos I guess she is one scary bitch. Good thing she is not my gf. Imagine if you break up witht her LOL

By the way check out bath bombing! Bath bombing is still the record holder

  • @zerobinary2 nope its the Beslan school hostage crisis

  • @RoblesIsaiah That's in Russia so it does not count!

  • @zerobinary2 yea it does ur just denying the fact that beslan is worse than bath bombing

  • @RoblesIsaiah No body cares about stuff outside of North America!

  • @zerobinary2 bath bombing is not a shooting its a bombing, were talking about shootings

  • @zerobinary2

FACEPALM....so about 95% of the world´s population is UNIMPORTANT to you?

Still wondering why everyone hates Americans like you?

  • Awesome!

You all did such a good job.

Dylan and Eric would be proud. :)

  • Your a fucking idiot for giving a damn what those two fucks would be proud of.

  • Umm...

    Thats your narrow minded opinion.

  • Why is it narrow minded to have a problem with two idiotic killers who could not take reality so they felt the need to murder 13 people? They only made one mistake. They should have started the killing with themselves. Only stupid worthless people kill themselves anyway.

  • Woww!

How can you sit here and even say that people who commit suicide are stupid and worthless?

And its narrow minded because your not looking at it from Dylan and Eric's point of view.

  • If you are stupid enough to kill yourself then you were worthless from the get go and you are proving it to everyone. Here is me looking at it from their point of view. They were lonely depressed people who were not strong enough to make it through life so they became stupid enough to kill themselves because they were worthless. Hell they thought killing themselves was part of natural selection when that goes against the concept 100%.

  • and they were to stupid to understand that.

  • Okaaay. It was okay, but I don't think you should have linked it any way with Columbine, even if it is disclaimed as being only 'loosely based'. It should've been made just in your own vision using original materials, because when it's claimed that a work is loosely based around actual events, you should always presume that your audience will expect to see the work made to the same standard all the way through, and will compare everything to the true events.

  • I love the part where David writes " I wont be home tonight".. Nice idea ^^

  • All controversial media will inspire negative reactions, but I don't think you have much credability to be so venomous without elaborating. For me, it wasn't pointless, it helped me to deal with a controversial social issue I feel strongly about. It's posted here to help others who feel the same way. It's a film with an objective viewpoint and so it's up to the viewer to decide how they feel about it. So, I respect your opinion and I won't delete it for that reason, I just don't agree with it.

  • But what was the issue this is very differnt from the real columbine tragedy. what does this video mean, more importantly what is it saying?

  • Firstly, it says it was LOOSELY based on the Columbine shooting, in that it shows a twisted relationship that culminates in a tragic school shooting, but with a girl in the place of the Dylan role. The film isn't trying to 'say' anything by forcing a message down the audience throats, it steps back and just shows it as it is, hence the term 'objective viewpoint'. The film 'Elephant' that we were inspired by used the same technique and was criticised by some for the same reason: no forced message

  • thanks foe explaining im sorry about my previous comments.

  • No problem. Putting any video on here, especially creative media, you always have to be ready for negative comments as well as positive ones, and I encourage and value constructive criticism.

I just wanted you to elaborate more, but I think we understand each other now.

  • Amazing film.

    Good Job

  • excellent film! i loved it... thnx for uploading it

    :)

  • Thanks for the Comment, Rating and Favourite :)

  • i live and have grown up no more then a mile away from columbine and all i have to say is that its shit like this that fuel kids like that to creat evil like thos two monster did that day......

  • Are you actually suggesting that this film will influence kids to go and carry out a school shooting? How is it that I've watched many films and read many articles and books on the subject of school shootings and I don't want to go out and shoot up a school? It's because I'm not mentally damaged, I just have a healthy fascination with a subject that horrifies and disturbs me.

That's why I wanted to make a film about the subject: to DETER such acts, not to influence them.

  • really? kinda like how games and movies didnt influnce them in any way right? and a healthy fascination, the is no healthy fascination with columbine like issues. you just dont get it you dont live here you dont know the familys and see the pain that thos monsters have caused my city of littleton. and i would really like to hear about how this short film would deter some one from doing somthing like that -Tyler

  • Tyler, what I don't understand is that you waste your time questioning and complaining about this video. It isn't a video such as this that makes people do bad things. You should be questioning how these kids weren't stopped before the shooting with their previous history, how they got guns so easily, etc. Not a video. I'm sure nobody is going to shoot another individual and say, "I saw it on youtube"

  • Yes, you put it exactly right. Films and games did NOT influence Eric and Dylan's final decisions. It's another bullshit theory that is a by-product of a biased media. I'm sorry, but anyone who believes any film or game single-handedly pushed them to do what they did is both impressionable and naive. I may not feel as personally connected to the event as you, but make no mistake: it DOES haunt me, ir DOES disgust me, and it DOES upset me.

Thanks to michael below who has made a very valid point.

  • And the reason it should deter such acts is because there is clearly no happy resolution for anyone in this. David is manipulative and suicidal, and Amanda feels forced to go through with the shooting, despite finding out she is pregant with David's baby, which she never tells him about. How would any of that be 'desirable' or appealing to anyone? I chose to neither portray them as monsters nor angels, it's an objective view of their world, tragic for its consequences and its inevitablility.

  • Love it! very good job.
