  • i love the pretenders that has to be my favorite song

  • That is the original half life, lol. Sounds like the part with the rocket engine. Anyways, the design if the motor looks very similar to the old GE design, perhaps the companies may have worked together?

  • @morpheusduvall lol yeah its a Black Mesa - Source trailer playing in the background :D

I would say AEI bought the design off GE since it looks just like them!

  • That sounds like the original half-life in the background.

  • try and ohm the windings see what reading you get

  • I like the look of it. Really old style. Apart from the bearings it must be a real silent one. 4 pole?

  • it is very silent!, the vid dosn't do it justice.

not sure how many poles, but being 1425 RPM it must be 4 pole.

  • 9.2A is quite a bit for a 3-phase 1/2hp motor.

  • it is a lot!, but the size of the output shaft is much bigger than a modern 1/2Hp too. not sure how much torque its designed for but i imagine a lot!

  • Nice! I like the looks of that one!

  • As usual.... some cool background music.

  • Rock and metal are always a part of the scrap man lifestyle :D

  • @Aussie50 I love the music in your ingersoll rand compressor video with the 1 HP century video

  • cool. the bearings sound stuffed. you should do a amp draw test.

  • yeah, I don't have a decent amp meter

    but the bearings are fucked.

  • is that loud noise on startup coming from the motor?

  • lol nah, that was my friend throwing lumps of copper into a bin.

the motor is nice and smooth apart from the bearings
