Everyone born before 1991 was a communist. Sure, communist legacy does hurt Putin's chance of election, but it also hurts everyone else's. If I had a choice between Putin and another reasonable candidate who was never a commie, I'd vote for the other guy. But there is none and will not be for many years.

We didn't elect Bush in 2000. He stole Florida, and the Supreme Court made him president. On top of this Al Gore actually won the popular vote. What a stellar example of democracy. And lest you think I am just a bitter about the 2000 election, I actually voted for Bush.

I understand that Electoral College made sence in 19 century due to logistical reasons, but Right now the onely purpose it serves is keeping power in hands of 2 parties, preventing the rest from ever rising.
Russia was criticised for 7% barrier in elections, but in USA it is 50%!

Riiight... and how will being passive with Russia is going to destroy USA? Last time I checked, there is a whole freaking atlantic ocean. And there are things called nukes, which both Russia and USA have more than enough to end human life once and for all.
And don't worry about Europe. EU outnumberes Russia in population 3-to-1 and has stronger economy. This translates to greater military force.

As for the democratic opposition, the US media fails to note the fact that the this is led by the National Bolshevik Party, led Eduard Lemonov who is racist and a fascist. i am half russian i can understand it pretty well my mom speaks it but i cant read/write in it. i watched russian news a couple of times and there's a lot of propaganda in it, seriously, and there is virtually no criticism of putin. there is some, but it's merely symbolic and united russia dominates the debates, thats why putin+united russia have very high ratings.
