This is just ridiculous. TFTO features a full band together with overdubs and Chris attempts to distill all this into a single guitar part ... and succeeds brilliantly. I just recently stumbled across your videos, and I have to say that while your talent is a niche that probably won't result in rock star status, I'm sure I'm not the only old guitar player wannabe who really really really wishes he could do what you can do.

Unfortunately, I was lazy and not particularly talented, plus I didn't want to learn "Mary had a little lamb" first, I wanted to learn what you played in this video. I learned to hack my way through a few parts to some of these songs, and soon realized it would take more dedication, and/or natural ability than I had, to be able to do it. I got discouraged and quit.

I'll soon be 50 years old, and this is still the music that I feel in my bones. Steve Howe is the reason I tried to learn to play guitar when I was in my teens. In particular the Fragile, Close To The Edge and Tales From Topographic Oceans albums. He will always be my favorite guitarist.

Great video, these excerpts are lengthier than those appeared in the 'Not Necessarily Acoustic' album, if I remember correctly. I don't know if it's Howe or you did your own adaptation but that 'Ancient' part from 7:01 to 7:25 is really brilliant. Splendid tour de force, Chris!

Thanks, hyperboreal. Yes, the medley is based on the excerpts from 'Not Necessarily Acoustic' with a few additions thrown in just for fun. The part of Ancient you refer to was taken from an old CD Rom Steve Howe put out years ago, but I beleive he plays basically the same thing on the studio recording with other instruments overtop of that.

Steve Howe did a solo acoustic tour a while back you may remember. On the cd I have of that tour he doesn't play as well as you do here. No youtube hyperbole, that.

My only complaint is you left out my favorite part!! :D ("Young Christians see it...from the beginning.....").
