  • The word 'viking' itself refers to explorers of/by rivers, then extended to mean naval warfarers - and today it's even used to encompass all scandinavians at that time. They travelled deep into Russia and down to Bagdad by these ways as raiders, traders and explorers -- all counted under the same word 'viking'; So it really didn't matter if you killed or traded with someone, went by a horseback, by a river or by sea - just by travelling you were a viking.

  • OMG this is fuel for hundreds of ragefests. It is simple. A Viking uses a Longship to get from where he is at, to where he wants to raid. When he steps off his ship, he is still a Viking. True, there can't be Vikings without longships. But that doesn't matter. I'm not gonna start the Chicken and the Egg debate. This bullshit Viking debate is bad enough. Viking is not a nationality, tho Vikings did and do only come from certain places. Viking is a profession/way of life. Location is irrelevant.

  • I am descended from Vikings and they are still vikings. Vikings are from Scandanavia. Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. They wore certain armor and worshiped Norse Gods, like Thor and Wodyn or Odin.

  • vikings on land are considered norse warriors...

"viking" actually was dead since it didnt apply anymore...

The word Viking actually describes a dude on a conquest with a boat... Think of it as a verb. Like dude im going viking!

No boat = no viking = Just a scandinavian who is on land...

You should have licked the wire wimp!

  • oh my god i love you.

  • "What's a pirate minus the ship? Just a creative homeless guy." I changed my stand on this important subject because Bo Burnham has opened my eyes.

  • im tellin ya.

  • ^^ funny but. well. ofc a viking is still a viking if u take him of his boat. :) "if you take a cat and put him on a boat would he ceases to be a cat then? nah, he would be a cat on a boat." or.. well o.O

  • Once a viking, always a viking, in a boat or on land.

  • I totally agree.

  • yeah otherwise how would they have sacked England, instead of the Historians sayin that the Vikings sacked northern Europe they would have said some Northern Warriors sacked Europe

  • I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO

    looking for friends n1

  • (i am the friend that is on the other side of this arguement) ok so...vikings..no matter if there on land or on the sea...ARE STILL CONSIDERED VIKINGS!!! there just not out on the sea....its like if you have a fish in water....its a fish...but if you take a fish out of water...ITS STILL A FISH!!!!!! and if you have a pig with lipstick on it ITS STILL A PIG!!!!
