Isn't time a wonderful thing...it reveals the truth, as in this case, Barton was 100% correct - BP got "shaken down". Odd considering BP not for a moment ever indicated they wouldn't do the right thing, but the White House had do show everyone what a big schlong it had and act real tough. Hmmm, typical worthless libtards - "never let a crisis go to waste," right?
@guyfroml You don't seem to understand the magnitude of the assholishness of Barton's comments. He apologized and expressed deep sympathy to a CEO and oil company for the White House urging them to voluntarily set up a compensation fund after having just wreaked havoc on the environment and fucked up thousands of people's lives. If Obama didn't do anything, idiots like you would have been criticizing him for that instead. So shut the hole on your face.
The leak could have been stopped weeks in advance if they had used his head to plug the hole. Than forced his inbred redneck families to hard labor clean up of the beaches lol. I am running for election and bring back the Guillotine and public hanging...
It makes me sick to constantly see the authorities excuse what they call "SAFETY ISSUES" all the time as long as the o'mighty dollar is handed out. Its like an Officer doing 100MPH on the highway to catch up to anyone who MAY be speeding, though the posted limit is for safety of the citizens, its OK for the officer to endanger others in their attempt to ticket speed abusers. Then when he gets the ticket its a $300 fine to make everything OK again. "The love of money is the root of all evil"
Need I remind you that BP was fined over 700 Million dollars in CRIMINAL penalties not CIVIL penalties, when they built their rig, yet the greedy Gov. Agency in charge said give us money money money and the problem goes away. They knew the problem could exist but said NO WORRIES on fixing the issues, so long as you fill the agencies pockets with the good stuff. We are partially responsible for this and YES our tax dollars should help, they help EVERYWHERE else.
I wonder if any of those affected adversely by the oil spill tragedy voted for Bush/Cheny and/or Barton. I wonder if they're smart enough to put it all together. Don't they realize the republicans are in the corporations back pockets and the American people mean nothing to them? I've lost my faith in the American voting public. This is a tragedy.
So the cost of the clean up should be sent to the american taxpayers. BP should not be accountable for the destruction of the Gulf coast and the people that make a living out there. Corrupt republican douchebags
The people are tired of you right wing bastards lining your pockets with big business dollars at the expense of the well being of the rest of us.
This Companies practices killed 11 workers and countless wildlife and inhabitants of the gulf. Not to mention how many working families it has put on the soup line.
I'm ashamed. I'm ashamed to share my genus and species with this Barton creature!
Screw the 20 billion! BP has killed so much land, water and biology, and animals that it makes Barton's shame a moot point! Screw him and his evil republican point of view. Money is nothing when you don't have your health, and our mother earth, who people like him just take for granted is very ill!
Barton is right. BP's contractual obligations capped at $75M. BP voluntarily promised to pay whatever it took. They are a great company and everyone in government is treating them horribly. WE knew they were there, WE knew the risks, the people that live near the ocean or run fisheries knew there were 100's of oil platforms in the gulf. So WE'RE ALL jointly responsible. If the Gulf is so precious and important, then why act like we don't know companies are performing dangerous acts in the water

Barton is correct, even if unpopular. What Obama did was wrong, the same way it is wrong to lynch someone without a trial. The law and the constitution should mean something, and if they are deficient they should be changed. Resorting to thuggery and bullying should be reserved for dictators and has no place in the US. Obama is a master at destroying corporations and prosperity... at rallying people and organizing communities to tear down companies and make life worse for everyone involved.
@siclos what you dont get is that Anadarko BP's own partners have said they were wrong(and it is a far smaller company than BP and could dissolve because of this), you have sworn testimonies from the workers on the Oil rig who said they cut corners.
/
Barton isnt right, 20 Billion will not pay for this, so how is it even a shackdown. And why would we apologize to Barton ?
@siclos Hayward is the CEO of BP and when something goes wrong he gets blaimed for it regardless of it was his fault or not. Just like Obama gets the blame for a bad economy even though it is vastly improved from when he took office.
Look at the outrageous add on the side of this video (not sure if it appeared when you swa this). It shows Obama looking down with his chin up (an arrogant look saying "I am the master" or something like that) and the words "BP Spill.../... Blame Obama?.../... Vote Here Now". Judging from this website's selection of this specific photo, they are obviously against Obama. They are manipulating (with the photo, media) people's thoughts about one person. They should remain neutral! Shame on them!
well lets wait for Fox to make us understand what he was "really" trying to say. its only a matter of time til the tea party and the "palin-ites" translate Rep. Barton statement. And remember America...our president is still black lets not shift our attention to this oil thingy...

@dsjj251..go fuck yourself you progressive fuck.Osama's agenda is to destroy this country, you're too fucking ignorant to see it. I'm a bigot? O.K., go suck your nigger president's cock, bitch.
@larsjake I guess in your warped little lib mind there is some kind of analogy there, I fail to see it ....I would imagine however, a similar analogy would be this.. If we elect a socialist, community organizer, jr senator, Muslim that hates America as president of the US..we can expect business to prosper with a increase of jobs ,commerce and prosper..Let me ask you a question.. If I take a 45 ACP and empty the 10 rounds between your eyes, would you know you were dead before hitting the ground ?
It is official. You are a complete fucking lunatic. This is the second video I have seen you on, and it is the hundredth time I've seen you spout the GOP anti-obama bible. You call him a Muslim. Prove it. You say he hates America, Prove it. Otherwise, shut the fuck up kid.
@No1Rides4Free I am not liberal, you fox news mongoloids just assume those who don't seig heil glenn beck are liberal. If you empty the clip on me I would expect proper legal action to be taken. And I wouldn't personally care as I would be dead. You be careful who you call liberal, my muslim friend. I thought Islam was a religion of peace, yet you threaten violence when you cannot mentally handle a discussion. hmmm. Have a nice day my muslim friend.
@larsjake I'LL TELL YOU THIS YOU OBAMA COCK SUCKING ,MUSLIN,LIBERAL BASTARD... IF YOU CALL RAPING CHILDREN A "DISCUSSION" YOU CAN KISS MY AMERICAN 45 COLT RIGHT ON THE LIPS..20 OR 40 TIMES... YOU TALK ABOUT RAPING ONES CHILDREN AND WANNA PLAY GAMES .....BRING YOUR SILLY LIBERAL ASS TO DALLAS TEXAS..WE'LL DAMNED SURE HAVE A LITTLE DISCUSSION..IT WILL LAST AS LONG AS I HAVE 150 GRAIN BULLETS TO PUMP INTO YOUR GOOFY LIBERAL ASS !...BRING IT YOU SILLY LIBERAL MUSLIM LOVIN BASTARD.....BRING IT !!
@No1Rides4Free What in the world are you talking about? i don't like muslin(it is a very stiff cloth). I voted for McCain and do not care for obama at all. My analogy is relevant and correct. If it upsets you than you might have some repressed sexual issues as you took it literally instead of as a comparison. You muslims need to watch your violent attitudes. You should go to yur mosque and pray top allh. Maybe it will calm you down my muslim friend. God bless.
@No1Rides4Free Also, again, I am not liberal. Why don't you lay off the oxycontin and whiskey for a minute and grow a brain. What kind of colt by the way? I have a nice collection myself.
@No1Rides4Free I just thought of something. If you are muslim, why do you live in texas? Wouldn't you be more comfortable in Massachusetts or Iran? Just a thought.
@No1Rides4Free I have a nice original colt navy .44 caliber from 1862 and a .36 caliber army remington 1861. (percussion....it is the little caps that go on the nipple to ignite the powder. I'm sure you know that much). I also have a 1914 colt pistol. VERY sweet. What kind of weapons are you muslims allowed to use?
@No1Rides4Free Just so everyone knows, No1Rides4Free is a muslim, and is trying to incite a jihaad against christians. HE wants to destroy our country and his hero is HOLLYWOOD. Beware this taliban sleeper.
This is a shakedown. BP is at fault for this, and that fact won't change. That said,Obama and his cronies see nothing but money here. $20 billion to be exact, and that is just the start. Don't pull those pants up yet BP, because MR. Nigga isn't done with you. What a fucking travesty this is. 13 countries offered help to combat this, and our government said"no".Read between the lines, folks. This is a cash cow for an other wise broke government.Keep 'em down BP, and keep the vaseline.out.
you are a stupid motherfucker. 20 Billion doesnt even cover the loss for this year. and Idk where your bigoted ass got 13 countries from, because the US has accepted help from 20 countires
Since when is BP a private corporation? All you independents that have been buying into the Repuke bullshit and are thinking of voting for them, you better get your heads screwed on straight. This is what you'll get every time. They did the same thing with the bank bailouts. They bashed Obama for giving the banks the money, then they bashed him for making the banks pay it back. Republicans think we're here to serve their corporate masters. At least the Dems throw us a bone once & awhile.
hmmmm i don't care if your democrat or republican...barton has just made his loyalty clear and its NOT to america, please wake up texas and rid us of this jackass
@CrowdPleeza As far as I can tell Barton's only reinforcing the truth. Minority leader Boehner was for American taxpayers helping to pay for BP's Gulf disaster before he was against it, and Dick Armey believes the Americans who've been put out of business by it should spend the next couple of decades suing BP. The desire to protect big business at the expense of Americans is rife on the right, and anyone who's been paying attention for the last few decades knows it.
I AGREE WITH BARTON !!.. THIS IS NOTHING BUT POLITICAL GRANDSTANDING BY INEPT MEN OF THE 1ST DEGREE!!...THIS COMITY AND GOVERNMENT LIBERAL CONGRESSMAN AND SENATORS STOLE 862 BILLION FROM THE AMERICAN PUBLIC IN BROAD DAYLIGHT AND RIGHT UNDER OUR NOSES.. B.P. MAKES A MISTAKE,,WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE REGULATED BY "THEM" AND YOU LIBERAL IDIOTS SAY NOTHING !!..WHAT REASON ,AFTER THIS COMPANY HAS SHOWN RESPONSIBILITY, WOULD THIS MEETING EVEN NEED TO HAPPEN?!..PURE WASHINGTON GRANDSTANDING BULLSHIT !!
@No1Rides4Free yea i see you drive a SUV that takes 12 gals to the mile you know its ppl like you that makes us wonder if there is any reliable american in this country B.P is responsible for everything they take on two other companies to make a well for oil these companies wanna get it in a hurry so one of the companies takes a shortcut one that cost them billions of dollars and for some reason you are willing to pay for there mess you taxpaying idiot wanna stick up for BP and pay for the mess
@No1Rides4Free BP made their mistake now they got to pay its and its great Obama kicked them in the balls to make them cough up 20 billion this is for the wildlife and the residents of the gulf who lost there biz from not getting shrimp for the ppl who risked there lives when the chemical spray hit them and got them sick i think BP should pay it all make them go broke and if you hate this comment reply then ur just like barton with BP dick down your throat and ur nose up their asses
You should be ashamed of yourself you moron. Look at you, you're a sell out. You have no voice of your own. You should go to hell and burn in the oil that put you where you are.
You should be ashamed of yourself you cocksucking piece of shit. Look at you, you're a sell out. You have no voice of your own. You should go to hell and burn in the oil that put you where you are.
Truth has it if republicans win in November he or another republican who loves the oil company's will run the energy sector in comities and the people may see no relief in fact we will probably pay tax like John Boehner wants less on the oil company that caused the mess and more on our backs as middle class. But fact is for now if republicans win in November this scum bag BP lover will be in charge of energy or one like him!!
I'm so mad I could scream! Our corrupt Government is going to impose a Carbon Tax on all of us Americans! Why not impose this carbon tax on the Big Oil companies, they're the ones profiting from it? They should never allow off shore drilling ever again, not as long as there is a major oil reserve right here in this country, North & South Dakota, Montana & Alaska! We have more here than all the world combined! These corrupt Congress people protecting these corps should be hung for treason!
Barton isn't special, most Congressional economic conservatives think the WH was out of line and feel bad for none other than poor old BP. Free market dipshits one and all. A few tears would have really capped it. "Leave BP ALOOOONE!!!"
OIL COMPANIES ARE NOT EVIL.... What would happen if Obama outlawed all drilling and all oil. Wow, would THAT fix the problem??? Oil companies account for a huge percentage of income for American people and Obama wants to help the American people by placing a moratorium on drilling which will put alot of Americans out of work, again! Supporters of the moratorim will say, YAY in the face of big oil at first, and then, oops we need money, when they realize that big oil was a major source of incm
@kingx989 "OIL COMPANIES ARE NOT EVIL" What does that have to do with anything? The moratorium is temporary -- those jobs will come back. The jobs taken out by BP's negligence will NEVER be coming back. What happened to the ecosystem would be the equivalent in the world of big oil of blowing up hundreds and hundreds of wells simultaneously. I can't say I'm surprised to see another right-winger defending negligent behavior, however -- it's second nature to you.
@tomanyasses Really? How do you know? Exxon for instance refuses to release their tax figures. And all the big oil companies, like major US corporations in general, offshore their profits so they pay as little as possible to Uncle Sam. They also claim foreign tax credits which means THE IRS SENDS THEM REFUNDS.
OTOH, Exxon spent $24.5 MILLION on lobbying last year. The other oil companies won't have squandered either, which no doubt helps to explain Barton's vile suck-up to BP.
@ismeme Exxon only made a 19 BILLION DOLLAR profit last year. It was a bad year for them. They didn't pay one dime to the IRS instead they got a 360 million dollar refund!!!!
@tomanyasses its true cause they pay taxes to drill, contain, transport
but did you know we pay most of the tax when we pump our cars for ever half gal we get taxed just like they do and if you add it all up we are paying as much as they are
@tomanyasses just add up the amount of taxes they charge you at the pump add it all up from jan to dec when you find the numbers in that you will see you could have saved more by switching to gieco or alter fuel by now
During his political career, the industries that have been Barton's largest contributors were oil and gas ($1.4 million donated) His largest corporate contributor, Anadarko Petroleum, owns a 25 percent share in the Macondo Prospect, the site of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
Appalled-The DNC put out a press release "blaming the victim" when the Dem Congressman assaulted him. What else would you expect from our organiser in chief? He will shake us all down sooner or later. Barton is right on this. Obama has no right under the law to do what he did. I will guarantee that at least 60 to 80% of that 20 BILLION will end up in the pockets of the lawyers, and Obama's cronies, which of course will come back to Obama and the Democrats for future campaigns.
Barton is an idiot for apologizing to a British Company CEO in our name - what do we as Americans have to apologize for anything related to the mess BP has caused. Getting them to set aside money to pay out claims is the least they can do so the Taxpayers aren't left holding the bag again for Corporate Greedsters.
You rednecks need to vote this tool out of office. He cares NOTHING about the people he represents or the United States. I'll bet odd's he's been lining his pockets with big oil money for years!
@justadbeer Well, the same can be said for Obama, who hasn't helped lower the record breaking unemployment rate since the great depression. If Obama cared for the coastal citizens of the U.S., he would NOT have place a rediculous moratorium on drilling. Trust me, he does NOT have your best interest in mind, only his own.
@kingx989 Really?...REALLY!? That's your best shot? What your doing is called deflecting. A common tactic used by the extreem right. But I'll bite. Lest we not forget who put us into this economic mess in the 1st place, & last I checked, the economy was taking a turn for the better nationally. A moritoriuom means "temporary". I think it makes more sense at the moment than "drill baby drill!" do I think oil co's are evil. No. But they do need to be held accountable.
You rednecks need to vote this tool out of office! He cares NOTHING about the people that he represents or the United States. I'l bet odd's he's been lining his pockets with big oil money for years.
@MrTouchShriek lets see i wonder why if you had bunch of space aliens say that what you said to them was an insult and they were going to kill you what would you do . if you had bunch of animals after you what would you do . lets see i know nothing
@tomanyasses Yeah right....99.9 % of the people on here thinK YOUR the dumb-ass for thinking Joe Barton is a hero. Don't believe me? lets taKe a vote.
WHO THINK THAT TOMANYASSES IS A DIPSHIT FOR THINKING BARTON IS A HERO?
@tomanyasses Well dip-shit, we're not talking abouts gods. We're talking about you being a small minority of morons that think Barton is right. I generally subscribe to the theory that if nine out of ten people thick your and A-hole...you probably are one.
And considering the GOP made that ass Barton apologize (which he snapped to and did like a good little right wing lackey), they knew he was wrong also. (pretty much like everyone on here.)
@tomanyasses When you whore yourself out for corporations to the extreme extent the Joe Barton's and Rush Limbaugh's of the world do, they should be held to what they say. If the average citizen did 1/1000th the damage to this country that BP is currently doing, they would be in JAIL!! As always, the GOP feels the pain of corporations losing profits, and the 11 people killed, the sea life lost, and the jobs lost are inconsequential. It's fucking sickening where rightwingers priorities are at!
I couldn't agree with you more when you talk about the right wing's priorities! Years ago, I used to be a Rush Limbaugh ditto head. After I got bored of him, I moved on to the harder stuff: Michael Savage. Then I started waking up, and I saw that these right wingers are just taking the country over a cliff with their insanity, and these comments from Barton are just more icing on the cake. This is why I'm now a former conservative!
"If you have woken up then you would see that both parties are rooted from the same greed seed."
Exactly! I've become very independent in my views. I generally vote for third parties. I wouldn't waste my vote on the two party system. The Republicrats are both corrupt and in bed with the special interests that own them.
@HNK222 UHHH.. EXCUSE ME...LET ME ASK YOU A COUPLE SIMPLE QUESTIONS NUM NUTS... DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH B.P. DONATED TO OBUMERS ELECTION CAMPAIGN ??.WHO DOES THE U.S. MINERALS MANAGEMENT WORK FOR ? ..I'LL ANSWER FOR YOU SINCE ITS OBVIOUS YOU'RE DUMB AS A FUCKIN FENCE POST.....1,000,000.00 IS WHAT B.P. PAID YOUR JUNGLE MONKEY TO GET HIS LAME, INCOMPETENT, ASS ELECTED..U.S. MINERALS MANAGEMENT WORKS FOR OBUMER..NOW..WHO APPROVED THE WELL ??...MINERALS MANAGEMENT DID..SO WHO IS JUST AS RESPONSIBLE??
@No1Rides4Free how about the Carlisle Group that both the Bush and Bin Laden family have ties to. Also James Baker, and former British Prime Minister John Major. The chairman group Frank Carlucci, is a former Secretary of Defense, and associate of Donald Rumsfeld.
@EmpathyWorks Here's another genius! Obama's making BP pay the US government, not the American people. If Obama really wanted to help those folks that are affected then he would lift that stupid moratorium and allow for some income. But he cares about making himself look like he's doing something rather than really doing something. Don't be a tard and think that Obama cares any more than republicans do.
@kingx989 There is no point in lifting the moratorium until the cause of the spill is determined, and the 30-yr old technology for handling spills is updated. Even BP's CEO agreed with that. If the oil companies really want to regain some cred they could continue paying their workers, seeing as the moratorium is a result of their obvious lack of good judgment!
This fucking Sarah Fail'n with a dried up penis, did not get the memo, to lie and act like you are fighting for the American people. Now it's on the RECORD, of what the Rabid Republicans really believe in. They forgot to turn on the "talk in code" switch, but put their ignorance right out there, just like queen of dingbats Sarah Fail'n This party has got Talibagger rot.
are you serious i want to know witch citizen of texas voted this guy in i mean really the president is trying to cover the residents of the gulf they are beating him over for lifting the ban on drilling in the gulf so if a spill like this happens its the companies who have to pay for their mess it cant always be us TAXPAYING citizens i mean we pay tax from fueling our cars why we need to pay to clean up there mess this guy from texas is showing no respect for the residents of the gulf.
@MClown69 ha if bush or mc cain had any say in it it would be that they would have set aside funds for the oil comapnies to just pay for the relief well to be built while us TAXPAYING shmos pay for the clean up not only that i would see a tv commercial with bush sr and clinton on how we need to save wild life to donate our hard working dollars we need to feed our children to just save birds when the oil companies need to pay it in FULL PRICE for there actions.
@tubeinaredcircle The GOP cares about the middle class and poor Americans as much as they do the oil covered birds and fish. we are all expendable to them as long as the money is flowing into their pockets. this is corporate greed and its best friend the Republicon showing you there true colors!! what a bunch of greedy no good bastards. The faster we get rid of these dirty Republicans the faster America would be a better place!
Republicans want deregulation? They want the gov. to stay out of their business? Fine, but that doesn't mean private business practices deserve a get out of jail free card.
@rebbecca10491 Hey, moron. There are already regulations and laws in place for these kind of accidents and BP has been following them. If you are so upset, be upset with the Obama administration for issuing the BP permit and NOT doing their job enforcing regulations or inspections. Why hasn't Obama ordered the military to stop it? Why hasn't anybody talked about stopping it? They just want to contain it. You naive liberals just don't get it. They don't care about any of us, it's all BS!
@tiitytat LOL -- this post shows just how little you have been paying attention -- BP HASN'T been following regulations and laws EVEN in the "clean-up" phase.
@tiitytat Doubt it! Give me links to the facts then I'll believe you! After 8 years with that moron oil loving Bush in office I highly doubt that BP wasn't able to find some loopholes. In the end all the conservatives asking for less taxes will have to pay more as long as they can blame anyone but themselves and their precious oil companies. I think I'll take my alternative energy resources over all this bull shit, thank you. I
Yeah, such a "tragedy" that BP might be held minimally accountable for one of the biggest environmental disasters ever. I wonder how much campaign support this dickhead gets from oil companies. Fucking slimeball.
@at4550 Hey dumbshit, Obama just got $20 billion in campaign support. BP is already spending $100 billion on this, you think anybody will ever see that $20 billion? Some people will, Obama's buddies and his terrorists family.
Don't liberals understand that BP is already spending $100 billion for cleanup and claims? Oh, AP (owned by Al Gore) didn't report that? hmmmm, wonder why? This extra chump change of $20 billion just assures this cleanup will never happen because now your messiahs federal government is in charge. They will steal all of the money before America has a president again.
No matter what you think, even though the Obama administration has claimed full responsibility from day one (they are responsible and I'm shocked BP didn't tell him to shove it up his ass, as they should've) Now, it is out of the hands of BP and in complete control of the Obama administration. This will be yet again another epic failure and those funds will go to his lobbyist, banking buddies, Chicago thugs, special interest groups and the senators. Worst thing that could've happened did.
You know what's funny? If BP had complied with regulations they wouldn't be seeing their stocks tumble into the abyss. Apparently Republicans want people in Louisiana and/or Obama to clean up after BP's mess. They want all the benefits of a corporate economy with none of the accountability
@MrTouchShriek Hmmm, that's funny, if the Obama administration had done their job this would've been stopped a long time ago. As a matter of fact, if the Obama administration had not given BP the deepwater permit in the first place, this wouldn't of happened. Oh, don't forget Salazar and Obama claiming full responsibility from day one. This was all set up for political gain to create jobs. Damn, liberals are so fucking stupid and naive.
Republicans just flat suck.

If Obama didn't do anything, idiots like you would have been criticizing him for that instead. So shut the hole on your face.

WE knew they were there, WE knew the risks, the people that live near the ocean or run fisheries knew there were 100's of oil platforms in the gulf. So WE'RE ALL jointly responsible. If the Gulf is so precious and important, then why act like we don't know companies are performing dangerous acts in the water?

Barton is correct, even if unpopular. What Obama did was wrong, the same way it is wrong to lynch someone without a trial. The law and the constitution should mean something, and if they are deficient they should be changed. Resorting to thuggery and bullying should be reserved for dictators and has no place in the US. Obama is a master at destroying corporations and prosperity... at rallying people and organizing communities to tear down companies and make life worse for everyone involved.
siclos 1 year ago
@siclos Barton is dead wrong, BP's own partner has said they were wrong.
dsjj251 1 year ago
@dsjj251 Did I say BP was right? No. Even those ultimately found guilty have a right to a trial and other legal processes.
If BP voluntarily waived their rights in order to expedite relief reaching the gulf, we should thank BP and apologize as Barton says.
If BP was illegally coerced into this, Obama should be impeached.
There is very little middle ground here.
Hayward is also just one person. He can't simultaneously monitor 1,000s of operations anymore than Obama knows every soldier's name.
siclos 1 year ago
@siclos what you dont get is that Anadarko BP's own partners have said they were wrong(and it is a far smaller company than BP and could dissolve because of this), you have sworn testimonies from the workers on the Oil rig who said they cut corners.

Barton isnt right, 20 Billion will not pay for this, so how is it even a shackdown. And why would we apologize to Barton ?
dsjj251 1 year ago

CrowdPleeza 1 year ago
@CrowdPleeza As far as I can tell Barton's only reinforcing the truth. Minority leader Boehner was for American taxpayers helping to pay for BP's Gulf disaster before he was against it, and Dick Armey believes the Americans who've been put out of business by it should spend the next couple of decades suing BP. The desire to protect big business at the expense of Americans is rife on the right, and anyone who's been paying attention for the last few decades knows it.

Supporters of the moratorim will say, YAY in the face of big oil at first, and then, oops we need money, when they realize that big oil was a major source of incm
kingx989 1 year ago
@kingx989 "OIL COMPANIES ARE NOT EVIL" What does that have to do with anything? The moratorium is temporary -- those jobs will come back. The jobs taken out by BP's negligence will NEVER be coming back. What happened to the ecosystem would be the equivalent in the world of big oil of blowing up hundreds and hundreds of wells simultaneously. I can't say I'm surprised to see another right-winger defending negligent behavior, however -- it's second nature to you.
MrTouchShriek 1 year ago
@kingx989 oil companys also pay almost trillion dollars in taxes
tomanyasses 1 year ago
@tomanyasses Really? How do you know? Exxon for instance refuses to release their tax figures. And all the big oil companies, like major US corporations in general, offshore their profits so they pay as little as possible to Uncle Sam. They also claim foreign tax credits which means THE IRS SENDS THEM REFUNDS.
OTOH, Exxon spent $24.5 MILLION on lobbying last year. The other oil companies won't have squandered either, which no doubt helps to explain Barton's vile suck-up to BP.

@kingx989 There is no point in lifting the moratorium until the cause of the spill is determined, and the 30-yr old technology for handling spills is updated. Even BP's CEO agreed with that.

@tiitytat Did I say anything about Obama you fucking retard? Get your head out of your ass.

MrTouchShriek 1 year ago 3
@MrTouchShriek Hmmm, that's funny, if the Obama administration had done their job this would've been stopped a long time ago. As a matter of fact, if the Obama administration had not given BP the deepwater permit in the first place, this wouldn't of happened. Oh, don't forget Salazar and Obama claiming full responsibility from day one. This was all set up for political gain to create jobs. Damn, liberals are so fucking stupid and naive.

@tiitytat So much anger...and so much stupidity ;)
People like you beat the "government regulation is bad" drum throughout the past 20+ years, making things like this possible.
You may be "armed and ready," but not with intelligence, apparently.

When will poor Tony Hayward get his life back? He'll only be able to afford 1 new private jet this year -- poor soul. :(
